Been awful for solar, today for instance only generated 200W, we are finally getting our batteries installed in 2 days so looking forward to that and have bought a 1500w kettle to help the inverter. Also had a mixergy water tank installed 3 days ago so that’s already reducing our gas bill. Inverters are sure the bottleneck now, or maybe it’s just re learning how to be more efficient where possible.
The batteries on the right tariff help bring the bills down for sure. I think it’s now 12.5p per night. That’s with octopus 🐙. It locks in in for 12months which is good. The kettle is a good call. 100% the brick wall is the inverter.
I’m surprised there hasn’t really been much innovation in the solar panel industry, on the panels themselves. Like built in heaters to melt the snow allowing the panels to get whatever sunlight they can even in bad weather. Maybe there are panels out there with a heating feature.
Very helpful! I'm in the Ottawa, Canada area at latitude 45 degrees N so your values are probably a worst-case scenario for me given that you're further north. BTW we just had two days of snow with about 25 cm falling. Lots of fun! Also is a hob in the UK what we call a stove?
I did the lower ones the following day. I wanted to see if there was any thaw without interfering. I am going to get some sort of extended brush. Feel like it might be a waste of money though as the last snow we had prior to this was 2018/2010
Hi Garett, I’d like to hear what you think of Starlink these days, as it’s getting more established around the UK and the world as well.
Hey John! 100% will be doing a Starlink update. Its in my dairy!

Priced panels and battery's in September. 9k without battery and 14k with. Its a huge jump in cost
The cost is insane. Demand is very high. Suppliers are struggling to get the parts to build the systems

100% agree. Now everyone is demanding it, I am sure it’s being looked at

That’s a lot of snow! A hob is a cooker a stove is Aimee thing in a living room or log burner
Why would you not just clear off the panels with a brush on a long pole? My father does that with his.
