A lot of people like to think that Keith would be the first one to realize that this Shiro is a clone, but what if he was the LAST one to accept it? Like Keith has nearly lost Shiro plenty of times now, and it's implied in the BOM episode that Keith is constantly afraid of Shiro leaving him. Imagine everyone else on the team slowly coming to the realization that this Shiro isn't the right one, but Keith stubbornly refusing to accept the truth because he doesn't want to face the reality that Shiro is still gone.

I agree with Ms. Maven. I think you also see this when he figured out his Galra heritage. He noticed a lot of things but he needed someone to tell him directly that he was part Galra. So I think it would be the same with finding out about Shiro but with another kind of emotional baggage he has to work through in order to accept it.

The Blue Lion rejected Lance by placing a particle barrier up. It kept him out because he was not needed in Blue, but Red. However, the Black Lion didn't place a barrier up for anyone, but didn't activate as non of the Paladins were the right person. Now, if Kuron was Shiro, yet the Black Lion had now accepted Keith as the Black Paladin it would've placed a barrier up, but it didn't, and instead didn't activate. The Lion treated Kuron as a *new person*. It knew that Kuron is not Shiro.
But the Lions put up the particle barriers when they first encountered them -- when it was treating them as new people. The Lions would protect themselves from hostiles. It'd honestly be more convincing to me if it had put up a particle barrier for Shiro, indicating it REALLY doesn't want him back. However, it let him try.
But the Black Lion didn't care if they hung out in him all day (no impending combat at the time). The lions don't (normally) put barriers up in the castle, because they know everyone is part of the "pride." Blue, on the other hand, knew the lions were going into combat, and the more Lance sat around in the cockpit, the longer it would take for Allura to get into the cockpit. Best way to get him moving to Red is not to let Lance in in the first place.
I love shiro and all but I feel kinda sorry for kuron :( he's not evil or anything. He was just born and as far as he knows, he IS shiro. It's gonna be jolting when he learns the truth. Kuron's sole purpose of existence is to be a weapon. His memories are fake. I want to give him a hug. I want shiro back and all but I'm nowSo interested to see what Kuron's reaction will be to learning the truth and how it will change him

I think that the Shiro with Matt in the spoiler is the real Shiro,since he's wearing the Black paladin armor,which disappeared along with the real Shiro,unless there was a spare one at the castle...but I hope that's not the case. I just REALLY WANT MY TRUE SON BACK IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK??
I actually have the theory that ''long haired'' Shiro is the real Shiro and the season 1 Shiro we all know and love is the clone. (In my head that explains the long hair.) Cause the whole LH Shiro on the snow planet is almost an exact scene from Voltron Force where we find out that Sven (That series Shiro) is actually alive after being assumed dead for awhile. So I interpreted that scene as the real Shiro being alive and coming back to the team. I don't know but as someone who watched all three series of Voltron that scene stood out to me in season 3.

