We Found Rare Gemstones At Ruby Bay | Elie | Ruby’s | Scotland

  • We had a great day out on the coast at ruby bay, searching for rare gemstones well known as Elie Ruby’s. These are infact pyrope Garnets that formed deep in the crust of the earths mantle later brought up by a volcanic vent on the coast near Shell Bay, Earlsferry, Fife.

      Thanks mate, it was a cracking day out. The kids don’t like panning anymore but managed to persuade them to go to ruby bay instead 🤣

      @@kev845 no you’re ok. These are gemstones and rare to find a stone of gem quality in Scotland. We were lucky this day to find a few of gem quality. Folks facet them and set them in jewellery since Victorian times. It’s more for education and a hobby rather than money.
