    About that "you can actually buy"... Nope, several of those can't be bought for any amount of money. The Harley isn't even in production yet (if ever), the Brammo is already history, the LS218 is such low production and high price that it can't be considered attainable, and so on.
    The only bike that is currently available internationally for an attainable price, has been in sufficient production for long enough to actually be available, is street legal and has decent performance and range is the Zero. But the Zero's major failing is lack of support for fast charging, and the available option is far too expensive and too slow. 2 hours is a lot better than 9, but it's not fast enough for real touring when the real-world highway range is barely 100 miles. (I have one.)
    We're still waiting for the Tesla of motorcycles to show up.

      Mark Haury the Harley will be available fall 2019 and has been seen on Road in Wisconsin. You gave no clue what you're talking about. The Livewire is not vapor ware.

    • @CowBeatsCrow
      @CowBeatsCrow 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know I'm 6 months in the future relative to your comment, but the Harley is entering production this year. It has a 140 mile range, full charge overnight with household outlets or 80% in 40 minutes and 100% in an hour for "level 3 public fast chargers", and it hits 60mph in 3 seconds. It is gonna be around $30K, though.

    • @haywoodjablome234
      @haywoodjablome234 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not Important To You actually it's available for purchase right now. It wasn't Vapor Ware after all. Now, will it make it??

    How do they make these bikes start off with low amount of torque without it flipping over as soon as you engage the throttle? Do they work by the slower you twist the throttle the slower & less power they have at initial take off?

  • @KaoruSugimura
    @KaoruSugimura 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Zero is the only one worth a damn here. Long range, comfortable enough to hit that range, the fastest on the list (aside from the LS 218) and, aside from the empulsa tt, it is the cheapest on the list. Even decked out with an extra battery and a second charge cable it still costs under 20k for their top of the line dsr. While most of these are 50k-100k depending on how you want it. All the bukes on this list aside from the LS and the Zero aren't even worth mentioning.

      I bought my Brammo Empulse R in 2013 and it's an awesome bike. I chose it over the Zero due to it's 6-speed manual transmission, chain drive (not belt) and compatibility with public chargers. Sadly, Brammo was sold to Victory, renamed the Empulse TT and unfortunately the model was discontinued in 2017.

      A 1 hour recharge after a 100 mile ride would get annoying very fast. E-Bikes should cost half the price of gas bikes not the same or more.

    Interesting in a novelty way. But not practical for what I need. When me and my friends go for a ride, it’s not uncommon for us to do 200 to 500 miles in one day.. I want to take my wife with me a lot of times. You need to carry your rain suit your tire repair kit water, jacket liner,ect.. I need locking bags and a faring. I don’t need fast, I need practical... 120 mile range is not good enough. That means you can only ride away from home 60 miles, and you have to turn around and go back home to charge your motorcycle batteries. We don’t even stop for breakfast until we have at least 50 miles behind us usually. That means we’d have to go home after breakfast on a motorcycle with only 100 to 120 miles of range.
    It’s interesting that they’re developing these electric bikes, and I’m sure the range will grow.. but I think coast to coast travel is pretty much out of the question with one of these novelty electric bikes.
    I have a friend that has a zero, he says, one good thing is, he can’t ride the bike long enough for it to hurt his ass
    ...But it is interesting, it’s just not for me

    Gas motors are like using a horse today. When a battery's goes 800 miles on a charge and then 1200 miles someday. Like the computer revolution in recent years, there will be no going back. Cars will last 500, 000 miles, motorcycles 300,000 miles someday in the near future.

      Toolmaker you’re an idiot, jet engines are far more advanced and superior, electric power still has over 100 hundred years of development to get where jet engines are now

    Not even my gas engine has as much power as some of this bikes, but the good thing is I can go 500 miles without gassing up, and I can refuel in 7 minutes.

    • @MrGoldarr
      @MrGoldarr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simon Jones are you serious? How much toxin can a motor bike make? Then don’t use electricity or cut the yard or buy food from stores, because you don’t know if they are using “ toxic” fumes to power their machines. I hope you are also driving an electric car, because gas cars are a death sentence to the earth.

      they have almost infinite more power than gasbikes .. so they need no gearboxes .. the fastest electric motobike accellerates 0-65 under 1 second .. an electric motor is much more effective than an ice

    Why buy these bikes when a Yamaha 115hp SXR900 sells for $9000 and can be refilled in 30 seconds for $15 of fuel after a 150 mile ride?
    A 1 hour recharge after a 100 mile ride would get annoying very fast. E-Bikes should cost half the price of gas bikes not the same or more.
