Preserved GM Buses Leyland Olympian 3065 B65 PJA 16th July 2023

As a child I have to put it out there that the GM standard spec Leyland Olympians were NOT my favourite buses. My 7 year old self determined that from the back they always looked "angry" whereas as the Atlanteans looked "happy". Fortunately we did progress from this line of thought as I got older, but as it inevitably is with these things, I really only started appreciating them when they were nearly gone.
One of the last places I could get them was on the 34 peak service from Manchester to Leigh as they were mostly allocated to Bolton and Bury by then (aside from the Stagecoach Magicbus ones plying their way along the student corridors in South Manchester) so it was nice to get another ride on one when 3065 was being used by the Manchester Transport Museum on their heritage bus route on the 16th July 2023. It did disgrace itself during the day by having gearbox problems, but as you'll see in an accompanying video from the day it gave way to something that wasn't just "nice to catch up with" but ABSOLUTELY EPIC!
