Hello, thank you for listening to our music. I hope it gives you some joy and pleasure.
I am pleased that you have discovered our music through this medium. I view this experience as the equivalent of previewing a record in a record store in days of old. However, if you wish to experience the music in its' fullest form, I would strongly encourage you to acquire it in a physical format you can bring into your home. Not only will you then be able to experience the richest version of the music sonically, but you will also be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the tangible artwork, which was conceived in tandem with the music, and serves as a further portal to experiencing the total conceptual and spiritual and emotional content of the work we have labored, lovingly, to bring to you.
I love you,
Michael Gira / Swans / Young God Records

Lets hear it for Frankie
Seems like he was a good 🔌
frankie frankie...

frankie killed herself AAAAAAAA AAAAAAA
The first ten minutes are breathtaking
This entire album's breathtaking
yes, but especially this one
It sure took a lot of breathing to accomplish.
So are the last ten
shut up nerds
Gira sneaking "mdm...a" in the rhyming scheme made me laugh really hard.
am thee am ... A ... Frankie M Thee M ... A ... Frankie M - Frankie Y ??
@@obliviousassassins Does 3-mmc even vaguely resembles the complete euphoria of pre ban Drone ?
Might sound funny to you but after all the 4-mec cuts and similar rubbish I completely gave up till today - lost interest even though I will never forget that substance ... I have never got to the rock bottom compulsiveness of days without end doing it so it´s all very fond memories for the most part .
Curious you reminding me of something I´ve been considering lately . 3-mmc that is .
@@obliviousassassins " Edge of total insanity " is actually a great word to describe my state once I discovered MDPV not only could , but SHOULD be smoked ( as opposed to inhaled ) .
Thanks for the info . Yeah , you definitely now what you´re on about - from what I read here and there ,what you described above coincides with my best expectations . Nice one .
Which moment?

C'mon Michael, I think you know why we're here haha. Also, thanks a ton for being patient and signing all my CDs back at the 2016 D.C. show, even though I was super flustered and tried to hand you the whole stack of them at once.
I honestly think this is Swans best work
Hard to say, the whole discography is sublime! But for me, yes is one of the best journeys without a doubt! I listen to this album, almost every day.
To Be Kind and a bunch of other albums are fierce competitors, but yeah--totally agree. My personal favorite.

This is definitely my favourite Swans album. Most of my friends here in England tend to agree, while many Americans I know lean towards To Be Kind as their favourite album. And I know one who prefers The Seer.
Holy crap this band is like no other, a new favorite!
What a song!!! So soothing and cathartic, some of Swans' best work ever.
i made a huge, huge mistake putting off listening to this album
One of the best albums of the past 10 years, from any artist, from any genre. Mind-expanding.
The ending has to be one of the most satisfying things ever in a piece of music. Something about the buildup in the last few minutes feels like I’m holding on for dear life until the release hits and I can finally catch a breath. I’m truly upset that I waited this long to get into this band.
I liked the last 20 minutes and 59 seconds.
The part that starts from 15:40 until the end is the most intoxicating moment in all of rock discography if you're listening it with headphones
This is as good as music gets.
yup
What about 100 gecs
Hotpocket Jones lmao thanks i rarely laughed that much to a comment xDDDD
One of the songs that got me into producing music! Thank you Micheal for this work of art that transcends labels

I remember the first time I heard this when I saw your guys for the first time at the Roundhouse in London, it was the most bonechilling thing I ever experienced.
Haunting, unrelenting, all-encompassing beauty.
God bless Gira
I listened to this song passively for my first few listens through this album, so I never really noticed just how epic the first 7 minutes or so are, with the chanting and buildup… the first time I actually paid attention and noticed this section I was floored
The intro is the soundtrack to standing in the middle of a desert sandstorm
hello SWANS, thank you
Amazing Amazing Amazing
I was 25 years old listening Swans in Bulgaria. This is a true poetry
I was not aware that I could hold my breath for a full 21 minutes... until this song took my breath away.
i was listening to this while i was getting back home on a van on a hot summer day and this song made the sunlight 4 times warmer

