    I remember crystal blue sapphires where the bottom of the barrel in terms of value as they mainly come on E plates and some F plates. They often fell into the hands of scruff and ended up being broken for parts after being abused to death. As a result the crystal blue cars are now quite rare compared to the others.

    That flutter noise is an instant like

    I bought one that colour in 1989 F plate for £19300 with a Ford ticket should have been 24k. Loved that car, went to South France in it, had crowds around it at every petrol station going down. Didn't have many cars overtake it either if only I had known lol.

    Great video, I love this colour..I do think mileage isnt to important, its about the condition of the car and how well its aged and been maintained. Moving parts need to move.

      You’re no rs owners club freak are ya
      Proper chavvy outlook on a Cosworth miles don’t matter
      Well it does on a cosworth and leggy tarted up Cosworths are worth nowhere near a low miler
      🤣

    Really enjoyed that I agree with everything you said such a great all rounder always found the saffire a very handsome car 👍

    Brilliant car. Absolutely love this era like the Escort Cosworths and so on. As much as the Golf R and other similar vehicles (i.e. the S3) are brilliant machines without a doubt, they have fooled most young adults my age into thinking they're Michael Schumacher level racers because they can take bends flat out - I say bring back turbo lag and two driven wheels!

      Unless, of course, you own a Sapphire 4x4 :)

      That's because none of them know how to drive a manual properly

    • @whynotagain3639
      @whynotagain3639 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get a manual 2016 BMW M235i and you'll relive some of that feeling with almost twice the power too. No lag but plenty of drifting round roundabouts!

    • @charliebelton1994
      @charliebelton1994 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whynotagain3639 but they sound awful, still have far too many electrical aids, and no LSD as standard.
      But I'd agree the m235i is about as close as modern car gets to the rawness of an 80s/90s car.

    • @whynotagain3639
      @whynotagain3639 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@charliebelton1994 mines got the M-peformance exhaust and sounds as nice, loud and burbly as any 80-90's car, even with just a panel K&N filter you can hear the intake flutter. You can switch off all the aids and very easily drift and donuts, it doesn't slam the breaks on like my five pot ST would with supposedly all the aids off!
      It sounds as good as my beloved Calibra Turbo 4x4 (that was a Cosworth head, but had no badge so they were all broken by luncatics to make deathtrap Nova's or Corsa's lol). I wish I still had my Calibra, it was a Sierra and Escort Cosworth contender! 😔

    Love the car, real british classic, but.... and there is a but, I'm not to sure about the flutter.
    Turbo flutters sounds better on jdm cars such as supra, skyline etc, but that's just me

    The big question is Jamie, would you ever consider a Cosworth as a next car after the S1? The Cosworth is the only car I’d consider that would be a level up from the Escort in terms of mainstream Ford RS kudos.

    Just bought an 88 RWD 66k 2 owners had a 3x 3 doors over the last 5 yrs too and jus sold a 911 to buy the Saph. Amazing cars its about the nostolgia for me and when Ford made great cars. Sure modern stuff will run rings around it (my daily is an S3) but thats not the point. Its how a car makes you feel and with a Cossie its an event!

    You mentioned about picking one up whatever they was in the era. I’m 47 and when I was 21 you could pick a good sapphire 2wd up for £5500. Sadly I couldn’t afford that at the time, had several S1’s though 😢 obviously I shouldn’t have sold

  • @mattwarren69

    I had a 2wd saph cossie in magenta with raven leather. I sold it for peanuts 20+ years ago. Doh!

    Still prefer the older v6 xr4's over the cosworth yes they was not as fast but much more retro and sounded a lot better... wish i had never sold my xr4x4 :)
