10:05 SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANY TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMES YES!! I was the only black girl at my upper school. This means I was the only black female representative for the 7th-12th grade. The slavery questions came to me, the how does Obama being the first black president make you feel questions came to me.... UGH!!!
Faith Mississippi It was an excellent book. Don't mind them. You're not too young to read a good book with a good message. And as for the abusive language in the text, I'm sure you're old enough to understand the difference between colourful language you read in literature and what words you shouldn't actually say.
You might be a tad young, but if your parents and yourself have decided together it’s okay for you to read, then good for you! I know what it’s like to be an advanced reader (2nd grade reading 8th grade, 8th grade reading 12th grade, you get the picture), and my mother supported me all the way, so as long as your parents support you then i hope that this book becomes a permanent addition to your shelf!
I witnessed a riot in 2015 and 2020 I was 13 and this was really close to my home like right outside my doorstep so I remember it so vividly: me locking my brothers and I in my room and playing with their wrestling men all day not coming out until I had to get my nighttime medicine (I’m diabetic) and while I was out I saw my parents grabbing every knife they had and I asked what were they doing and they told me they were going to protect our house with whatever means necessary so I went back upstairs and took my insulin and took it back down and went up to go to bed as I had school the next day the 2nd I was 18 and I was a senior in high school (this was 2020) so I was on my phone when my dad told me Trump lost the election and now a bunch of white people were storming the White House and the TV was on CNN and it was maddening to think I saw 2 riots before I even turned 20
I am sooo late to the party but you must write another book. I just love your personality. Though I havnt read THUG yet (which i will be picking up today) I just know it will be great just by this interview. Thank you for writing this book.
I think the only thing i would have added to the book were good white cops-the bad ones exist, there is nothing in this world that would convince me otherwise-to better balance things on BOTH sides. This is one thing i loved about the film (i’m afraid to say i haven’t gotten my hands on a copy of the book yet), it had a balance of good and bad on both sides, the “don’t give them a reason to suspect you” BUT ALSO “don’t treat people like thugs and they won’t act like it. Give the kids a chance to become more than their neighborhoods or we’re all screwed.” Can’t wait to see if my school has a copy of it to read it for myself
ANGIE THOMAS - THE HATE U GIVE - 2017 medium.com/@JacquesCoulardeau/black-and-white-post-traumatic-slavery-stress-syndrome-dfa7d7af637a BLACK AND WHITE POST TRAUMATIC SLAVERY STRESS SYNDROME This novel is a manifesto on black literature, though the author does not know about that. It is vastly inspired by a rap singer she calls Supac and his famous album THUG LIFE, Volume 1 (1994). . . And wait for the Blacks to be freed from the prisons: there are at the present moment as many Blacks incarcerated in all prisons as there used to be slaves in 1861, and these prisoners all work for private businesses or for their prison administration for a pittance. That is modern slavery. This and that put together, it promises a very difficult wakeup call in a few years, even maybe in just plain one year to all the white supremacists or those who use white supremacy to conquer and consolidate their power. That’s how Obama won two elections with the majority of all ethnic minorities and a minority of the Caucasian vote: 20 to 25% of it is enough with 90% of Blacks, Latinos and Asians, non-Caucasians of all sorts. Remember Charlottesville, the modern version of El Alamo. Dr. Jacques COULARDEAU
its complicated but because if it was easy, we wouldn't learn, when we learn we will feel unstoppable and that's how we all should feel to grow, educate our selfs and others and share love and happiness. :) hope you have a good day!
I wonder if children should be given the other side to this story. Have you seen the many many dashcam videis of police officers (husbands/ daddy's/ sons) being shot to death along side the road because someone reached into their car? Have you? Well, it's pretty sad...so. if an officer commands you to keep your hands on the car, don't move. Do that. Simple. Your welcome
Starr wants a white boyfriend to p*ss people off, and it's to keep her worlds separate. (Might also be 'cos Starr's parents brought her up around so much Disney)
Not when they’re around adults it isn’t! When teens are alone, it can get... colorful is the best word i can come up with, honestly 😂 don’t let the sweet little faces fool you, teens have the mouths to make a sailor blush!

why does the lead have a white boyfriend?
davuism because he’s white in the book
brianna leah Why not?
Why shouldn’t she? :)
Because that’s who Starr fell in love with .
Starr wants a white boyfriend to p*ss people off, and it's to keep her worlds separate. (Might also be 'cos Starr's parents brought her up around so much Disney)
Shakur was a drug dealer--you're clapping for a drug dealer.
And you are Hailey in the book & movie
you are not being hunted by police
If you are black yes you are
Horrible book doesn’t represent teens and their social vocabulary
Hiphop Head does for me and a lot of friends and family members
I completely disagree. I'm in my early 20s and the vocabulary was on point
