A donation of $20 can help provide one person clean drinking water for 20 years. Because such a small amount of money can create such a big impact, anyone can make a real difference.*
GivePower is a global foundation that provides solar energy technology to deliver clean water, food and light to those who need it most.
GivePower has brought clean, renewable energy to over 2,500 schools in 17 countries and impacted the lives of more than 300,000 people.
Now, as the water crisis continues to grow exponentially across the world, GivePower’s latest innovation is a breakthrough blueprint solution. With advanced filtration systems and new desalination technology, GivePower has begun deploying solar microgrid water farms in regions of Africa with the most urgent need. One of our solar powered desalination systems produces enough clean healthy for up to 35,000 people every single day.
Compared to most traditional water wells, one GivePower solar water farm produces a higher quality of water over a longer period of time - powered by renewable energy, and delivered in an economically sustainable, and affordable, manner.

*This statement should not be construed as a promise or guarantee about the amount of clean water produced per person or the duration of production. The statement is a good faith estimate based on the system’s potential capacity to make 20,000 gallons per day of water and 0.5 gallons of water per person per day for basic drinking water excluding all other activities. GivePower makes no such promises or guarantee as to the outcome of the system or its duration. Your donation is considered a gift to GivePower may be used by GivePower for any of its charitable purposes.

You're drinking fluoride (crystalizes in the brain) and chlorine and maybe ammonia and lead and PFOA and bleach. Please buy a Brita filter to protect yourself. A long last filter is best quality. Water in plastic jugs leech microplastics. A filter is a very valuable investment.

We can do both and you wouldn't have the solar pannels or computers to make this system work if the US didn't have a space program. The question I have is who's provide tech support to keep the sytem running? The villagers aren't going to have anyone who knows how to fix it went it breaks and they can't run down to the local electronics store for spare parts. JFK did similar projects back in Africa in the 60's but since the villagers couldn't get or afford replacement parts for the pumps they eventually broke down. This system is way more complicated than a simple wind powered pump so unless they provide some sort of on going tech support for their system this too will fail. Africa is a very resource rich continent so they have the resources and money to figure this out. Orgs like this that come in and save the day is only a bandaid.

I do not agree with this tactic. Because what happens when the shit breaks down? Instead of dumping millions of dollars into this crap, spend the money into educating them on how to properly sanitize water and build their own stuff. Charity like this is the reason why they will continue to live like it’s 1000 ad. Education and structure is what they need, not charity. Teach a man to fish....

things take time, this is merely step 1, your comment makes the assumption that it stops there, but the stage has to be set ,for them to learn and retain what theyre being taught a less hostile environment goes a long way, its easier to learn when you arent fighting for survival.
people need to take a step back and just appreciate that its a process.

I respectfully disagree. imagine you live in a bad neighborhood. you walk out your front door. You are shot. You get to the hospital. the doctor says, you are in luck! our class on wound dressing is starting soon. i'll see if we have room for you.
There are people in the world that were left behind. there is time for education and a time for intervention. They are both important.

Salty water can really hurt your skin after a long time, the clean water is probably healing to the burning dry feeling and good for washing away the salt that may have built up. I think.
