  • We begin the install of our Reelcraft air hose and electric cord reels in the new shop space. I have several to install that will help provide shop and and electric to any location in the shop and conveniently and cleanly. We're also going to use our Evolution Power Tools mag base drill to help us with the drilling of the beams to mount our reels on.

    Been a subscriber since Adam's humble beginnings... I really miss those days... I have learned a lot from Adam... I hope I will learn more someday... I love you Adam but I got say, I miss the old content... I don't want your channel to fail, you have so much more skill and knowledge to share other than this kind of content... just my humble opinion but I think most of us that watch your channel know what good products are... I liked when you use to be building or machining something and you would come across a product every now and then that you liked and would recommend it but now it just seems to be to much...I know you are genuinely a great guy with a big heart and wishes you all the best... Your friend and continued subscriber,

      i don't mind plugging stuff from time to time, but let it at least be domestic, well used and tested and be freaking clear about what is a plug and what is not.

    Try turning the mag drill the other way with the chuck down. Chips fall down away from mag base. Use a cord around the mag base to suspend a catch can to catch chips and cutting lube. Keeps base clean. That is a great looking mag drill. Thanks. Love the new shop!

      I had the same thoughts about the chips falling onto the drill. Personally I thought the mag drill looked cheap and flimsy but I guess you have to sacrifice to save weight and cost if you want a mag drill.

    Those are awesome hose reels! Especially with the new controlled return!
    My suggestion for your nylon quick connect fittings going into the reels is to install some 45 or 90 degree fittings that way you can have the nylon air line closer to the reel and not sticking out as much and less stress on the line

    When using a mag drill on vertical surfaces it is advised to add a safety tether to keep from dropping the machine should power fail or you bump the magnet off switch by mistake. It is also possible to cause it to pop off thin metal surfaces. The magnet prefers thicker metal. I have a Jancy slugger version of that unit. I have had mine over 35 years.

    38:50 ... Just a tip you're using he mag drill upside down. When you have it mounted the other way the chips and cutting fluid (if any used) don't stick all to the mag. This is also a safety issue, one chip under the mag greatly reduces it's holding power!

    One suggestion for the hose reels. Get whip hoses. The ends where the coupler is always gets beat up first. Better that a three or four foot whip hose gets beat up before your fifty foot hose does. Almost sixty years of experience taught me that a very long time ago. All my air tools had whip hoses. They pay for themselves by not ruining the reels.

I mounted it on the front wall between the garage doors. Great location for outside use as well. I do have two other drops on the wall at either end of the bench on the back wall. That Reelcraft improvement to slow down a rogue rewind is great.

    I would switch the air fittings on the hose reels out for 90 degree fittings. It will look more professional as well as put less stress on the supply hose. I’ve actually seen the wear from not using 90’s on hose reals that swivel first hand and dust goes flying everywhere when they finally give out.
    Secondly as a former Firefighter I wouldn’t place your oxygen and acetylene bottles next to or so close to your office. Only thinking about your safety as it looks as if you only have the one entrance and exit.

    I sell Reelcraft, magdrills along with annular cutters. He’s got some pretty serious money there. Jeez
    Although, I will say mag drills are a life saver. Well worth the money. I sell one we call a “frame drill” that is super compact and lite. I use it all the time on all sorts of stuff. Wherever I can.
    Btw. When the metal is too thin for the drill to magnetize to. Take another small piece of plate and stick it behind the beam in this case. I do the same for aluminum drilling. Back it up with a plate of steel and you can use it on aluminum too. Well, if the magnet is strong enough on that particular drill. But works great if it is.

Needs to start taking jobs IN that shop, unless this is 100% a 'hobby' shop, and then it's WOW, that's an EXPENSIVE hobby shop...LOL.

    • @WreckDiver99

      $20K would be CHEAP if he's paying the lease. My area a 2000 Sq.Ft. Industrial shop is $9/sq.ft. excluding utilities...so that shop is going to be more like $20K/MONTH...$240K/year!!!! WITHOUT utilities. This puts his investment (if he had actually purchased all the tools) at north of $500K in the first year. That's some serious ground to recover.

