Hello friend, I have fitted the system with on GEM120 meter. Do you have one or two of this GEM120 Meter? .
Hey! I have 2. One for each inverter. Hope this helps your set up!
Thank you so much
Hello, would you buy a new DPA2017 for 930$ or a new mkh416 for 790$? I know is older but is also discounted. Thanks.
I prefer the 2017. THe 416 created much more interference in my set up. In particular smaller rooms. The 2017 sounds really strong
I’m going to replicate your system with 3x 9.5kw batteries
🔥
Which one is better?
Który jest lepszy Twoim zdaniem?
Hello friend, how is the system functioning now.
It been incredible. 18months and still have not paid an electric bill. Also have a significant amount of credit from export. I think I'll do an update video as its been so impressive.
Just signed up to them to start in Sept. I’ve been told by them there won’t be doing IPv6 which is a shame so looks like I’ll be spending the £2 per month extra for the static IP address fingers crossed this works……
@gigaclear can you confirm this please?
Thank you for all your videos. Proved very helpful to us when looking into Starlink. We have had Starlink for 3 weeks now. Before, we were on an old adsl connection, with 7d / 0.8up, with an average ping when gaming of 40ms. This gave a better gaming experience than Starlink can manage. It gets close but the ping does swing between 20-60ms during a game and you do feel it in fps games like cod. The thing is, whilst the old adsl gave a better gaming experience this was only if you had the connection all to yourself when gaming. If others in the house opened a browser or started a video stream, your gaming session would be terrible, with 1000+ms spikes in ping. Starlink however takes all this in it's stride. So a small dip in outright gaming performance, still very usable, is a price we are prepared to pay for the overall benefit Starlink offers, like a 20gb game update downloaded in under 20 mins instead of 6 hours! or a 4k movie streaming without a hitch. If you live outside the reach of fibre, have a clear view of the sky and can stomach the monthly cost, I recommend it. Regarding the phone app that you can use to check for obstructions prior to purchase. This had us checking the sky in a vertical to north easterly direction. Upon installing the hardware and aliening the dish, it wanted us to orientate it in a south westerly direction. worth keeping in mind when considering dish placement.
Excellent comparison! Imho the mhk50 constantly puts out a slight heavier bump in your voice, low to low mids, that makes the DPA much fresher to listen to. And I'm listening through Sennheiser HD 650, which are not particularly known for heavy bass, quite the contrary. But then that's just an opinion and anybody could have a different preference. But thanks for the video!
Thanks for the feedback! I am very torn still! I was surprised how good the 50 is outside, I did that in a different video.
wow i have been here since the start im getting fibre in the next year hopefully!
there are posters going up outside my house saying full fibre internet coming to your street! it promises speeds of 1000mbps im so excited for it!!
My understanding is that if you have an inverter connected to the grid and the grid goes down the inverter shall automatically stop. The reason being, else the inverter would be trying to power the local grid circuit. This would be a hazard to any grid engineers trying the repair the fault. Also the inverter has not got the capability to power your street. Instead the GivEnergy Gateway AIO solution detects the grid fault and disconnects the grid so the house is isolated from the grid.
I think the same applies to the hybrid inverters particularly the newer. @PaulLandregan will 100% know
Heard nothing but bad things about set up and customer service RE: gigaclear. Any thoughts on that? Thank you
Also for anyone else, I had issues connecting with Vodafone which I think has the same issue as Gigaclear does to an xbox. I used a network switch to fix this issue.
I find the MKH-50 to be brilliant outside, hence why I’ve never invested in a true shotgun mic. I’m curious as to your issues with it in this scenario which you never made explicit.
I don’t have any issues with the product (the 50) at all. In fact, I haven’t had anything substantial to compare it to. It sounds wonderful and I love it, but I haven’t had the opportunity to try it extensively. Public perception tends to be quite negative, with many thinking it’s terrible outside. However, I tested it myself, and while it may not be as bad as people say, it is still quite significant and different outside.
Wow. Amazing you got super fast fibre now. . Our gen 2 does what we need in the Philippines.. so good for us , as there’s nothing else.. take care and enjoy 😊
Starlink is amazing! It 100% bridges the fttp gap
the mk works surprisingly well outdoors. Well, a good mic is a good mic, right?
Yeah. I was surprised tbh. You are right. A good mic is a good mic and the mkh50 is certainly that!
