I remember being completely shocked when I watched it for the first time, I was not expecting something like that from Komari at all. That entire scene, and the way they brought in the ED early, was a great way to end the episode.
Even the original author commented, "Why?" about the number of ribbons on the uniform, lol. It's probably just the personal taste of the character designer, Imigimuru. The characters he designs, like those in Lycoris Recoil, are incredibly charming.
Random fun fact: During the first episodes, where Komari shows to Nukumizu the ranking for the light novel she was writting on the internet, her novel in ranking was above some other light novels with some pretty interesting titles: "Forty-six" (genre: robots) "Motakoi: Love is DIFFICULT for otaku" (genre: Comedy) "Mikado-sama: Love is warned" (Genre: romance)
Komari is the best character of this show, I don't really like her character trope but the way the writer had done her development is so good, she's easily the bravest losing heroine out of the main three despite her introverted self.

Komari, the most introverted character of this show, the girl who stutters trying to talk to people shot her shot and that's why I say she's the bravest, not because she's not a childhood friend, but because she spoke out her feelings despite being heavily introverted, Anna and Lemon are extroverts, and have no issue interacting with people.
Really enjoying watching this one with y'all - when I watched it last year I didn't really know what to expect but it is a GEM. It's so pretty, and so funny, and so REAL, like on an emotional level, all at the same time, and it's fun to see you two connecting with it so genuinely. 😁
Let me answer why those titles are so long and are basically synopsys: In Japan, webnovels are really popular not only with readers but also writers. Yearly people create tousands of stories and so, if you want to catch attention of potential reader, you have to sell your book by your title alone. That created trend where people are just saying what the novel is about in just title. If you look for something to read and through tens of tousands of amateur web-stories you see "Black circle" or "I got hit by a truck and now I destroy demon king with my dance skills" you probably click on the latter.
I think I should just add this here just in case but in japan web novel industry are literally flooded with almost hundred of new read every single day. So much that readers would be overwhelmed with what to read. So that's when the community decide to compact the synopsis into their web novel title which makes it easier for readers to know from a glance what they're going into reading. Web novel that has consistent update and high amount of views from readers sometimes get scout by publishing company and get serialized as light novel and if the sales is doing good. Publishing company will put it for manga adaptation or even better when both is doing well they get an anime adaptation. one the perfect example of this is Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken or you know it better as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Usualy by at this point the author or the readers community of the book will come up with abbreviated anagram for their previous long title which in slime case, it's Tensura which was shorten with the word TENsei SURAimu from the original title. Tensura also means slime reincarnation in english. Just like that, this anime is also an adaptation based on a light novel therefore have its own abbreviated anagram or short title should we say. Too Many Losing Heroines or the japanese title, Make Heroine ga Oosugiru! was shorten into Makeine which was shorten with the word MAKE heroINE from the original title. Unlike Tensura, Makeine is a play on the word that sounds almost exactlt the same which is makeinu and makeinu means loser in japan. They totally making joke wtith this one to just mocked all the heroines. So yeah, it's totally understandable why japanese show title nowadays is so long. It's not like the authors really wants to make their title long on purpose but the industry they're in is so competitive that the easiest way to get the interest out of poeple to reads their books is by using synopsis title. I absolutely adore Komari-chan! Just the sound of her voice, the way she speaks with her cute little stuttering, never fails to put a smile on my face. The VA did an incredible job bringing her to life. The 4 ribbons on the girls uniform cracks me up. It's just a completely meaningless and unnecessary detail but it somehow fits the humor of the show perfectly.

Yes... Komari is the Best girl!! Every other girl get homewrecked because they didn't confess to their love interest, but Komari is so brave that she do it in front of everyone
two things i love about this anime: it's the only one in which the sister is actually the best girl; and how the characters act like real people and TALK about stuff, sometimes i think they're even more mature than 15 year olds would be

Perhaps she’s bored with sitting around. “Isn’t there an event over that side of the beach? Let’s check it out.” “…I think there are stalls.” Yanami chewed on her post-lunch fried corn and mumbled. Of course, Yanami stood up too. She just finished eating. What an energetic girl. I unintentionally raised my head. Yanami’s stomach appeared in front of me. “Ah, wait, Yanami-san. Your jacket.” Yanami looked at the jacket I handed to her. She bulged her eyes in disbelief. “Jacket? I should be fine with sunscreen, right?” “No, I mean…your stomach…” I looked away after saying that too. 2 servings of yakisoba + fried corn = chubby stomach. Yanami robbed the jacket from my hands and just threw it straight to my face. “I-I have my own jacket! That’s why I don’t like this part of yours, Nukumizu-kun!” She got on her jacket and quickly left. The fried corn is still in her hand
My favorite is Lemon and she will always be the best for me, but the only one who has real courage in this series is Komari. Even though she is a losing heroine, she is the winner.
Prez, you should be confused about her tan lines, just not for the reasons you are thinking. Yes, she is a runner, so her tan lines should reflect that. So here is my question. Why are her feet tan? Logic dictates that if she's wearing her running clothes, shouldn't she be wearing running shoes? I know none of this is important, but it just caught my eye the first time I watched this, and now i can't unsee it 😅.
