  • Thor's Hammer In Nordic Gold - Home Furnace - Petrobond Sand Cast - Melting Metal.
This week I will be making Thor's Hammer in Nordic Gold, I use a toy Thor's Hammer cut it in half using a Dremel and then cast it in Petrobond sand. It came out really well, I am really pleased with it.

Clearly another fan of Bigstackd :) You have some serious hardware--those lifting/pouring tongs were brilliant!

Not bad Joe! Too bad you ran out of metal... I made some gold looking Alu Bronze last week, with a big fail, you'll see in 2 hours. For the nuggets, you should try to water cast them. Have a piece of wood soaked in water and let the metal slowly drip off the wood into the water, this will make some nice metal shot, ideal to pretend as gold nuggets :) I will fire up my furnace today or sunday and cast some alu bronze ingots. Great shelves!

Bubbling metal has such a therapeutic noise. I'm working on a coal furnace for this summer. I'd love to make this metal.

This is a nice video, what I would do if I had a factory metal shredder, I would first melt the aluminum and tin(not at the same time) and after they both were cast into simple shapes, I would shred them(the aluminum anyway, I don't think the tin would be a very good powder) and also shred the copper into powder and melt everything together, also I just remembered zinc is also an ingredient, and I have some zinc and tin in simple shapes, I would also shred the zinc into a powder

I gotta do my thors hammer, I built a flask just for it, just gotta make sure I have enough petrobond to complete it. Maybe you could cast it in 2 halves and epoxy it together or make a sand core to fill in some space.

Could there be a more appropriate alloy for Thor's Hammer? :-D
