    I had a bent aluminum louvre from a gazebo roof. It was so strong, even me jumping on it (after I’d removed it from the roof 😄) didn’t straighten it. Your method got it straight-ish, good enough that the louvres now open and close well. Thanks!

    I have just used this method to straighten the inner pole on my Forespar whisker pole. I was quoted $645 + freight to buy a new inner tube or a cool $3240 for a complete replacement, so I've saved around $800. I made up a block with a set of 2.5 inch cut outs so that I wouldn't put any flats on the pole because a running gear has to slide inside of it. Thank you very much for making the video and posting it.

    Thanks for a simple and effective solution. I just used this method with old project wood laying around to straighten my stainless swim platform strut that was damaged in a storm.

    I bent my aluminum boat top and was able to straighten it out using this method. Just a tip: You may want to jack it slightly further than straight since it will pop back a little when you relieve the pressure.

    Thanks for a very ingenious video demonstration of how to straighten a pipe. I had some guides on an exercise weight machine that had gotten bent. Are used your technique, and they work amazingly well! I’m excited to get back to working out now! :-) All the best.

    Fantastic. No need for an expensive tool!! High wind collapsed my pop up shed and many roof connection pipes were bent. Can't wait to try the tip. --- Tried it but found that the bent pipe was not the original diameter/ flattened a bit at the bend and the pipe cracked.

      Thank you. Yes the metal has to be worked slowly. With a counter weight inside. Look up " straiten a trumpet".

    Hello, I did a similar idea, from your video and it worked. The jack lift bent the pipe where it was straightening it out because I couldn't get the piece of wood to hold when it was breaking so I just used the metal part of the jack to lift and it's straightened out with a little bit of a dent I don't care it's going to be in the ground anyway so it's for a fence post. thank you

    what kind of strap are you using that can take the pressure? trying to straighten a 2" fence post .. was thinking of getting a tube bender and using it in the opposite way by putting the bend in and butting pressure on it... is a 3ton jack strong enough?

    • @tipabr
      @tipabr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just used a 1 inch wide nylon strap that comes with a standard ratchet strap set up.
      I think a 3 ton jack would work fine, but you will know pretty quickly if it’s not enough.

    • @farjadzaghi8137
      @farjadzaghi8137 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tipabr thanks, used a 3 ton jack and could not handle the 2" metal post I think it is very thick wall. I guess have to use the 12 or 16 ton pipe bender from harbor freight

    • @jerrymccurry9372
      @jerrymccurry9372 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@farjadzaghi8137 Use longer boards and space the straps further apart to have more leverage and less stress on the jack and the post too.

    • @aurelienyonrac
      @aurelienyonrac ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jerrymccurry9372 agreed. But the bend on my pipe is close to an end.
      The end that has the concrete.
      So I could remove the concrete.
      Put a bar in the tube to extend it.
      And work it with a mace 🔨 and tension.
      2" pipes are no joke to straiten.

    Can I use this method to straighten a bent barbell bar?

    • @tipabr
      @tipabr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. Those bars are SOLID. I suppose if you had strong enough straps, boards and jack you probably could. Let me know how it goes.

    Has the mast been under load? I can only imagine that mast must now be significantly weaker having been bent once.

    Would heating it make it more playable or?

    • @tipabr
      @tipabr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, heating it likely would make it more pliable, but be mindful of what you use to hold the tube down. If the metal is too hot the nylon straps could melt.
