- Joanie Loves Chachi is an American television spin-off of the popular American sitcom Happy Days that was originally broadcast on ABC from March 23, 1982 to September 13, 1983. It stars Scott Baio and Erin Moran as the titular Chachi Arcola and Joanie Cunningham, respectively.
The series follows the exploits of Joanie and Chachi as they moved to Chicago and tried to make it on their own with a rock band and a music career. It mixed the traditional elements of a sitcom with musical performances on each show by Baio and Moran. In fact, the beginning credit sequence of the show had them singing to each other. Their backup band consists of a spaced-out drummer named Bingo and Chachi's blase cousins Mario and Annette.
The series also starred Ellen Travolta as Louisa Delvecchio, Chachi's mother, and Al Molinaro as Al Delvecchio, Chachi's stepfather (and formerly the owner of Arnold's Drive-In in Happy Days), who opened a restaurant in which Chachi and Joanie performed most of their music. Art Metrano played Chachi's uncle Rico Mastorelli, who was the band's manager and helped Joanie and Chachi advance in their careers. Actress Winifred Freedman played Rico's daughter, Annette, Chachi's cousin, and bandmate.

So sad what happened to her. She's got her whole life in front of her in this video. Nothing but good things on the horizon. But it didn't turn out that way. That what sometimes happens with fame.

@Marty McFly You really liked that movie "Back to the Future" and I really liked that movie too. I was sad about Erin Moran and she lived in a trailer park in Indiana and I was surprised that she died. She was so young when she passed away. I was shocked that she died but I don't know what she died from. So, I only wish the best for her in peace. She was so cute and a fine actress. She really dated Scott Baio and he was the one who broke up with her. She really loved him but Baio was a bit of a player and had gotten into trouble with a young actress from one of another popular TV series because the girl was under age. The last time that I have seen him was on Touched by an Angel.

❤ Retro TV greetings from coastal Mississippi. This was a spin off of Happy Days. I enjoyed watching this series, even though, it didn't stay on long. Also, love the theme. When shows used to have theme songs. RIP Erin❤

Yes… she had a lovely singing voice, and should’ve put out an album. Scott Bain did but she didn’t :( the videos of this series and the happy days episodes where she sings are the only records of her singing voice

Reality TV is extreme garbage TV and this show is way better than any sad sitcom on today. There isn't one sitcom today, that even interests me 1%.

My childhood was full of pain and trauma and watching you on Happy Days and listening to you sing would always make me happy. I just loved Joanie. I hope you have found peace and joy that you couldn't find in this world.
I remember watching Happy Days in our 15 foot trailer in the woods on Lopez Island. We had an antenna on a long wooden pole we would turn to catch the signal. I miss the simplicity and sweetness of those days.
class, the quality of tvs were crap back then (im in england) until the Japanese got into the market..
So tired of people making fun of these type of shows. I rather watch this than all the obnoxious reality shows that are on TV today.

back in the 70s and 80s, it seems like TV intro songs were made to make an impact/set the tone of the series.
Miss this kind of shows 😔...it may not have ran as long as happy days but it made a mark...thanks to reruns we get to relive those years gone by...times of simplicity and respect...just plain simple entertainment every evening...

It was weird because Joanie always wore her hair contemporary even though this takes place in the early 1960’s. There’s so many timeline mistakes I’ve found in the “Happy Days” universe.

This show was in the 80s ..a spin off of Happy Day's from 70s to 80s n yes I grew up watching both n wished the spin off lasted longer.
For a show that was supposedly set in the 60s it sure had a mellow 80s style adult contemporary theme song.
Yes, it’s quite possible that this show would have been more successful if it had stuck with the 60s theme, which was what people loved about Happy Days, and which would have been appropriate for a Happy Days sin off.

I really don't get why people never gave JLC a chance. It's a very underrated show. Only thing I can guess is that when it came out, Happy Days was sinking in the ratings and most people by that time had Happy Days fatigue. I thought that it was good and a shame the public never gave it it's due. RIP Erin Moran

Scott Baio has the distinction of being one of only two HD actors to have starred in *two* of its spinoffs, the other being Eddie Mekka.
Baio previously played Anthony on Blansky's Beauties, and Mekka played Carmine on L&S and Joey on Blansky's.
The Miller-Milkis-Boyett-Bickley-Warren team made good use of its cast members, many of whom appeared on several of their shows.
Here is the problem I see: the song was beautiful but like you never saw this band as paying their dues in the studio buying time to record anything. Like you would think in the mid-1960's they would've made these characters into like Gerry Goffin and Carole King. They would've been songwriters for other people. At first. Singing for their beer with Bingo meanwhile but coming up with hits for then-up and coming artists. And those could have been played by future icons like George Clooney.
That would have been a great concept for the show. But given the carelessness to historical accuracy (and other matters) of most Garry Marshall-fronted shows towards the end of their runs, I highly doubt realism was on producer's minds at this point.

The Playmates got him, I don’t know any famous People but in my dreams I had all the time as A little girl I use to dream of him, my parents use to laugh and say my eyes got big like a Saucer when I watched him on t.v because I could never miss this show,some of the best days of my life makes me wanna cry! I think certain people put the show down, because they aren't acting like sex fiends. They are behaving like two young adults, who are able to express their love, without going crazy. The show was catered to fit the times of back then, not now. The networks were trying to encourage families to feel safe to watch as well. The show might not have stayed on long, but they made plenty from happy days. Especially, Erin Moran. She may have fallen on hard times, but she is still a human being. I think some people love to see celebrities fall, out of jealousy. At least alot people still remember her, and she enjoyed her time with fame and fortune. She probably gave up her acting career for marriage, and to have children.
These were the good old days. Now Chachi is parading around like a fool singing the praises of Trump. Sad.

There are, "no other words." It just boils down to if this is not someone's cup of tea, then don't watch it. No one is forcing negative, narrow minded individuals to be fans. Like I already said the show had thousands and thousands of fans, and great popularity. For anyone that comes way after this point, it doesn't matter what they say or think. Apparantly, the networks knew what they were doing and things worked out well enough for the time being. Maybe, if we had more morality in the present times, so many people wouldn't be running around acting like unintelligent savages.
