DJ YAS (Kemuri Productions)
In the early 90's, he began producing music by sampling and established his own style. He made his debut as a DJ/Trackmaker for the group LAMP EYE (RINO LATINA II, GAMA & DJ YAS) in '95, and in '96 he produced「証言」(Shogen), the well-known Japanese Hip Hop track that’s now considered a classic. While playing an active role in KAMINARI-KAZOKU. and Kemuri Productions, he worked on many projects with various artists, both in Japan and abroad, releasing a number of productions and remixes. In '00, he released the double album『ライト/LIGHT』and『Smoking Gun』in '05 under his solo alias. He also co-produced the mini album『Angler Fish』with Tommy Guerrero, a Breakbeats album, and a number of analogue only productions.
The notorious DJ group Kemuri Productions was formed in the mid 90's, led by DJ YAS, with original member and master DJ KRUSH, DJ KENSEI, HAZU, and DJ HIDE. They pushed boundaries, experimenting with live performances with 10 turntables, proving the possibilities of DJing and hugely impacting the scene at the time. In 2005, for the 50th anniversary of Tokyo Disneyland, he was selected take the lead in working on the album『Break & Beats Disney』. The following year, he performed at "Bayside Beat", a 3-day club night held at Tokyo Disney sea.
In recent years, he's been releasing 7 inch records through KP Records, organizing and co-hosting parties such as [SUPER PLUME], [TIGHT], [BARREL], and continues to perform all over Tokyo as well as nationwide. 2021 marked his 20th year as the director for『JUST CHILLIN’』, a weekly program for the Hip Hop channel (466ch) on the broadcast station 「STAR digio」, where he broadcasts 3 hours of non-stop mixes with Ben The Ace, DJ Shigeki, and DJ Mogg.