You’re handsome 😉
👀
@@Irishpixel 👀👀👀
I had Starlink when living in the middle of the forest in Oregon. Since moving to Indiana I’ve had gigabit fiber and love it. I’ve been trying to figure out if upgrading to 2 gigabit would actually be worth it. I’d need to buy a 2 or 10 gigabit switch.
10 would be insane! The issue I’m facing is pushing it via wireless. I can’t complain about 7-800 wirelessly though! I think it’s going to need WiFi 7. Just costed up some Asia gear and it’s V expensive!
Dang man its been a minute snice i seen a video from you . Miss your Starlink content but i just watched your video where you got fiber. If it ever becomes a option for me i would probably drop starlink, but as of now its a god send. Thanks for all you info .... And by the way you remind me of the actor Michael Fassbender.
Ill take that as a compliment! Thanks Clif. 100% starlink is incredible if you have not got anything else. I see they released the mini. Tempted to see how that goes!
When you had FTTC, how far was the cabinet from your premise DMARC/NID? What did the provider use as the last mile? Twisted single pair, Long range Ethernet, coax, etc? What was the physical handoff to you? We don't see that tech used across the pond.
Hey Mathew! Thank you so much for watching and you comment. Your support over the years has been appreciated. Our house is about 3/4 mile from the cabinet. Fibre runs to the cabinet and the rest is supplied by copper. The original speeds were 25/4 with a ping of around 15 if I remember right. How is everything over your side?
@@Irishpixel , things are going reasonably well. The local power company which is a cooperative, created a broadband division. All homes in our county and surrounding counties are getting fiber to the home! Our farm has it on the street before our 1/2 mile private driveway. The cost is $40.00 a month for 100MB or $80.00 a month for 1GB. Speeds are great. All synchronous. Ping times are around 6ms. We're slated to get it later this summer. Fingers still crossed!
@@mdbreweroh wow!! That’s excellent value to! Fttp is crazy. Still running speed tests every ten minutes
Hey Gareth! How are you? 😀
Good thank you! Hbu?
@@Irishpixel I am fine. Thanks! 😀 I see that her channel has grown. Great! I'm happy for you.😉🌷
Always happy to help, we're loving the videos! 🙌🏼
What did you think considering our conversation yesterday? I was a little surprised at the result
@@Irishpixel Yeh honestly, I can't really make my mind up as to which I prefer. Initially I liked the DPA 2017, but then there is a prolonged section with the MKH50 and I started to trick myself into thinking we had swapped back to the 2017 haha. Either way both sound excellent. ~ Alex
I have enjoyed your Starlink videos. Thank you for the reviews over the years. Glad you got fiber. It was like Christmas morning when I finally got fiber.
we got fiber To the Home in December and i gave up on getting starlink. living in rural indiana it was nice to be able to get fiber
At Minut 2;30 waterer you say in July 2024 going to get. my Starlin k so help me God. if you going to say negative stuff I am not going to change. anything over 60 MGBS air 40 Euros Months Plus 349 euros what can go wrong? Going heads DOWN.
Congrats on the upgrade and it was fun to see that enthusiasm again that we had at the beginning of your Starlink journey. Starlink did its job for its time and will continue to do so for others. It didn't move as fast or as far as was hoped. A lot of that had to do with other things interfering, But for the niches it is valuable for it will continue to be valuable for and that is a much bigger market than is understood. It just isn't the entire market.
I cannot believe how excited I am over this. It really changes my work flow. This TH-cam video took just over a minute to upload…. Starlink did a fantastic job and for sure will continue to do so across the world.
You are lucky! I don't think my remote location in PEI, Canada will ever have a fibre connection. I will stick with Starlink until that day comes.
That is far from a bad choice!
Congrats on getting fibre. Here in rural Ottawa, Canada it's still not available and there's no way the telcom giants will price 900 Mbps service for only $51 CAD (£ 29). It will probably be twice that, at least. Really. In the US (not sure about Canada), the price of Starlink hardware was halved, but you no longer get their router. Monthly fees are unchanged here at $158 CAD. I look forward to future videos, hopefully including peeks at the lambs.
If you think about what Starlink is, it’s totally worth it. Every time I speed test Gigaclear I smile 😂. Such a sad git!! I guess government grants etc help. We have a drive in the uk to get everyone with the ability to have access to 1Gbps by 2025. We don’t talk about the lambs anymore 😂😂. I miss those days!
