I restored my Chicago 1s but there's always dye bleeding on the shoe, how can I fix that?
From the sock liner? If so, try heat curing, wiping it down with a sponge, repeating until there's on more transfer. When you wipe it down, really press into the padding to absorb what's beneath it.

While you were cleaning them with the brush I noticed the soap and dirt splashing on the clear sneaker boxes and the airships😭 might be a good idea to find a new spot to clean
Oh believe me I am crazy about wiping stuff down post filming. That stuff sprays so far due to the rotary brush

Do your selves a big favour and don't follow this guys advice. All he does is put WAY to much detergent on the tongue of his shoe and then toss it in the washing machine. If you using a washing machine was an option for me I wouldn't need this video.

I got those a few months ago too, inspired by his last video before he left. I was waiting around for his restoration video before I did mine but I got impatient. I think he’s already restored his tho unfortunately. Maybe he had some footage tho
Ahh.. That footage might never see the light of day. I might be able to do a summary vid though because you're not the only person to ask. The thing with working on those is to be really careful with the toe box area as to not lose the color.

So when you go to rinse the tongue and sock liner how do you do it without soaking the inside of the shoe? I don’t wanna ruin the board last
Good question- a little water on the board won't hurt it but a good tip is to pack the toebox and base with towels when doing the tongue and hold the shoe upside down when rinsing the sock liner. The sock liner part is tricky tbh because you can only do so much but as I said, a little isn't going to hurt it.

Good info all around. I was too scared to wet clean the inside of my 85 pair so I just sprayed a lot of 10sec shoe disinfectant inside to hopefully kill any nasties. Decided to just use the shoes for display in the end.
Honestly, that's the move on a lot of the 85's because of the fragile collars.
I have a few pairs of 85s, some with soft collars and some with hard/crunchy collars. will getting the sock liner wet make the collar padding worse in either case?
Do you keep boxes to your shoes?
That's a sore subject atm but for the most part, yes. I have a couple blocks of time of collecting where the boxes were lost though unfortunately..
