I can watch this again and again as there are so many beautiful stallions to see. I recognise some of them as fathers of the foals and mares you've been looking after.
Breathtaking. The handlers have be tall, fit and strong to run and display those stallions at their best. Some were not as good as others. ALL the stallions were magnificent. Looks like a fun show.
They have to be. Also, as someone who has been a handler a few times, the more you can synchronize with your horse, the better.. and that is a *lot* of work, because Friesians can really *move*.. ❤️❤️❤️
Oh Yvonne! I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this! You are a fantastic teacher! Wow! So much to learn! It takes time and lots of practice to develop an eye for all that! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this and help us learn too! What magnificent specimens! I’d agree with the jury, although I wouldn’t have been upset if Fonger came in first. 🥰
@DarkXmiss I love them because they are friendly and cool horses. Easy to handle and not as nervous as other breeds. I had a bad fall from a horse as a teenager, and I am always a bit scared now when I sit on a horse. We have some Friesians in our village, and I feel super safe on them 🙂
@DarkXmiss my favorites used to be Morgans, before I fell for a dun gelding... I have no idea what breed he was; I cared for him several summers in my early to mid teens but I loved him for many years after that. It’s only later in life that the showy but sweet Friesians have won my heart.
Thank you so much for explaining all the different things the judges are looking for. All I know is that they are the most beautiful, graceful horse I have ever seen. x
Now I feel that I understand it better, although I still thought Fonger was the most beautiful in motion. Yvonne, you are so skilled at explaining each single element of a complicated picture! I know you must be using this same skill now to talk yourself through the elements of your rehabilitation!
It was very nice to have a play by play description of what the judges were looking for. I can not imagine having to pick the winners, they all looked so good!!
What a pleasure to watch these stunning stallions. Difficult choice to make for sure. I did have a couple of favorites. I also noticed each handler's showmanship during the individual showing of each horse. Some were much better with their horses. Also, some did all they could to keep up with the horses. To be sure, handling each of these swiftly moving stallions is difficult at best. I also think that much of the breaking out of the trot was more the handler's fault than the horse - it's all about keeping up with the horse and how the head was being held. I thoroughly enjoyed these showings. Tough decision to be sure. Thanks for letting us see a good bit of the class.
I learned a lot indeed, so fascinating! Thanks for this Yvonne!!! And those stallions.... magnificent!!! I never get tired of watching them trot so proudly and elegant in the arena!
JUST LOOK AT THAT BEAUTIFUL FRIESIAN TROT!!! IT'S ALMOST AS IF IT WAS A TRAINED BEHAVIOR... BUT IT'S QUITE A NATURAL WAY THAT THEY WALK...EVEN WHEN THEY'RE NOT TRYING TO IMPRESS ANYONE!!! I LOVE IT!!! THE HANDLER IS ALMOST INVISIBLE DRESSED IN WHITE; AND ON THE ICE!!! GOOD JOB BY THE HORSE!!! AND THE HANDLER!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
All so beautiful! Some of the horses have very long manes! They are lovely and or handsome on the horses! I can see, though, it may be harder to judge certain areas? The Friesian Horse is so beautiful! Thank you Yvonne! You did a great job in teaching! You are the Best, Yvonne! It was like I was right there with you! I learn more and more as time goes on! Thank you, again!🐎💖🐎💖🐎💖🐎💖🐎💖🐎💖🐎
Thank you for all the explanations it made it a little better to understand, these horse are just breathtaking it would be hard to accurately judge if I was the having to choose. Thank you again
So many beautiful horses. All the love and skill put into them is obvious. I do laugh about the handlers. They must train on their own to be able to keep up. Thank you so much for making the videos and such great captioning. I love reading your words you explain things so well.
They are all so magnificent, I would have a hard time picking a winner. lol. Best leave it to the experts. I love Jasper 366 and his long trot, as he appears to float. Everytime I see these Stallions I compare to him. Thank you for posting.
I'm so full of house pimples!!! Jehannes, yes. But the whole breed had me mesmerized 💖🤗💓💙🌹 Yvonne, you for great explaining how the Freisan horse is judged!! Thank you from New York!
Such magnificence and manners! One thing I've noticed (and perhaps it's only me,) is the forward motion and 'floatiness' or spring in a Friesian's gait causes a gorgeous head tilt (from ears down to muzzle) from side to side, as if the horse is tapping out the rhythm of its hoofbeat with its head. Not all friesians have it but when they do, for me that adds to their extraordinary beauty of movement.
