I have just found out this week that, the car I got on lease hire, despite being below the £40K luxury tax when I made my deposit, is now subject to said tax since it was registered after VW increased its price to over £40K. I now have to pay and extra £400 / year on top of road tax, which has also gone up. All thanks to a war elsewhere and an illness that was not as bad as made out.
@@paul756uk2 That's an easy way to lose your car bud. I get pissed about the price (take it from a guy who's 4 vehicles cost over £130 a month total to tax) but it's cheaper than having any one of them clamped by a mile.
The goal is no privately owned vehicles on the road. They are pricing everyone off the road.

@@pachy444 We looked at and test drove electric cars, none of them drive like cars and sounded like metal brake pads rubbing together. Plus it was the design that sold it to her, she liked the shape and that you can get 2 6ft+ people in the back and considering it’s a tiny car that’s an incredible piece of design. It was also fully loaded and the road tax is nothing and the fuel economy is astounding.

They will Bcos they know how many miles they have done, it's digital mileage, GPS and geo fencing, every time they ring the call centre and they can see the mileage from there end

Of those EV’s are just over a million
So the treasury officials can’t count and are lying about their own figures because even with EVs there are more cars raising more taxes.
However, they having less income as no money from the EU is coming in. Less high earners in the UK, and lower earners means less taxable income ergo less money for the treasury.
But, considering that oil companies made billions in profit, the tax should not be low on that, and a quick search told me that 2023/24 the UK made £24 billion in fuel duty.
Pay-Per-Mile will be introduced for EVs first and after a year or two, and after a lot of positive articles, they will just introduce and force it onto everyone.
In my view, this country isn't democratic, actually no country is anymore - this are the changes the people should vote for.
Nowhere did it say, the government (labour) will introduce pay-per-mile and other shenigans.

High earners (£300k +/annum) in the UK are growing little by little. Unfortunately they make up only around 2-5% of the earning population, dependant on what source you read. And most of them have excellent accountants who know how to legally avoid most of the tax traps so pay less tax as a percentage of their income than you and me.

My wife has to travel 25 miles to work and 25 back again. There are no buses or trains to where she works without taking 4hrs to get there and at least another 4hrs back as she sonetimes finishes work at midnight, so she NEEDS to travel in a car to WORK and back safely. If there are plans afoot to charge a silly amount for hard-working people to earn a living, then what's the point? She'll be earning a lot less and would likely "get sacked" and go on the dole and not bother, like a lot of others out there that seem to do well doing sod-all in life. If they want to get cars off the road, target those with no tax, no insurance, no driving licence and no MOT. That'd likely get 5% of cars off the road overnight!!!

So true and they continue the vendetta against diesel despite the Euro6 versions actually being capable of reducing NOx in the air whilst generating far less CO2 than the petrol equivalent. Less revenue, of course, and why Blair jacked diesel prices up with some nonsense about particulates having coaxed millions to diesel to “combat climate change”. Well, you have to balance the books somehow!
Dwindling fuel reciepts . . . while stopping drilling in the North sea. Hmmmm . . . a connection perhaps?
Let’s not forget that the PPM system is like to include the geofencing and timefencing technology sneakily included on modern cars.. not just EV’s.

When you have an MOT done your mileage is recorded (they could force and MOT from new) so all those cameras are not needed. They can simply charge you based on MOT miles and save millions on the tech and cameras.

Ordinance Survey are currently geo mapping the location of every of single lampost in the uk. Three weeks ago I was working by some newly built houses and a guy in a high vis with a gps antenna was mapping the boundaries of the various properties for OS . We got chatting firstly about EVs as he was driving one, then about ULEZ I had to drop in that it will be a pay per mile system that will be rolled out nationwide, he then said to me that Ordinance Survey has been contracted to map all lampost positions across the UK but he had not been sure for what purpose... I think he knows now.

People think twice for a day out as fuel to get there ,food and drink to eat , admission fees and her presto £200+ quid gone, then because you don't go no fuel duty so garage loses sales so does tax man and food outlets car park charges etc they lay off staff as they are quiet so no tax or NI and the list goes on .... Also when these same Companys that support this shit, they suddenly cant find a engineer or something, because he cant drive to the company and then everything dies as people cant travel for work

This is all about control....... they could just put the tax on the fuel at the pump !
Instead they are going to have to put in all the computer technology to monitor our road usage..who are they kidding ?