    Looking better every day.
    I believe the IRS made some changes for small business in that they can purchase equipment etc. and not have to depreciate them over a few years as before. Meaning, 100% deductible the same year, which seems like a great start.

    $1,040 for a 12/3 100’ cord reel without the swivel mount is pricey. That’s beyond my budget and you’re installing a half dozen units. More power to you - no pun intended.

Pedestrian videos like hose reels, lighting, and compressors detract from your work. Love ya brother.

    DRILLING into structural beams of a rented building?

    • @WreckDiver99
      @WreckDiver99 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure...most "industrial" areas allow all of that. I mean he bolted his jib crane to the floor, mounted his Mr. Cools to the walls, and drilled through the building. No issue with drilling into those beams. I'm sure if it was THAT big of a deal he could have welded a plate to the beam, and when he was ready to move out he could cut those plates off, grind the beam flat and paint it....but nah, those holes won't do anything.

    • @tihs87
      @tihs87 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      drilling cutting grinding we do it all. thats why we have a welder too!
      and lets be serious for a second, like Wreck said such holes wont do anything. more than that engineers are putting much bigger holes in structural beams for purpose!

    I agree with some of the commenters from the previous video. The compressor should have been located on the mezz next to the extra pressure tank. The company who ran the blue pipe is not nearly as good as you think they are. They should have put tees on the mail line for you to connect the reels to so you do not have the ugly black line tie wrapped to the pipe going back up. Also the blue pipe should NOT be on the roof of the mezz. It should be on the wall of the mezz, on the inside of the outside wall or on the ceiling (to hit the corner of your office where the two reels are.) I do envy all your new equipment and shop though.

    • @WreckDiver99
      @WreckDiver99 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thought the same thing. I want to say that he posted something about the compressor and the mezz on Instagram or FB. Something wasn't going to work...I can't remember. I agree that the pipe run is HORRIBLE. Much better ways of running that.

    • @goose300183
      @goose300183 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, having that pipe right on the edge of the roof - that kills off easy forklift access to put a pallet up there. MIGHT be doable with super long forks, who knows! Also yeah, floor space is precious, the mezzanine doesn't seem so critical, so anything that can be up there should be, in my opinion.

    • @WreckDiver99
      @WreckDiver99 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@goose300183 agree 100%. Floor Space is KING! Only thing that comes to mind? Load limits. Some of those lego built shops like this, their mezzanines are rated for like 10lbs per sq.ft. That compressor may weigh in at 200 lbs or more and use 5 sq.ft. which would put it over the weight limit.
      I think Adam had a FB or IG post about it not working out on the mezz, and he really wasn't happy, but was "this happens sometimes".

    The new shop is really coming along! With the CNC mill coming, that's most of the big machines in place, although the "little stuff" amounts to almost the cost of the machines once it's all brought in, lol. Sometimes I wonder if most of the viewers realize that something like one of those big Super Spacers costs about as much as a knee mill..

    I'm glad to see this video as I've been toying with buying one of these mag-drills. There are a few other videos that show them in action also. Others might last longer but this is light enough to use. Those reels are a thing of beauty. No more hoses and cords all over the ground. I do have pause about the electrical box so close to fuel and oxygen tanks. Also, the extinguisher needs to be away from all of the above.

  • @bearbon2
    @bearbon2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the lightweight mag drill. I have a Milwaukee and it's like lifting a sack of cement. I also thought it would be less strain on the air hoses if you used a 90 degree fitting on the reels.

  • @ryanlukens9280
    @ryanlukens9280 ปีที่แล้ว

    Adam, there are 90 degree fittings available for your air lines. It may make it easier on the lines, especially that first one near the large garage door. Two major manufacturers for those fittings are Parker and John Guest. They also make the tubing as well. Most of the air fittings are pressure rated for up to 150-200 psi depending on which range you get, some even more for heavy industrial use.