But I don't agree with this theory. - first, because it will be WAY too sad and cruel from dreamworks (really, it's a show for kids! don't break our heart like that!). - the shiro we know remembers stuff from earth. He knows Pidge's real name, and when they were connecting to create voltron, he was thinking of his school. - the galra looked for the first shiro after his escape. They let Kuron run away. - They call Kuron "project Kuron". I think that's enough. Why say that to the real shiro? It's meningless. - his bond with the black lion is really strong, the strongest of all the paladins. I don't think black would have link this much with a replica. - again, the way shiro escaped. The galra didn't planned that. And he was helped by the hand of gomora, why would they save a clone? - Some theories are saying that Shiro had a contact with the quintessence, I think it's real. Maybe when they saw his potential in the arena (really, he must have been very impressive for a human), they made him react to the quintessence and he survived and didn't have the side effect Zarkon and his wife have. And maybe that's one of the reason his link with black is so strong. Maybe that's also the reason why they cloned him and wanted to use him as a weapon, because he's special. And last reason: Shiro wasn't used as an experimentation for a year. He was the champion for a long time, he could have cut his hair during that time. While Kuron was sleeping for more than a year (between before the beginning of season 1 and season 3). I hope your theories are true. And like the others, I hope the real Shiro is with Matt. Jayson Bossuet Way better despite is sad amount of screen time. Zarkon is beyond generic. Lotor seems to have a lot more charm and cunning, with his gang actually having unique designs so I can almost remember them (even if we haven't really gotten any episodes with focus on them).
Inklink agreed Zarkon was good at being evil/menacing but he lacked personality Lotor looks like he actually has hobbies besides taking over the universe makes him more human
I know a lot of people want Kuron to betray the Team or want him to just kill himself or for he paladins to kill him or just literally hating on him. But, you gotta look at it from his perspective. He truly believes he's Takashi Shirogane, he has fake memories and connections to the Keith, Pidge, Lance, Hunk, Allura, and Coran. Don't get me wrong I want Space Dad back too, but I don't want anything to happen to kuron, he's deserves his own life and maybe become a leader of a rebellion.
I really think he's a clone,Here's why: In season 3, Shiro escaped a Galra ship and that’s how team Voltron found him,But when he was escaping two things caught my eye and I knew this wasn’t the Real Shiro. 1: The Galra didn’t call him Prisoner nor called him Champion. 2:They called him ‘project:Kuron’ If you translate ‘Kuron’ it means Clone in Japanese. Also,more things showed me he wasn’t a clone when he got back to the Castle. 1:He touched Keith (and several other people) with his cybernetic arm.Shiro never touches anyone with that arm unless he has too (Like when he was comforting Pidge). 2:His eyeliner and undercut. Also he didn't say he wanted to get back home, or to the castle, or to the paladins, or to his friends. Like a mantra, he was repeating that he needed to get to voltron. Why does nobody mention this???? Also you could have pointed out the unusual way he acts with Keith, such as undermining his leadership constantly. Surely shiro, who told Keith ages ago that he wanted him to lead voltron (even when a lot of the fandom thought that idea was super dumb) would at least see how Keith does. I 100% agree. There were multiple times that, in season 4, the shiro was making decisions that didn’t seem normal. Many were putting the team in danger. And there were many times Keith’s decisions made sense but we’re shut down because shiro is seen as the most experienced and wise. I honestly think the shiro they have is NOT the real shiro
Honestly I think the reason homeboy has a robot arm is because he got it chopped off during the arena and Haggar was like "ayy lmao" and took the opportunity when she had it cuz he caught attention him being "the champion" or whatever and he happened to have high quintessence or whatever. That's just my minimalistic take. If they wanted DNA then they can just get hair or blood/saliva/whatever. I don't think they need a whole body part. But that's just me
I think that Kuron was actually the original Shiro, and the Shiro we've known was the clone. But now, the original Shiro (long haired) is a sleeper agent. They injected the clone's memories into him, so he thinks he's the Black Paladin.
You know, I've seen a lot of theories about this on Tumblr. But I want Kuron to be a good clone, like Dani from Danny Phantom and become the Ryou Shirogane in the series.
This would support the theory a bit more, the situation for Shiro is similar to Roy Harper in Young Justice. If you haven't seen it not my fault it's been out for years. But like Shiro, Roy was kidnapped by the villains and his right arm was cut off for genetic material for cloning. The clone then took his place and hints were given to Green Arrow as to his location, but didn't question how he was able to find him just happy about being reunited. Clone Roy's programming was to get into the Justice League as a set up, a bit similar to Shiro wanting to return to team Voltron. The two situations parallel each other a bit.
What if he got the long hair from being aged very quickly? What if they had to start at a certain point of time in his life and increase his age through artificial means? This could explain his long hair.
To add to your theory you said that hair grows only half an inch a month, and for that Shiro's hair to be that long, it would have to have been growing for a year and a half. Shiro was missing for a year,and the paladins have been in space for months. They probably started cloning Shiro early on. (that's all I have)
You didn't mention a lot of the dialogue that goes on between Keith and Kuron, while Kuron is in the room with Keith, Keith looks upset and like somethings not right. He also says "they [the gang] need you" not even mentioning himself or other wise saying "I need you" because all we know about Keith and Shiro's relationship. There's also when Keith is about to tell the team what they're going to do and what needs done, Kuron steps on Keiths ties basically and over powers Keith, a thing we know Shiro wouldn't do if Keith has legitimately became fhe leader in his place.
