Actually these machines are made in the Netherlands 🇳🇱. The bucket is too wide for those pens I guess. And if you enter your barn backwards, Ur able to get to that other corner much better. These wheelloaders beat any skid steer in means of comfort, and visibility. Skid steers are quite rare here in nl. Almost every farm has a kind of this wheel loader though

the reach of the small one is the same as with a skid steer but it is way bigger, don't see how this would every be worth it. telescoping can be handy but the reach is still quite limited

@@rigdigwusit’s just like anything, you have to have a combination of equipment to do any job, both Skidsteers and these units have their sweet spot so to say in what they do well

I just bought a case 21f compact loader for my dairy a few months ago. It replaced 3 machines on the farm. Compact loaders are very versatile! 10 out of 10 would recommend.

I love these machines! Made and used almost everywhere in The Netherlands! I get what you said, I have been stuck to the wall myself couple of times, but when you get the hang of it, you’ll learn the machine better. Becareful with heavy loads, you could flip if you turn too fast

I can see how over time, you would become very efficient. But the ideal situation would be to have both the skid steer and the articulated machine. The problem you mentioned, getting pinned against a wall, put your bucket down , raise your front tires off the ground and articulate away from the wall.

Basically a skid loader is like a very big and agile man with a very big shovel. Wheel loaders have their place but they don’t suit every job. Ideally it would be nice to have both.

These machines are popular here in Scandinavia like Skid steer are at your place. But they just keep getting bigger and bigger and works well if you have all new buildings. We have machines from Avant and Multione that are around 1 meter wide and 2 meters long and lift atleast 800 Kg

If you ever get stuck against a wall you can set the bucket on the ground and push the front wheels off then shimmy it over it that makes sense. We have a 2 ton lift capacity terex which is a lot larger than the Giants but our feed passageways 10ft wide! So tight we needed a special order diet feeder wagon but thats the joys of Ireland 😅

been using skid steers for many years about our farm and it’s a machine u could never do without once u get one, but defo feel u need to have a bigger loader for feeder filling and some heavier jobs about the farm, having the two machines we find neither is over worked and have gotten many years from them both.i’d feel even the bigger of the two demos is still to small for your operation

Does the dealer offer the larger machine without the telescope. That usually extends the front of the machine around a foot. Also look at a high tip bucket that connects to the auxillary system. You lift the bucket straight up over where you dump and then activate the bucket and it tips over.

We have the older "top of the line" V761T (now called G5000) and I reallj like it. Use it for loading/unloading trucks "forklift duty" and utility work. Tried a new Kubota the same size but didn't like it as much. Strongest contender I've tried so far is a Kramer 8085 with four wheel (crab) steering...

I used to operate a slightly bigger kubota version of these. Your assessment of planning turns or getting trapped is spot on. Also didn’t like that the whole load could be thrown off if you turn too quickly or sharply. On the model I operated it was also possible to climb into a running machine and grab the steering wheel and subsequently slam your load into something. Skid loader is much better for your jobs.

Just started binge watching ur channel again today😉. If you get a loader in a tight spot, against a wall or something, put the bucket down till ur front tires r barely off the ground and slightly turn away from the tight area. Should give you enough room to get away from said wall or whatever. Just a little tip👌 Always great videos Eric!

Those both look like nice units and would probably be a welcome addition to any farm. Unfortunately though I don’t think anything else compares to the maneuverability of a skid steer. I guess that is why you see so many skid steer, pay loader combinations.

    @jdschini 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

You did a great job of putting both of the two new machines through their paces. And as you pointed out the larger unit with more reach has better visibility for loading the feed mixer. And with the totally enclosed cab, you would certainly be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter as the operator VS the skid steer. By keeping this unit out of the manure handling duties, it would reduce the risk of cross contamination to your feed storage areas. But after having said all of that positive. I do think you would dearly miss having your skid loader around to do all of the close work in your barns. I just do not think you can beat having a good little skid steer on a dairy farm for handling manure, and clean up in tight quarters. Not sure if some lower costs for wear and tear on your existing skid loader would be enough to offset the cost of the new Giant loader. But your point about the importance of safety for your family certainly has some added value that should be considered as well. This won’t be an easy decision for you and your family. But I also know that it comes down to the dollars. And they have to work out if it is going to be a good investment for your dairy farm.
Thanks for a great demonstration video!

  • @BauerHermann1811

I think you gave a good review on the wheel loaders, especially the bigger one. I could see our Farm run something like that if we had the money for it :-/
The main problem I see is that your farm is build around skid steers, so everything is quite tight. For example your calf barn and probably the slatted floor in the milk cow barn. Thats just build for skid steers and there wouldnt be a good way without compromises to be satisfied with just a Wheel Loader. But nontheless I can very well see you guys trade one skid steer in to buy a wheel loader with 80-100hp for Jobs that just require that bit more power and reach (if it fits the wallet of course XD)
Great video as always and keep up your excellent work
    greetings from germany!

I have run both, loader is better for feeding and mixing; while the skid steer is better for small pen cleaning. In an ideal world you would use both machines. As you point out there is less wear and tear with the loader and they are much faster compared to skid steer when handling feed.

Watching other channels loaders are often used in Europe, and never see skid steer units. Saw a unit where they had an agitator on a bucket for silage (or in the case of Europe grass). Cole the cornstar, they got a JCB skid loader and they liked it because you enter from the side. Their loader is track but I think it also has a wheeled version.

Nice video Eric lots of info on loader's you could be a great salesman but I think the skid steer is better on your farm. The good thing about the loaders is they don't chew up tires. But the cost to replace the tires on the new machines would be a lot more, they are so much larger than the skid steer. But they are very nice machines Iam sure after a few days you would have it working like the skid steer just that learning curve.

You guys need to try a JCB skid steer. It has the side door and it has the extend arm like the bigger track loader.

i think with more seat time and have the extendable option on the smaller unit you may be able to get it to work for you
