One of my favorite moments in Zexal was during 2v1 duel Yuma and III against Semimaru where Atlandis equipped with Utopia did The Double or Nothing attack with 23600 attack points with some of the best attack animation of the show
Besides for Chronomally, the first time I was exposed to the idea of “Oop Arts” (Out of Place Artifacts) was the MegaMan StarForce RPG series. It’s a cool idea, that advanced tech ended up in the hands of ancient civilizations and we aren’t sure how. Personally, I don’t agree with the theory, since I think it devalues the ingenuity of these cultures. But, it is fun in fictional settings.
Oh yeah, totally agree. It's a fun NARRATIVE, but when people start applying it to real world cultures as real life explanations for things is when it gets hurtful.
Always loved weird history to do with Cryptids and OOP artifacts, so Chronomaly and Dangers have always been some of the coolest archetypes going. Love the idea artwork, especially of the floating city boss monsters which are incredible. Plus they look like some world ending machine
Nice to see you tackling one of my favorite archetypes! The Chronomolies always seemed neat to me. I like the simple xyz playstyle, the attack lowering OTK that synergies with Reptillianne of all things, and their theming overall is really neat!... even if most of the so-called OOPArts are easily debunked nonsense. Like, seriously, the amount of these that pervade popular culture despite being thoroughly debunked is kind of astounding. Atlantis in particular always sticks out to me. There's people who seem to legitimately spend their lives searching for it, despite the fact that the ONLY ancient source for it existing is a couple of books Plato wrote that were entirely fictional and full of allegorical cities. Searching for Atlantis is like searching for Arkham Asylum or Pallet Town but some people take it seriously. Those Plato books are called Timaeus and Critias, by the way, which brings everything back to Yugioh in a roundabout way XD
They are interesting to read about, I don't believe in these either, but I like looking at those videos. Even this "gangstalking" video tho it is sad for them. I saw this one like last week on bitchute about stickmans are actually electric currents or something. I found it on yt actually th-cam.com/video/X5_xhaGbQUI/w-d-xo.html like is said I don't believe in these, but it interesting to watch. Kinda like that big video on yt a few years ago with the high pitch talking cartoon guy saying like men are from Mars? And Jess are from the future? It's interesting to watch these videos, but I'd never believe them Edit: sick music and dogons
Sweet! I hope I did it justice and that you enjoyed! Yeah, it's unfortunate how...parasitic it can be? That's definitely the wrong phrase, but they've been ingrained in pop culture for so long that it's become it's own storytelling shorthand that people can draw on, which causes a feedback loop that makes it almost impossible to uproot. Which wouldn't be a problem in a vacuum if it wasn't tied up in some unfortunately problematic mindsets. And I had NO idea about the Timaeus and Critias books, now I've gotta do some digging! Thank you for sharing!
One thing I love about Yu-Gi-Oh is how much thought and attention goes into the archetypes, from the art to the names. I made a binder just for my favourite story as told through the cards.
So, fun OTK idea that I actually used to run. I actually ran a Gagaga deck years ago, and there's an easy OTK with the deck. If you use Gagaga Magician and Girl as materials for Machu Mech, you'll immediately give your opponent a monster with 0 ATK via the effect of Gagaga Girl, then let Machu Mech itself do the rest.
21:43 Golden Nova: reads "Number C" as "Number C" instead of "Chaos Number" Me, who finally finished ZEXAL: *visible confusion* 27:44 also nova: does something to earn back my respect.
I like to think that ancient civilizations could have been more advanced than we were, but an apocalypse happened, and we are living in a post-post-apocalypse (think Nasuca and the Valley of the Wind)
Another silly OTK I remember finding that involved Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech involved getting 5 monsters onto your field, including Machu Mech, equipping an opponent's monster with at least two copies of United We Stand, and then using Machu Mech's effect. United We Stand gives attack and defense to the equipped monster equal to 800 times the number of monsters on the field of the player playing it. With 5 monsters, this means that two copies of United We Stand gives 8000 attack to the monster it's equipped to, which allows Machu Mech's effect to do enough damage to one shot the opponent.
Would be nice if the Numbers aside from Atlandis got Chaos versions too, plus some synergy with Marshalling Field to make it more true to the anime. It's also funny to think that with RUM Astral Force, this deck can run Cyber Dragon Infinity.