I agree with this! When I first saw Kuron I was skeptical about it being the actual Shiro, but what happened in the episode with him being so desperate to get back to the other paladins, and all the memories, made me believe that he is, but I was super uncomfortable with the hair change. All of the evidence that you've brought up is really bringing me back to believing that Kuron isn't Shiro and that Shiro is still out there, somewhere that the Black Lion is unable to teleport him back from. Ok when I first saw the journey episode I had this huge feeling of wrongness. Like you know that gut feeling that something is not right? I got that feeling. During the rest of the season I kept feeling like something was up, then I rewatched the episode after seeing multiple videos that say the season 3 Shiro is a clone. I originally thought that the "new" Shiro (Kuron) was some sort of sleeper agent. Evidence piled up not just from "The Journey", but from episodes past that. Kuron's attitude was different from what I remembered (and what I saw when I went back to re-watch the first couple seasons), and his "bond" with Black seems non-existent when he used to be the pilot who had the greatest bond with his lion. The clone theory does make sense; it could be a combination (clone and sleeper agent) as well. The Galra had plenty of time to do experiments if they had his DNA, not to mention the druid's control over quintessence. There's also the color of that liquid; it's the same color of the "corrupted" quintessence the druids were making, as well as the color of the vials the Beta Traz prison guard used to beef himself up (and I believe some of what's sustaining Zarkon right now). At this point in the story, quintessence has been mentioned and used a few times, but there's not a lot of deep understanding about it. We got a story of what happened to the original Paladins, but not much on quintessence (aside from the writers saying it's supposed to be similar to the Force; I always compared it to the Lifestream from FF7). Clues have been dropped, but the reason we don't know much about it is probably done on purpose. Though, they might as well tell us since pretty much everyone is 99.9% certain that this new Shiro (Kuron) is a different person. I was trying to figure out what the purpose of this would be; during the first couple seasons, it would have made sense if Zarkon ordered this to be done (planning to recapture Shiro and replace him with a clone) in order to fly the Black Lion straight into his hands. At this point, I was having trouble figuring out the "why"...until Keith went full emo (sorry, I don't like him and I don't accept how, pardon the pun, alienated he became from the team to the point of putting them in mortal danger had Black not decided to let Kuron leave the hangar...and it was probably a difficult decision made only because Black has sentience and knew the other lions and pilots were in danger...and Kuron was similar enough to Shiro to be the pilot. Evidence of that is how long Black took to wake up). Once Kuron was the pilot of Black, I started to wonder if it's some way to ensure that Voltron can easily be dismantled. If the clone defects (or a sleeper agent situation kicks in), they can make Voltron turn back into five lions from the inside.
It's going to be like Red Arrow from Young Justice, he'll fight some gaulra general, then they say a code word to freeze him and he'll tell them what's Voltron planning, and Kuron wouldn't even know it. Joking aside, because Shiro is my favorite character of the show, I think episode 5 is my favorite episode of season 3, but yah, he's probably a clone, but he still has the same personality and leadership wisdom, I liked the first talk he has with Keith in episode 6, so I won't totally accept this guy, but I'm not going to scream #NOTMYSHIRO or anything, I want the real Shiro back, wherever the hell he is. I've been thinking of that Evangelion thing you mentioned in your theory video, I'd buy it, but if that's the case, Shiro must be seeing some really weird sh*t, if you saw what happened to Shinji in episode 20. I imagine Kuron is going to find out he's not the real Shiro, and sacrifice himself to save the real one, just making predictions.
Though my favorite joke involving the not my Shiro thing is, I saw a video where it shows Kuron, then it immediately shows a clip from Rooster Teeth's Camp Camp Season 2 episode 1, where the main character Max shouts "Who the f*ck is that!!!"
I think that shiro is a clone because the hair first thing I noticed was the shaved part wasn't all the way to the white and if you remember when they showed the episode of him escaping everyone tried to stop him and I think that that was just to implant a memory in the clone so he could tell the other paladins about it so he sounded realistic.I think there is hope for Shiro though because I feel like if keith and Shiro are brothers then that means shiro's part Galra which mean that keith might be able to psychically connect with Shiro's real body and wake him out of his sleep and track his location and save him. I also think that keith will somehow fall in love with lance in the same episode.
I loved the lion switch. It bought out different things from the characters, especially keith, lance, and alura. And the point is for us to really feel how sad they are about Shiro being gone.
But hey guys do you really think OUR Shiro was the clone one and this Kuron is the real Shiro because I am not so convinced yet. When Our Shiro escaped and the Galra people saw him they were like shocked and the other aliens were like "the Champion is back!" So in a way, the real Shiro must have disappeared from the hands of the Galra. I remembered Haggar saying "You could've been our strongest weapon!" or something so he really must've escaped. Our Shiro might really be the real Shiro and Kuron might really be the clone. And on a crazier note, maybe they're both clones and the real Shiro actually died that's why the Galra has been trying to clone him and Shiro might've been the best clone that's why they were so angry when he initially escaped.
In the beginning of The Journey when I first saw it, I called Kuron "Steve," only because he had long hair and I wasn't sure he was actually Shiro. I'm still calling him Steve because Steve starts with an S, like Shiro (obviously)and Sven
This makes so much sense. I was really annoyed during the journey because I couldn't figure out if it was a flashback or explain what happened to Shiro. I was wondering why they didn't just tell us what was going on. This is the perfect explanation!
I LOVED the lion switching! I grew up on the 80s Voltron so when I started the new one I was so confused. Nobody was in their right lions. It made so much sense when they did the switch, especially since their mismatched armor was FINALLY explained.