Man, I would love to watch a movie soundtracked by Swans
The upcoming Blood Meridian adaptation, maybe? Only a dream.
8:00 is just so addicting to me, insanely groovy and love the drone, not to mention the drums crashing off of one another too
I like Malcolm in the Middle too
Best comment!
Bliss.
Thank you Swans, thank you Michael, for being there, hanging on and creating this great music. much love. Stay alive!
This song is about Frankie Muniz ending his acting career and becoming an open wheel racer and a dancer 🕺

yes
I mean... why not yeah
One of the best songs ever
Una deidad en la musica
I saw a live performance of this on TH-cam, and at the end of the song Michael said this song was dedicated to “the beautiful thurston moore and his beautiful friends “ could Frankie m be connected to thurston and sonic youth? Maybe Michael and thurstons work with glen brancha? Or possibly early early swans? I’m super curious on this one
Swans & Sonic Youth spawned from the same NYC Underground scene & were long contemporaries. I think he's just paying homage to his roots.
It's not unlikely, they reference them a few times on this album.
yep. there are some photos of the members together and they also toured together in the early 80
Thurston Moore is a pretentious poser.
THEY PUT AN AD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SONG WTF
8:08 to 11:20 reminds me of the main riff from Love of Life.
thanks for that
Renaissance
Who is / was Frankie M? This song is amazing
I choose to believe it's a reference to the song "Frankie Teardrop" by Suicide.. When I first looked at the actual lyrics it was the very first thing that popped into my head.
most likely about Frankie Machine since theres heavy drug mentions, I thought of Suicide's self-titled too at first but it seems a bit of a stretch imo since there's no connection I can see in the lyrics other than sharing the name Frankie (great song though, those screams will always haunt me)
@@svp6055 Gira has said that he used to listen to Suicide a lot and was a key inspiration for Swans' early days. While it might be a stretch, there is no doubt a connection, perhaps subconscious influence from exposure.
I love you, Michael. I look forward to seeing you again the next time you're in Portland.
This song is like how Lycia and Swans will sound if they ever decide to jam together.
Shut up !
0:00 to 8:07 is almost more Dune-esque than Dune itself
Reminds me of Peter Venkman I & II, by Ben Frost.
Not for nothing Ben Frost wrote "we love you Michael Gira"
Who's Frankie M?
Supreme song.
Top 10 swans song
I always thought that this song is about the frankeinstein junior monster. Because its Frankie for Frankenstein and M for Monster. And also because Gira says "Live again" and "Rise again", which is exactly what the Frankenstein monster does.
That's a really good interpretation. Where would the drug notations fit, though?
Excellent!!!
If Hakita and yourself made a track for Ultrakill, no doubt you could make a killer Treachery soundtrack in the same style as this piece!
I just realized that that is something Hakita would definitely do.
we need Swans for P-3
This song is about that poor kid from Malcom in the Middle.
Frankie M on Google Play Music has no lyrics? It's not this.
The first part reminds me of Prince of Persia
hey i love that game!
I refuse to even try. I refuse to even try.

Favorite Swans song. Heard this the first time whilst reforming the Roman Republic in EUIV: Conquered the last bit of Britain as I heard "Live again. Rise again".

Hatt Hanz Definitely a heavenly and satisfying moment of the song, but no I came her for the whole thing.

Malcolm in the middle was great
Why has every swans song a 10 min intro that you can skip?
biggestfanofroger First ten minutes is the best part.So surreal.
Ha! What is this guy add, 20, or just insipid? Probably all three! Why exactly do you care about contemporary swans?
Because you are such a cretin that your mind can´t even process an " intro " being inseparable from a " song ". Nothing too worrying - you´ll get there .
biggestfanofroger eh i like it but i can see where youre coming from. Their droney single chord over and over approaches isnt effective for me either if im not feeling it. Its kind of like meditation, its useful for me, but only if im feeling it, otherwise its not appropriate
Outsider isnt everything?