With some support cards, it feels almost like Konami is trying to make it possible to build an "Arclight Deck" using a mish-mash of all the Arclight family's themes - Space for V/Quinton, Gimmick Puppets for IV/Quattro, Chronomally for III/Trey, and Heraldic Beast for Tron/Vetrix. I just wish they'd skip Spells/Traps that imply that mix and just make some crossover monsters that fill in that purpose, like a machine-type Chronomally that turns itself and something else you control into a Gimmick Puppet, or a Lv9 Machine that can summon a Puppet or Chronomally, or even a Link-2 Tannhauser Gate searcher that puts an extra body on board
18:25 I guess Laputa is also inspired by the Flying city’s as well.😂 I love coincidences like this. I didn’t even know that there’s Hindu lore about flying cities. Now “Castle in the Sky” makes a lot more sense.
I love Chronomaly. I know it's not the best archetype, but I really enjoyed playing it on Duel Links. Just one of those archetypes I'd love to build and play casually. Plus, I really like number monsters.
I love Chronomalies. Ancient artifacts are so cool! Here's some other tech cards that combine pretty well with the archetype : -Nibiru (again)! It's a Rock, searchable with Granite, but what makes it cool is its interaction with Machu Mech. Nibiru tokens have 0 original ATK, even when they gain ATK from the tributed monsters. So if you use Machu Mech on a Nibiru token, you will burn the ENTIERETY of the token's current ATK on their LP, sometimes achieving an OTK without even attacking! I think it's a good enough reason to main deck it, since it remains a pretty good handtrap otherwise. And it's an alien rock, so it's themed. -Number 103: Ragnazero is a must with Esperanza Glyph and Vimana. If you have your Glyph, just summon that single rank 4 and during the opponent's turn, you can use the trap to create a Vimana on the spot. And then you can not only use Vimana to negate an effect, but you can target an opponent's monster with the other effect to increase their ATK, before destroying them and drawing with Ragnazero. And it's also a Number so it's cool. -As something more silly, Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force because it has very funny interactions with the Chronomaly Xyz. It allows you to turn Chrononaut into the 4000 ATK Number C69, or to turn Chateau Huyuk directly into Cyber Dragon Infinity or Atlandis, or even to evolve Machu Mech straight into Chaos Atlandis to benefit from their Relinquished-like effect. Cool video, and merry christmas to you!
I've always loved the theming of this archetype as I am a huge fan of history and interesting artifacts. Ancient, forgotten civilizations of times long past.
Ranking up Atlandis to Chaos Atlandis and give the opponant a lava golem or play chain energy would be a funny way of winning, on turn one even if chain energy because the moment they try to do anything on their first turn they would burn themselves for their 100 remaining life points.
Oh yeah, for sure. I'd never want anyone to think I should be the last word on ANYTHING like this. I'm a guy who scans Wikipedia to provide some context, but I should always be a doorway, not an endpoint. In YGO or otherwise.
Ironically, it’s pretty on theme for the OoPAtrs archetype to have an out of place support card for another archetype, especially one still based on ancient items.
Was experimenting in YGOPRO, here's my current result: 1. Chateau huyuk + machu otk combo is really difficult. I always found to lack 1 lvl 4 monster, and needed 3 copy of trillithon to compensate it 2. Vimana is blessing. Easily summoned wth moai and acambaro, and useful negates 3. Acambaro is an option to save in hand since it prevents destruction, and you can SS it next turn 4. Traptrick is a good support. Search esperanza, NS or SS tuspa, send any chronomaly ED monster then SS it. Packed 1 chrononaut for situational chateau huyuk summon 5. Raigeki! Better than lightning storm since backrow covered by twin twister
12:30 I'm a creationist and still trying to figure out where their ideas come from with that. I won't go into it here in case anyone wants to listen, but the short of it is that the Bible speaks of time as a very long thing, often regarding "Days to God" being 1000+ years apiece. So the "Days" of creation could easily have been millions or billions of years since the Bible is pretty vague anyway. Every time I hear other creationists rally around Dinosaurs and Humans coexisting it bothers me since even the Bible doesn't support that viewpoint. If those figures are legit, I'd wager it was from a dude finding fossils then sculpting what he thought they might be, then it became a local meme. It do happen.