I feel like lance should’ve found out he was a clone first though, because Kuron kept on sorta being hard on lance And we see lance not taking it very well by isolating him self by the rest of the team ( E.G when he was playing video games in the episode where Allura and Coran wanted milk shakes, yes ik a lot of people stay in their rooms and play games but usually lance hangs out with someone so it’s not like him.) lance also says something around the lines of ‘I don’t think Shiro sees it’ when Alurra says something around the lines of ‘everyone in the team can see you have greatness with in’ or ‘ everyone can see your growth’ I have forgotten which one 🌝 but it shows lance probably feels distant to kuron, and lance said Shiro was his hero in the first episode so it shows his respect for Shiro so he most likely sees him more as a idol then a friend. So it would be so cute for him to find out then be the one to help him because it would show them growing as friends. But sure Keith can do it
My thoughts are that Kuron has a trigger word, that will make him know who, or in this case what he is. I also think that the trigger word will be Kuron.
Actually, from what I read in another interview article, and from what I understand from it, it sounds like the Lion Switch is sticking for the rest of the series and the first couple seasons were an elaborate explanation about why the armour doesn't match the lion colours.

I think that Clone Shiro has long hair because the Galra started creating the clone from the arm that they supposedly cut off when Shiro was a prisoner of the galra at the beginning of Season 1.
Idk, it seems the quintessence drove them mad, but it's also the thing that allowed them to live so long. I'd imagine both Haggar and Zarkon passed the point of no return.
@Cartoon Universe in golion/80s voltron, Shiro/Sven piloted BLUE lion, not Red. It's why the Princess took over the BLUE lion when Shiro/Sven died. but i loved LD Sven's joke about the Space Hospital, where golion killed characters were wrote off to in 80s Voltron.

I had a theory that possibly the last episode of season 3 where they talk about the story of Althor (Is that how u spell it?) and Zarcon might be foreshadowing what could happen between Kuron and Keith. because it says that Zarcon and Althor were very close like Shiro and Keith, but if 'Shiro' is actually Kuron he might start destroying the team from an emotional point of view. What do you think?
A think about it maybe Kuron is the reason that lotor was always one step ahead and maybe at first was tactics and but then lotor goes away for some time and studies through kuron who isnt exactly like shiro I can just tell he is off UHGG
You know, the thought occurs to me to me that Kuron's arm is WAY too scar-free to be Shiro's (personally, I always assumed that the reason Post-Gladiator Shiro always tended to wear long-sleeves clothing was because he had scars on his arms)
I think there is another possibility. What if the Shirogane that we know is the clone and the real Shiro has been with Matt the whole time? Remember, Shirogane didn't remember anything from his time as a captive of the Galra. Perhaps he's always been a clone and when he unlocked the black lion's true powers the Black Lion saw that and rejected him as a creation of the galra? Obviously this is a stretch and I hope i'm wrong. I would much rather it be that this Shiro that we see in season 3 is actually a clone and the real Shiro will return at some point later :)

