There are those big words„sustainability“ and „eco friendliness“ everybody is talking about at the moment. What these people do here by building a house with natural materials that are already there right next to them is a master piece of that principle. And they have been doing this for thousands of years. It is done by their own hands and without all the big machines. And most important it is done by a community. These are the skills we have to learn about again! Thank you so much for sharing.
I totally agree! Here in the states, we live in houses as you mentioned made by machines and some materials that are not eco-friendly. Now speaking for those who are on social security, may end up losing their houses because of the government cutbacks and some who may lose their jobs and unable to pay their mortgage. What then if they have no family or no place to go. Many are elderly and cannot afford living in communities that are designed for them. When you build your own house like those in Africa and other countries, you rely on yourselves and have a community of support. I doubt the word 'homeless' applies there! Also, I'm sure they eat healthier than we do because they grow their own food without those pesticides, artificial products, preservatives, GMO's etc., and raise animals like chickens, cows, etc. to have for meat. The only thing keeping me from moving to a country like that is because I lost my son and when it's my time to transition, I want to be buried next to him.
Truly enjoyed watching the construction of the village home. As an architectural designer here in the U.S., I can appreciate the varied construction techniques used all over the world in each geographic region. I love the simplicity and functionality. Blessings to you queen.
I'm so impressed. From the red dirt, when it dries it becomes very firm and hard. My question about the roof is when it rains does water get in? I actually love start to finish.
Esther once again, you have another quality video, that gave invaluable information on how these thatched houses are built, God bless you and thanks.❤❤👍🏿
Hi ! what is the total cost of the project ? i like the roofing i am wondering if a metallic mesh will do good to protect the roof against strong wind ? I need similar house but with bambu as wood

The age groups in the community will build houses like this in my Igbo village back in the day. This must be a kitchen usually built separately from the the main house, which is usually much bigger and taller.
