Hope everyone is safe and well. As I feared some weeks ago, a certain something (TH-cam doesn't like the term being said) is sweeping the globe and causing unprecedented situations to happen. Take care of yourself, try and social distance as much as possible and practice proper hygiene. I will be still making videos, and I've found that designing things or being creative lifts the gloom and worry of the situation. Hang in there people 💪
I bet that’s especially true for clients of designers. Luckily for me the first designer I hired made me 100 different logos to choose from for my Corp branding. I was confused I fired them and the next designer did something extremely simple and I loved it but I would have never been happy with that logo if not for the first designer.
Great teaching style. It's often easy to forget what i've learned in videos like these but thanks to the question part in the end I feel like i could grasp the key points more efficiently. Thank you !
The interest thing on your videos is that besides the main subject there is so much more to learn every second just turning off the sound and watch the graphical animations themselves. There is a lot of motion, composition, graphics, color and typographic combinations, to play attention about.
Thank you Satori. I am spending atleast an hour everyday watching your videos and leaning from it. You inspire me to work on designs with a different approach. Count me as one of your students. looking forward to learn more from you.
In a world where everyone seems to talk at 1.5 x their normal speed (stress?), it is nice to have a calm voice... really helps when listening to explanations. Enjoyed the quiz too! Thanks.
Thank you so much for these. They help a lot. The quizzes at the end are especially great, they help with information retention. I struggle to remember half the stuff I learned at design school so they help me pay special attention so I can remember for the quizzes in the end. Also, gathering information is small bits helps a lot with retention for me. Thanks a many bunchles.
Thank you so much for this one. it also helps remind me of these principles, because honestly I tend to forget these when I'm designing a logo. I will always heed this advice from now on. thank you.
I really apperciate the fact that most if not all of your videos are actual valuable videos that are in-depth and informative, not just videos for the sake of making videos So big Thanks. Also If you make like a walkthrough a full process of designing a logo for a real client or even an imagenry projects that would be more than awesome.
thanks tom,I love this,I tired making logos back in 2020 but I only found out about you recently, Im going to redo my logo and business ,Thanks for the tips
Complete Novice here . . . love your vids, they are very helpful! One "Pro Tip" when creating vids with emphasis on logo simplicity, don't wear a shirt with a confusing logo, ha ha. Couldn't resist. Critique that logo. It hurts my eyes. Seriously, greatly appreciate your taking the time to express your design ideas and share your knowledge.
Hey Satori, Keep up the great effort and work in your videos! :) Maybe as an Idea for a future video: Could you describe the method/programms you are using for the animations in the videos? Maybe a behind the scenes video of making a Satori Graphics video. Would be very interesting i think! :)
I hire a motion graphics designer for these animations, I actually have no experience with motion graphics. I do design the graphics with the typography layout and stuff, but I then send them to someone I know to be animated
Awesome.. The relevance is the most important point..which i learnt today from this video... I answered all questions correctly except for the poor legibility of Olympics logo.. I missed out that detail when i was watching the video..
I absolutely love your designs and your work in general an I my self love designing, but I can't understand why "logos" should be so simple and to send a messege that the customer can notice very easly. All the top brands and companies nowadays have a really unique logos that have hidden messeges in them. They are not as obvious as the once in the today's "simple" logo standarts. If you have a company which's name is "I Give Plant" for example, the youtube designers that I see would say " lets put a hand with a plant in it and make it simple" and then they will just make a hand with a plant with simple shapes. The meaning is so obvious and in my opinion that makes the logo boring easy to forget. The top companies' logos nowdays have very unique and special design and meaning. I think that is why they are "top companies". The logos that I see people make are juat so simple, with so obvious message therefore they are boring and you forget them. Of course there are exceptions like the Amazon logo (for example). It is a online shop. The today's designers I see on the internet would make the logo something like a simplified shoping cart and a river under it and that's it. But the fact that the actual Amazon logo is different and it's not like any other's shopping site logo, makes Amazon's logo so unique and great. That is just of course my opinion. Sorry if I have grammar mistakes English is my second language😅 I just wanted to share my opinion on this topic. Have a great day! :)
Question: what do you do when the client is asking for something that breaks one of these principles? I had a client once that was a hairstylist and she wanted the name of her business encircling her initials. I told her if you scale that down small, it will be hard to read the business name. Seems like so many clients already have in mind what they want; so, do you try to work up a few designs playing off their ideas, or do you just ignore their ideas and show them your own ideas? I never know how to handle that properly.
Personally I will try and make them see why their idea doesn't work, by showing them a quick example side by side, and explaining that I've had years of experience with this industry. If they are still dead set on their idea then I design it for them
It has been Such a nice and useful contents that you are sharing with us since I knew you channel but may I ask a favor of you is that could you try to speak in a slow pace and give us more examples just for the sake of beginners getting more I deas about the content and the material. thousands thanks and love to your efforts.❤
Hey, I have a question. I've watched so many of your videos and really taken a lot of it to heart. I've tried to explain this to my client (a publisher) but they insist they want a fish for a logo (their name doesn't tie back to fish) I've tried advise why this might not be a great choice using all of the above points. How would you go about if the client absolutely will not give up on something that might harm their branding?
If you've already tried to explain your professional point of view, by using technical ability and logic, and yet they still do not see why as a designer you know best, you're probably better off just giving them what they want.
Hello, you're still available? I also think you should create what a customer and also create what you believe to be the better option and sending the two to the customer, you might change his or her mind, I think.
If you have to convince, first you have to come up with all the possible use cases and how your created logo is more usable than the existing one - u can do all these only if the client has not approved some design.
Nice touch with the quiz at the end for retention. I’d argue that this video could have been edited down to half its length to be more concise. But overall, good content.