Emma because the originals can never be replaced. And each one was building a bond with the lions and the fact that it's stripped right when they were developing into a deeper bond sucks. Allura is the one who has the best control with the castle anyways
I agree that the musical lions game was great for character development and exploration, but I hope it's a temporary thing. After finishing season 4 I went back and watched the latter bits of season 2, and the team cohesion is just a lot stronger. But it is great to see allura get her hands dirty, and the new dynamic keeps things fresh
-(Spoilers)- Also, in newer episodes, "Shiro" is trying to convince team Voltron to go along with Lotor's plan, and snaps when Lance tries to calm him down. He brings lotor to where he wanted to go by himself, not telling a word to the team, and when he is alone with Lance he tells him that "he doesn't feel like himself". There's definetly something along the lines of a clone, now the real question is wether that clone is this Shiro, or the one we've already come to know.

Padraic loingsigh i think there is no possible way to change back to another lion. Lance change so the blue Lion doesnt find him worthy anymore. Found Allura who from the start has developed a lot. If they plan to get shiro to be the black Lion again. I think either Lance or Keith will not be in voltron. Since we never saw how Red react to Keith now.
I know, right? I love the new lion placements. Keith gets to develop as a leader, Lance gets to fly red like he always wanted to, Keith and Lance get a lot of relationship development and Allura gets to be a paladin!
You can actually survive up to 10 days without water under optimal conditions but he would probably have a couple of blackout or something after 7 days and he would have needed to not sweat during any time in those 7 days.
I just finished watching all of VLD yesterday, and seeing Shiro's return just gave me so many bad vibes. I refuse to accept new Shiro as the one we've known the past two seasons, and I am absolutely behind this clone theory. It makes sense and honestly I hope that's what it is. There's no good reason I'll accept for the Black Lion to just suddenly reject him after such a strong bond, and he just feels so... fake when he returns lol. I just hope I get my real Shiro back soon ;-;

The Blue Lion rejected Lance by placing a particle barrier up. It kept him out because he was not needed in Blue, but Red. However, the Black Lion didn't place a barrier up for anyone, but didn't activate as non of the Paladins were the right person.
Now, if Kuron was Shiro, yet the Black Lion had now accepted Keith as the Black Paladin it would've placed a barrier up, but it didn't, and instead didn't activate.
The Lion treated Kuron as a *new person*.
It knew that Kuron is not Shiro.
But the Lions put up the particle barriers when they first encountered them -- when it was treating them as new people.
The Lions would protect themselves from hostiles. It'd honestly be more convincing to me if it had put up a particle barrier for Shiro, indicating it REALLY doesn't want him back. However, it let him try.
But the Black Lion didn't care if they hung out in him all day (no impending combat at the time). The lions don't (normally) put barriers up in the castle, because they know everyone is part of the "pride." Blue, on the other hand, knew the lions were going into combat, and the more Lance sat around in the cockpit, the longer it would take for Allura to get into the cockpit. Best way to get him moving to Red is not to let Lance in in the first place.
Who else only accepted this theory bc they saw this video or just knew that Kuron didn't have Shiro's expert eyeliner abilities.

I actually have the theory that ''long haired'' Shiro is the real Shiro and the season 1 Shiro we all know and love is the clone. (In my head that explains the long hair.) Cause the whole LH Shiro on the snow planet is almost an exact scene from Voltron Force where we find out that Sven (That series Shiro) is actually alive after being assumed dead for awhile. So I interpreted that scene as the real Shiro being alive and coming back to the team. I don't know but as someone who watched all three series of Voltron that scene stood out to me in season 3.