Thank you so much for sharing this judging event and explaining as you did. There are plenty of "horse" terms I do not know, but, I think every one can see beauty when it trots in front of them.
Very interesting! They are all so beautiful. I love their gaits and heads held high regally. But it is interesting to learn how they are judged. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for posting this, I knew these horses went through inspections, but I've never seen one or had anyone explain the criteria that they are judged by. Very cool.
Seriously, as far as favorites (it's hard to pick whose best) I liked Alwin 469! He had that "Yeah Baby! I 💘 💘 💘 love it! I know I'm "bad to the bone!"
Friesian stallions are so magnificent. My favourite movement is the extended trot, can not remember what you call it. Thank you for your explanation of the Friesian stallion form ❣️
@@jessicas.6235 my part Arabian mare had a very beautiful extended trot, I would have to run full on to keep up, she always won a ribbon in the lead in class, mostly firsts and also seconds, her mane and forlock were so long and I had to trim her tail every couple of weeks to keep it off the ground. Friesian stallion's manes are amazing though, I have fallen so much in love with the Friesian horse breed, beautiful temperament.
They seem to float, effortless. These stallions seem so well tempered, that must be the result of handling. Does a stallions manners/personality ever factor into the decision made by a breeder? Are they all as well tempered as they appear?
Kate B Actually, yes! Potential breeding stallions only get approved, if they have ‚good stable manners‘ generally and behave themselves around mares and so on. They also need to show willingness to work and learn and so on. Being judged on that is part of the (very demanding) selection process for studbook stallions. But it probably also helps, that these people are absolute pros in handling them, of course.
Agree. And we know if the average offspring have a good temperament or not. With that information we look at the mare her temperament. We decided if it can be a match or not..
I did learn a lot..thank you. They are such amazing animals, so stoic and regal. I love to watch them ...now I know more ways to be watching them😊👍 thank you.💗
My Mom raised and showed German Shepherd Dogs when I was a kid 60s and 70s. This is basically the same thing. The Friesians are so beautiful they make me want to cry.
OH MY GOODNESS!! There's so many things to look for but because you explained it do well ... I can see it!! I liked Jounger, Jouwe, & Alwin. I was surprised Jouwe was so low in ranking... But like you said, they are all champions!! Thanks so much explaining, now when you go to shows I know how to pick them!! Jonah Rein will be in there one day with you watching out for him!!! 😃😀🐴
Thank you! Wonderful tutorial. I love watching animals move. Judging is very similar in many dog breeds . Structure, form, function and gait. Especially in working or sporting dogs… Magnificent line up!
Thank you so much for explaining how they are judged. I have watched many of these videos and wondered how they judge the stallions ,from what I see they are all stunning but I understand now and I agree that Jehannes was the best. ❤
Imagine the training needed to keep all those stallions calm and mannerly in each other's company. Imagine a dozen breeding stallions together and not one attempted fight!
That’s crazy, isn’t it? Would be interesting to see them when a mare is near, haha 😂 But generally speaking, Friesians are so relaxed and super easy to socialize.

I love this breed. One thing for sure...the handlers are in fantastic shape too. 😎
They have to be, knowing how strong and quick the Friesian Horse really is.

One more example, of the magnificence of The Friesian.... Farewell Jasper 366...... Stunning! Beautiful! Noble!

They are indeed all very fine horses! Jehannes moves with tremendous reach and suspension. I agree with the judges! 😉💜
I would be in awe if I was in the stands these horses just gracefully run like they're floating on air beautiful
Stunning...definitely they seem to be trending towards a finer body build yet maintaining the quality/form of the Friesian .
Karen Beattie I don’t know so I am asking: are these mature horses or have they some growth left??
@@bho-lj1jk these are horses that have made it into the stud book registry... so they are mature stallions (to my understanding)
FITZIEBLUE thanks, but what age? Still some growth left?? Their bodies will be more muscular ? Or they are as full as they get?
@@bho-lj1jk They are in the 9 to 12 year range as stated in the beginning of the video.
Susan York thanks, I missed that.
