We'll all the intermediate station stops served by Coaster commuter trains including Carlsbad Village, Carlsbad Poinsettia, and Encinitas. In addition, we will take a look at some of the major infrastructure improvement work that has been performed on this section over the last decade.

This really takes me back to my days of living in Carlsbad and commuting to La Jolla on the Coaster. Such a great route.
It's one of a kind!
As a 20 year Coaster commuter, I really appreciate these videos. Also, you have a good narrators voice, and I like most of all your videos with narration.
Thanks so much. Glad you have enjoyed the series thus far. Really appreciate it!
Can we apreciarte the work that this guy does to keep us informed and entertained about trains?
Many thanks! I'm very grateful that people enjoy what I do.
😊P😊
Who would have thought that California had such beautiful rolling steel out there. Can NOT get enough trains.
They are pretty neat!
It´s a rainy evening here in Germany. Thanks for showing us a bit of sunny California and of course the trains. Great Video again!
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video. Friday was great on this days. 🙂
Many thanks!
Hi mike, all your vids are awesome, railfanning in California is awesome and its a great place
Thanks so much! Yes, it's a pretty neat place to see trains!
You're welcome and I visited California and metrolink and coaster were awesome to see
CoasterFan2105 whoever made these trains has major metal making skills, I have high respect for people like that
Another location on my bucket list. Solana Beach.
Excellent.
Great video as always Mike!! The views of the Surfline are some of my favorites anywhere in the country and it's on my bucket list to railfan there!!
Thank you, Sam!
It haves me a flash back of the Southern California coastline.
Loved the video of Coaster full train in the new livery without any odd livery or add whap
Keep these videos coming Mick as I will never get back to America.
More on the way! Thanks for watching!
I railfan cbv and I will never get old
Awesome job, I want to railfan the surfline someday
I miss the old Surfline prior to 2019-2021.
Nice train coverage

Thanks!
Fantastic video
Thanks, Evan!
@@CoasterFan2105 No problem
Your videos from the surfline never continue to amaze me Mike! As I usually say I MISS the surfline how it used to be prior to 2018! Again another GREAT video by you man! Woohoo! :)
Thanks so much, Dean! I'm glad I was able to document as much of the Surf Line as it was. One of my goals with this mini series was to create a time capsule of things as they once were on the Surf Line. I think (and hope) it does a decent job of that.
Nice video Mike. I sure do miss the days when the F59s, Genesis, F40PH converted into NPCU’s, and F40PHM-2C’s ran on the Surfline. The Pacific Surfliner F59s have been sold to Metra, Metrolink’s F59PHI’s and most of their PH units have been stored expect for 852, 856, 868, and 873 as of rn. All of the Coaster F40s have been retired with 2103 and 2105 being sent to museums, and the Coaster F59s days are numbered as of the making of this comment on June 30th, 2023. And the F40PH converted into NPCU’s are no longer running on the Surfline since the Pacific Surfliner stopped using single level sets in 2020. 90208 was withdrawn after an accident with a forklift on August 15th, 2019, and 90278 has been transferred to work on the Amtrak San Joaquins from Bakersfield to Sacramento and Oakland. I know 90200, 90229, and 90230 used to work on the Surfline but 90230 has been sent back to work on the Amtrak Cascades, 90229 has been working the Amtrak Cascades recently last time I checked, and 90200 is currently working on Amtrak Midwest. The last time the Surfline used the Genesis locomotives between Los Angeles and San Diego was in 2020 I believe. I heard that a Surfliner train did use a Genesis in 2022 according to a railfan on a community post on YT but only north of Los Angeles and not South. I know that the SWC uses them between Los Angeles and Fullerton and then continue to Chicago, but I am only counting the Pacific Surfliner from Los Angeles to Fullerton, and from there to San Diego. Great job Mike.
Many thanks! Yeah, there have been a great number of changes over the last half decade. It's amazing how quickly things changed.

Great video - like
How much longer is the San Juan Capistrano-Oceanside stretch closed off for? The corridor between SAN-SLO looks like a ghost town between the crash in MPK and the closure.
That I don't know. My guess is at least another few weeks.
Nice video mike!
Thank you!
Why they sometimes drive the train backwards?
Ex: 18:30
All the trains on this line use Cab Control Cars. They allow the train crew to operate the train from the last car rather than the locomotive. For a more in depth explanation, check out the very first episode of my Train Talk video series.
@@CoasterFan2105 thanks bro I'll see it :)
I have been watching your videos for five years and they are always super good
Nice
Thanks!

Will they construct and work on building some more double tracks on the south of the Surfline?
Pls continue toy trains galore
15:32 Easily one of your best shots Mike, can't wait for Part 5!
Thank you! Part 5 is going to be a great finale for the series!
I live in Germany now, and am kinda spoiled by the wide availability of German railroads (old Chicagoan as I am!)...but one problem appears to be common to both rail systems: the "melting" of steel wheels, resulting in the rapid-fire bumping of wheels on rails; and here as there I get to worrying about ultimate rail safety. Great vid Carlsbad is a great place to see fast Amtrak Surfliners and when is trains at bob hope airport train station coming
Thank you! No updates on a Bob Hope Airport video yet.

Where would you go to spot coaster f59phi’s
Hey Mike I heard your favorite locomotive 2105 got coupled up to one of the Southern California railway museums locomotives and is going to go to the museum soon - are you going to make a video of 2103 going to the pacific southwest railway museum and 2105 going to the Southern California railway museum?
AWESOME SONDTRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! I will pass the message along!
10:44 What Coaster Train Is That
That is Coaster train 662 meeting train 657.
😮🙂❤️
How fast do trains go going north and south thru Encinitas?
I think the curve has a speed restriction of 80 MPH but the limits on the straight sections to the north and south for a long time were 90.
I love you💖 Mike