Fabulous video, thanks for the information, i would love it in my village sadly not at the moment.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
2017 sounds way better. 50 is boring and plain.
I hear you. Tempted to sell the mkh50 as the dpa is getting picked first.
Ah, how dare you!
@@Irishpixelso you usually prefer using the dpa over the 50? Any experience with the mkh416?
Even with TH-cam's compression, the DPA 2017 really shines through. The 50, 60 and 70 MKH's sound way too boring for me. DPA has a nice balance between sharpness, clarity and vocal depth. Nice video.
This is very encouraging. I agree with you on the quality. I’ll have to do a few more. Have some lavs I can compare and transmitters
You lost me when you had a force charge not discharge set up during the saving session.
I have a similar set-up to you, but the gateway cannot handle more than one Inverter. I have two SolarEdge inverters, a 6000 and a 10000. The gateway was only allowed to take the 6000 and the 1000 is plugged into my switch board, this means that the GivEnergy App and Portal information is always wrong, my solar generation is always double whatever they say.
thanks for making this. helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
All very theoretical if it doesn't stop the rain ! Jeez whens it going to stop? Very happy with my new setup 9kW PV 5K inverter 9.5 battery, not used any grid electric since it went it in late Feb despite rain. I do have one q. I have two strings on the inverter cunningly called string 1 and string 2. Can these names be changed?
Good video but please stop confusing energy and power. Your solar panels are producing kW of power not kWh
I appreciate that. I am not an expert. Just a regular guy trying to figure stuff out.
@@Irishpixel The pedants are out.
I would like an AIO and the standby facility, however Octopus energy who are quoting to fit my system will not allow any EPS nor will they fit an AIO and gateway, they will however fit a a much earlier date than the independent fitter who are swamped with work. I can fit my own auto change EPS and connect to the system but should need to with the NEW system being fitted with Generation three invertor and 9kwh battery. They are VERY inflexible with their offering and the salespeople do door seem to understand what I am talking about. I would fit the whole thing myself but lose the VAT and save the labour but it is not what I wish to have or do , The ANO would not allow joining to the grid without the 99 approval which I cannot do as I am not approved by them as a contractor would be.
I am waiting for my system by octopus but they refuse to allow an EPS on the system as it is not in their repertoire . Also they have a very restricted view on what they will fit. No all I one with gateway just the basic inverter and battery. I am still considering cancelling and getting an approved Givenergy contractor to fit what I wish to have.
That sounds like a lot of red tape! I had four sockets added to mine as it was the cheapest. On the give inverters it’s always live. I’m not sure how or why they would restrict it?
Yes i asked Octopus to install an AIO but they said thats not in their portfolio at present. I went with someone else but in the end didn't go for the AIO.

Another great video. Great presentation, congratulations.
Thank you very much!
How much for a lock of your hair 👀 the camera made it look irresistible 👀👀👀👀
Do you have an Instagram account?
Hey. Yes. It’s @irishpixel
I am advised , no idea if correct though , that the all in one system is to introduce the ability to add on more modular battery units.
That's right. There are options currently in testing. One of the tests is dual AIO
Would you say the dpa 2017 would make a better on camera mic than a mk50 which is not mean for on camera it’s meant to be placed closer to subject
Interesting you should ask. I tried this at an event recently and it was good. You got to be relatively close but it’s good. I have a little Sony one I use as default but swapped it out. Really loved the sound. What I’ll do is run a test vs the mkh50 and the Sony when I try them outside as per another viewers request.
@@Irishpixel like how close ? Does dpa 2017 eliminate outside noise ?
@@creativegreatsvisuals within 2 meters. I’ll do a couple of different distances.
th-cam.com/video/3r29Txa70IA/w-d-xo.html
you should have also tested them outdoors or set up some noise in your space so as to show their off axis rejection and which mic has a tighter pick up
You are right. I’ll do this during the week on the farm here and let you see. I’ll try near a road so we can see how it handles.

By dropped the AIO , do you mean they’ve introduced the AIO as it is the system that seems to be the one everyone is going for atm rather than the hybrid setup that you have.
Yeah, sorry, introduced the AIO. I prefer the hybrid as I have better flexibility and bigger storage. Now sitting at just over 30kWh
