Grew up watching and listening to Roy Clark and Buck Owens. They contacted my father, requesting him to play , as a hired guitar, when they came to Maryland. Dad, the rock that held our family together, died 3 days after his June 21'st birthday in 2015. I'll never get over the loss of the man I looked up to so much and who loved me and my late sister, Ginger.
You haven't seen him do anything yet. He's not just a wizard on the 6 strings. He's a wizard on anything with strings, including a fiddle. That's all folks!
He was a very happy man. I had the great fortune to meet my "cousin" Roy, and he was so personable and charming that he was amusing sitting across the table from him.
Check out his version of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues or Check out him and Johnny Cash doing The Orange Blossom Special. You wouldn't be disappointed. Great reaction
I smiled the whole time watching your reaction to Roy Clark. What a amazing thing to see, someone so young, appreciating a master. Love, love, love your channel! Bless your heart!
He’s feeling it. My dad is a great player and singer! He can’t read music but can listen to a song and pick it up in no time. It was so amazing to grow up with this joy of music
If it's a stringed instrument Roy Clark can play it and he will be one of the best to ever play it. I love watching the old footage of Roy performing live on TV. Those old TV cameras may have been top of the line back then but their frame rates still couldn't keep up with Roy's picking hand. His hand would be just a blur like an old cartoon character windmilling their legs to run.
Roy Clark is one of the best, if not the BEST guitar player of all time. Check out Roy Clark on an episode of The Odd Couple tv series. You will be totally amazed !
His eyes are not only closed, but also sometimes crossed. His facial goofyness is part of his act. BTW, the song is 12th Street Rag. His version of Alabama Jubilee is one of my favorites th-cam.com/video/k59g3pX-C_s/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1
That was the Johnny Cash show back in the late 60's. About the time June Carter, ( Johnny's wife) was pregnant with their first child together......a BOY.
You know, when you have a clip of someone as insanely talented as Roy Clark..make your comments before or after! Never, never, NEVER interrupt or pause. Thank you.
Also check out Buck Trent, Lester Flatt, and Earl Scruggs... All banjo players. Roy Clark could hold his own with them as well. Interesting side note: my wife is related to Roy Clark.
He was fantastic on the guitar…..but if you haven’t heard him play the violin, he turns it into a fiddle…..check out Roy Clark playing Orange Blossom Special! Even my country western HATING son loves it! No one outdo’s Roy!!! I miss him,!!
Just found your channel and I subscribed. I grew up watching Roy Clark on the HeHaaaw TV show. Which I strongly suggest you watch a few shows. You'll get a kick out of Grandpa Jones on the show he's another great banjo player. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Back in the day, Nudie Cohn was world renowned for his glittering designs in western wear. In country music, you’d made it when you took the stage in a Nudie suit.
I've never seen a better guitar player...love watching the reaction.. Not that it matters, I am just curious, why you have a jar of mayonnaise sitting behind you....well that's what it looks like..
Roy could put strings on a dog......and not only could he play it, whatever he played would still sound better than 90% of people playing on a guitar. Roy could play anything with strings on it, and better than most anyone. He learned on a 2 string banjo as a kid, and when he could keep up with his adult neighbor his dad figured it was time to get him a proper banjo.
Roy just might be the best guitar and Bangor player of all time!!✌️🇺🇲
