BACKHAUS & BEETHOVEN'S 'MOONLIGHT' SONATA

Beethoven's 1st movement of this favourite sonata has Wilhelm Backhaus' moonlight goes from reflecting from the calm waters of the lake & after a brief middle section the illusion is destroyed by the now breeze ruffled surface.

月光はこの方の演奏が一番好きです。まるで月の明かりが零れ落ちてくるような演奏です。演奏のスピード・強弱・次の音へ移るまでの「溜め」とか他の方にない雰囲気を作り出しています。

There's nothing like a good recording of Backhaus eloquently playing Beethoven on that wonderful Bösendorfer piano. Superb.
