Another great review, Steve 👏🏾. We had a 2018 Equinox Premiere with the 1.5l engine which was enough for daily commuting, especially with extra boost from the turbo. Fun fact…I’ve been enjoying your videos as far back when you reviewed the 2005 Nissan Maxima with Myride. Your work definitely deserves all the praise. 🎉😁
The Equinox is heading into a woodchipper of a market. It has low power even among 4 cylinders, and no hybrid so fuel economy is also below average. The RAV4 is getting a redesign next year with 225HP and over 40 MPG on every model, so you have to REALLY want a Chevy to get this now
I’m not a fan of the current RAV4, but compared to the equinox, it’s more expensive to repair and insure. This Equinox has a better technology package, but maybe that’ll change with the new RAV. Sure, the Toyota will maintain value over time and probably last longer, but this currently looks far better. Let’s see what buyers prefer.
@@jeffwilson3527 It’s not meant to be sporty or a tower, but that’s fine for the price point. Comes a point in time where you get sick of insurance costs, maintenance, or even premium gas.
Agreed BUT ask the average Equinox buyer if they’d rather a well done, techie cabin with loads of features or a quicker SUV and the vast majority will tell you they don’t care about the drive.
These are still horribly unreliable and made so cheaply. Good luck getting a fuel pump for it because they’re always back ordered and GM still hasn’t fixed the issue.
Yes, I would prefer the EV, too, but CA will rip me off on registration fees yearly. The hypocrisy of the US govt. has no bounds. Drive an EV but we will charge you the gas you are not purchasing when you renew your registration...
No gas taxes + heavy vehicle = high registration fees to pay for the roads you are driving on. I guess they could charge tolls or tax electricity more to pay for the roads.

Nice looking SUV. The red and black color combo is especially appealing.
I agree

$40k for a 1.5T …
Thanks Steve, always fair and balanced.
Nice looking suv…but the Honda CRV and Toyota RAV4 owns this segment. I’d go for the hybrid CRV.
Fully agree.
The Equinox does well in fleet sales (business vehicles).
Everytime I drive my equinox at night the dash lights turn off and won't turn on until I stop the engine and restart????

Owned an equinox, you are correct. NO POWER.

Needs the 2.7L with a Turbo of course…
Looks good, expensive especially in AWD, and underpowered.
For previous or current Equinox owners and those who have worked on these, what are the most common issues?
needs a hybrid
As nice as this is, you’re stuck with the base six speaker sound system. No optional Bose system available.
I miss when chevys looked good, the Original Trailblazers 😢
So…it’s dog slow and less efficient than almost all of the top rivals. RAV4, CRV, Forester, etc.
Yep, makes perfect sense to be a GM product. 😆

@stevehammes
Then buy the Subaru Forester Touring model. Tops on Consumer Reports, AWD standard, plenty of goodies and reliable to boot.
Let SuperCruise trickle down to this vehicle, and we’ll talk.
Preach!