I see a lot of people who still think that Kuron is the true shiro and the shiro we all love is the clone. But I don't agree with this theory.
- first, because it will be WAY too sad and cruel from dreamworks (really, it's a show for kids! don't break our heart like that!).
- the shiro we know remembers stuff from earth. He knows Pidge's real name, and when they were connecting to create voltron, he was thinking of his school.
- the galra looked for the first shiro after his escape. They let Kuron run away.
- They call Kuron "project Kuron". I think that's enough. Why say that to the real shiro? It's meningless.
- his bond with the black lion is really strong, the strongest of all the paladins. I don't think black would have link this much with a replica.
- again, the way shiro escaped. The galra didn't planned that. And he was helped by the hand of gomora, why would they save a clone?
- Some theories are saying that Shiro had a contact with the quintessence, I think it's real. Maybe when they saw his potential in the arena (really, he must have been very impressive for a human), they made him react to the quintessence and he survived and didn't have the side effect Zarkon and his wife have. And maybe that's one of the reason his link with black is so strong. Maybe that's also the reason why they cloned him and wanted to use him as a weapon, because he's special.
And last reason: Shiro wasn't used as an experimentation for a year. He was the champion for a long time, he could have cut his hair during that time. While Kuron was sleeping for more than a year (between before the beginning of season 1 and season 3).
I hope your theories are true. And like the others, I hope the real Shiro is with Matt. But poor Kuron, he got all the hate while I'm sure he has no idea he is a clone... Man, can't wait for season 4!!! bring back space daddy!!

Jayson Bossuet Way better despite is sad amount of screen time. Zarkon is beyond generic. Lotor seems to have a lot more charm and cunning, with his gang actually having unique designs so I can almost remember them (even if we haven't really gotten any episodes with focus on them).

He truly believes he's Takashi Shirogane, he has fake memories and connections to the Keith, Pidge, Lance, Hunk, Allura, and Coran.
Don't get me wrong I want Space Dad back too, but I don't want anything to happen to kuron, he's deserves his own life and maybe become a leader of a rebellion.

I really think he's a clone,Here's why:
In season 3, Shiro escaped a Galra ship and that’s how team Voltron found him,But when he was escaping two things caught my eye and I knew this wasn’t the Real Shiro.
1: The Galra didn’t call him Prisoner nor called him Champion.
2:They called him ‘project:Kuron’ If you translate ‘Kuron’ it means Clone in Japanese.
Also,more things showed me he wasn’t a clone when he got back to the Castle.
1:He touched Keith (and several other people) with his cybernetic arm.Shiro never touches anyone with that arm unless he has too (Like when he was comforting Pidge).

I 100% agree. There were multiple times that, in season 4, the shiro was making decisions that didn’t seem normal. Many were putting the team in danger. And there were many times Keith’s decisions made sense but we’re shut down because shiro is seen as the most experienced and wise. I honestly think the shiro they have is NOT the real shiro

