Hi Christopher thank for your feedback and Inquiry! The bass reproduction is accurate and clean with very low colouration. Importantly the "box sound" effect due to the application of the bass reflex design is also very low, mainly because of a good design and careful attention to internal bracing, damping and matching with the bass driver. Depending on the quality of the recording the Max 1 can reproduce full bodied bass but in general it is more on the dry side. It is also very important to match the two drivers (compression driver tweeter and bass driver) in terms of level, phase and smooth transition between the two drivers to create a realistic sound stage. If you match the Max 1 with warm sounding equipment (typically such as achieved from valves/tubes) you will be rewarded with good sonic quality. Enjoy the music!
When you took out the horn and woofer were they using wood screws or nuts and threaded bolts so you can take on and off without stripping the screw holes?

I partner my Unison Research amp with Zingali speakers. I suspect that is quite a common combination and UR have used the Zingali design approach with their own speakers. How do they compare to Zingali's?
@@Feix I think the Overture's are the same generation as my Preludes. The woofer in my left speaker has started to fail. Zingali can't replace it because they don't have any more. I can't bear to see them go to waste for the sake of one driver and because of the wood horns. I would like to get them fixed and then it's probably time to replace them. My head says audition all the new speakers (but then it's amps as well). A small part of my head says new Zingali's are sure to meet your expectations so you won't get sucked down the expensive rabbit hole that is HiFi.
@@earthstick preludes should use Ciare Woofers...but as far as I know they are madento spec. What is the issue you are having...maybe best option would be to search for a good speaker clinic, because they can certainly rebuild that woofer
@@Feix I'm in the UK. I've looked for places to repair them and they all say no. The UK distro diagnosed the fault. The voice coils I think have insulation around them and the insulation has started to expand. It rubs against the inside of the housing and makes a rattling distortion at certain frequencies. I will see what I can find relating to Ciare and Madento.

Nice video, but sorry folks, cables do not have a sound on theor own. It os physically impossible. Even if it is very long and thin the dampening lf the hogh frequency would not be discernable, and this would be rhe only reason for perxeives differences in a non linear amplitude frequency relation. Please do not spread wrong and misleading opinions which are due ro placebo effects and confuse fooled perceptions and misconceptions with generally agrees upon facts. Why didnt your wife talk about ther likings of the speakers? Does she like them? Why did you chose the Max 1 over, lets say, the Max 2, Klipsch heritage speakers, Blumenhoders, Avantgardes, Acapellas, Horns, Zingali, Odeon or others?

I am sure you are aware there are two camps related to interconnect and or speaker cable perceived performance impact on sound quality - the ones that confirm the impact of "cables or interconnects" related to audio performance and the ones that don't. In my opinion cables are comparable to different types of tyres on a vehicle. Now some people will say tyres don't have an impact on the ride quality while others will - but luckily one can decide this for yourself, and the same is true for audio. Related to the Max 2's we had the opportunity to review them, so we decided to do just that. The Max 2 speaker system has a very unique sound signature and that's the reason for not comparing them with many of the other designs you mentioned. But did we enjoy our time with the speakers - yes we did ! If you enjoy a very open sound with good projection and punch, you will also enjoy them !
