i've been searching for a long time and have never been able to find it. i think you can buy it on dvd from places but it's only a korean copy with no subs :(

노래는 넘 좋은데 한국 라이센스는 역시 무대 구성이 아쉽네 동선도 넘 여기저기고 토트 새 하인들이랑 단체 떼거지로 나오니 시선이 오히려 분산되는 느낌... 비엔나 프로덕션처럼 토트 루돌프 둘만 나와도 충분히 무대 꽉 채울수 있는 노래 연기 실력 갖춘 배우들인데.... 마지막 춤 넘버도 그렇고 참.... 무대 연출로 깎아먹는 느낌 물론 개인적인 생각이지만...

So I just spent too much time googling the storyline, but it seems like Todd/Death is friends with the character in this scene. Who is the other person, and what plot point am I missing? (is there any hints of romantic love?)
In this scene Rudolf (of Habsburg) is devastated and hopeless, Death comes to him as a friend and persuades him to end his life. The real Crownprince Rudolf took his life in 1889. In this musical (Elisabeth) Death and the Empress Elisabeh have a romantic relationship, but death always takes people with a kiss in this musical. The musical is from Austria (therefore in German) but was translated in many languages. ( searchwords: Empress Elisabeth of Austria/Rudolf of Habsburg/Musical Elisabeth)

That'd be closer to history, but instead of persuading him to take his life, in the musical's version of the story Death incites him to rebellion against his father. Rudolf (true to history) is a liberal with ideas of reform which he believes could stave off the nationalist disintegration of the Empire, but Death (plotting either to ruin Rudolf and thus drive Elisabeth into depression and therefore into his arms, or, in my preferred interpretation, exemplifying a sort of Hegelian world spirit inexorably driving the world into the Great War) persuades him not to wait his turn but instead attempt a coup d'etat (not true to history), only after the failure of which then Rudolf takes his life because his mother won't intercede on his behalf ("Wenn ich Dein Spiegel waer").
@@Isewein that's incredible. I want to pick this apart and explore the added depth you just shared through this insight and analysis. I really like the idea that he's driving the world towards the great war. That would, at a very minimal, base interpretation, drive many people into his arms, but that's still not deep enough for the Death in this. I want to learn even more, both about the history this is based on and the thought and meaning behind the story and character creation.
A sad example of homosexuality getting censored in a musical. This really destroys the scene for me despite the singers doing such an amazing job. In the original version Franz pulls away from the death several times, trying to avoid the kiss of death. This scene doesn't seem like the death wants to seduce him to die.
Edit: Not censoring because the director mad the (bad) the decision to cut out the seducing in this scene and added it in another scene. For more information look at first reply :) Sorry, for my misinterpretation. Unfortunetely gay love stories get a censored a lot in many Asian countrie including South Korea.
In that scene in Korea product, death persuades Rudolf to opposed his father. Not seduce him to die. After that, when Elisabeth shuns Rudolf, death draws him to die and kiss him.
You can not say homosexuality is censored, because this video is not a complete performance.

@@kaileykiw Glad it's not censoring but only an artstic decision of the director but the seduction is still missing in this version. Watch the original, for example at 2:27 th-cam.com/video/i9hFnlJIMNY/w-d-xo.html Seduction is definetely used here as a metaphor. It is definetely not used in this Korean version for this song.
