Senior Div of Kid, just picked up mutes (the second batch of mutes from thonk - I missed the first batch) and soldered it up this evening. Just had very quick play with it... Totally changed my modular mixing. Will do some nifty CV stuff with this tomorrow.... fab! Many thanks for coming up with this.
Mutes have been a great addition to my system! Although they don't carry pitch information accurately, these are the best mutes I have seen. I have used a couple of other mute modules, and none come close to the build quality of Mutes. Add the momentary and latching switch and vacrtrol response, and you have a winner. If I could ask for more, I would be stoked if it mixed down multiple inputs to a single output and carried pitch info, but I supposed we traded the latter for vactrol response. Not a bad trade; I'm just glad this is now stated in the manual (as it wasn't when I purchased the module). If you are on the fence about Mutes, I'd recommend trying it out; it's worth the price.
thanks for the kind words. Yeah Vactrols and pitch - no go unfortunately. Though if you run it into a quantiser afterwards you can get some interesting results (like with most things). We went with the input splitting to allow for patching one sound out to multiple places that can be performed in terms of routing with the mutes. That's been really performative and important for me but as you say doesn't then allow for the mixing.
My system is complete. Then I watch this video. I have four voices and I love how flexible this module is for bringing them in and out in various ways. There are times when I just want to solo the kick and punch things in and out. This module looks perfectly planned and executed for flexible performance solutions built around a super playable interface. Nice work DK!
Congratulations on the first module Ben! I have several times thought of building exactly THAT myself, because it will be perfect for live jams! :-O Thanks for great content!
Just ordered! I need the functionality AND I wanted to support all the great help you provide in the demos. The vids have helped me learn so much and depleted my bank account... long live Eurocrack!
I like. Much. Thanks for doing it and for sharing the realization of your idea. Not everyone gets to do such things, so it is natural you would want to share your excitement about this project. With all the educational stuff you do, it would seem to me ungenerous to complain about such a thing. Gratitude would seem to demand, minimally, a bit more understanding. Great work - and cheers to Befaco and the worm guy.
Yeah they're stock is in transit and Cindy was great to talk to. I tried to get stock into stores that I had some connection with (through friends or directly).

It must be exciting to be using a finished version of a module you designed.
Coming from a background of singing and guitar ie traditional performance, I'm just getting into the into the idea of modular, scheming how I would utilize a small system in my workflow. Great, simple but intuitive design! Definitely picking one of these up, will make a great sub-mix to send out to a desktop mixer 😁
it doesn't mix anything. The inputs are normalised not the outputs so you'll need a mixer if you want to get 4 channels onto one channel.