Honestly I think the reason homeboy has a robot arm is because he got it chopped off during the arena and Haggar was like "ayy lmao" and took the opportunity when she had it cuz he caught attention him being "the champion" or whatever and he happened to have high quintessence or whatever. I think that Kuron was actually the original Shiro, and the Shiro we've known was the clone. But now, the original Shiro (long haired) is a sleeper agent. They injected the clone's memories into him, so he thinks he's the Black Paladin.
You know, I've seen a lot of theories about this on Tumblr. But I want Kuron to be a good clone, like Dani from Danny Phantom and become the Ryou Shirogane in the series.
This would support the theory a bit more, the situation for Shiro is similar to Roy Harper in Young Justice. If you haven't seen it not my fault it's been out for years. But like Shiro, Roy was kidnapped by the villains and his right arm was cut off for genetic material for cloning. The clone then took his place and hints were given to Green Arrow as to his location, but didn't question how he was able to find him just happy about being reunited. Clone Roy's programming was to get into the Justice League as a set up, a bit similar to Shiro wanting to return to team Voltron. The two situations parallel each other a bit.
What if he got the long hair from being aged very quickly? What if they had to start at a certain point of time in his life and increase his age through artificial means? This could explain his long hair.
To add to your theory you said that hair grows only half an inch a month, and for that Shiro's hair to be that long, it would have to have been growing for a year and a half. Shiro was missing for a year,and the paladins have been in space for months. They probably started cloning Shiro early on. (that's all I have)
You didn't mention a lot of the dialogue that goes on between Keith and Kuron, while Kuron is in the room with Keith, Keith looks upset and like somethings not right. He also says "they [the gang] need you" not even mentioning himself or other wise saying "I need you" because all we know about Keith and Shiro's relationship. There's also when Keith is about to tell the team what they're going to do and what needs done, Kuron steps on Keiths ties basically and over powers Keith, a thing we know Shiro wouldn't do if Keith has legitimately became fhe leader in his place.
I agree with this! When I first saw Kuron I was skeptical about it being the actual Shiro, but what happened in the episode with him being so desperate to get back to the other paladins, and all the memories, made me believe that he is, but I was super uncomfortable with the hair change. All of the evidence that you've brought up is really bringing me back to believing that Kuron isn't Shiro and that Shiro is still out there, somewhere that the Black Lion is unable to teleport him back from. The secret is hidden within the eyeliner
I originally thought that the "new" Shiro (Kuron) was some sort of sleeper agent. Evidence piled up not just from "The Journey", but from episodes past that. Kuron's attitude was different from what I remembered (and what I saw when I went back to re-watch the first couple seasons), and his "bond" with Black seems non-existent when he used to be the pilot who had the greatest bond with his lion.
The clone theory does make sense; it could be a combination (clone and sleeper agent) as well. The Galra had plenty of time to do experiments if they had his DNA, not to mention the druid's control over quintessence. There's also the color of that liquid; it's the same color of the "corrupted" quintessence the druids were making, as well as the color of the vials the Beta Traz prison guard used to beef himself up (and I believe some of what's sustaining Zarkon right now).
At this point in the story, quintessence has been mentioned and used a few times, but there's not a lot of deep understanding about it. We got a story of what happened to the original Paladins, but not much on quintessence (aside from the writers saying it's supposed to be similar to the Force; I always compared it to the Lifestream from FF7). Clues have been dropped, but the reason we don't know much about it is probably done on purpose.
Though, they might as well tell us since pretty much everyone is 99.9% certain that this new Shiro (Kuron) is a different person.
I was trying to figure out what the purpose of this would be; during the first couple seasons, it would have made sense if Zarkon ordered this to be done (planning to recapture Shiro and replace him with a clone) in order to fly the Black Lion straight into his hands.
At this point, I was having trouble figuring out the "why"...until Keith went full emo (sorry, I don't like him and I don't accept how, pardon the pun, alienated he became from the team to the point of putting them in mortal danger had Black not decided to let Kuron leave the hangar...and it was probably a difficult decision made only because Black has sentience and knew the other lions and pilots were in danger...and Kuron was similar enough to Shiro to be the pilot. Evidence of that is how long Black took to wake up).
Once Kuron was the pilot of Black, I started to wonder if it's some way to ensure that Voltron can easily be dismantled. If the clone defects (or a sleeper agent situation kicks in), they can make Voltron turn back into five lions from the inside.

It's going to be like Red Arrow from Young Justice, he'll fight some gaulra general, then they say a code word to freeze him and he'll tell them what's Voltron planning, and Kuron wouldn't even know it.
Joking aside, because Shiro is my favorite character of the show, I think episode 5 is my favorite episode of season 3, but yah, he's probably a clone, but he still has the same personality and leadership wisdom, I liked the first talk he has with Keith in episode 6, so I won't totally accept this guy, but I'm not going to scream #NOTMYSHIRO or anything, I want the real Shiro back, wherever the hell he is. I've been thinking of that Evangelion thing you mentioned in your theory video, I'd buy it, but if that's the case, Shiro must be seeing some really weird sh*t, if you saw what happened to Shinji in episode 20. I imagine Kuron is going to find out he's not the real Shiro, and sacrifice himself to save the real one, just making predictions.
Though my favorite joke involving the not my Shiro thing is, I saw a video where it shows Kuron, then it immediately shows a clip from Rooster Teeth's Camp Camp Season 2 episode 1, where the main character Max shouts "Who the f*ck is that!!!"

I think that shiro is a clone because the hair first thing I noticed was the shaved part wasn't all the way to the white and if you remember when they showed the episode of him escaping everyone tried to stop him and I think that that was just to implant a memory in the clone so he could tell the other paladins about it so he sounded realistic.I think there is hope for Shiro though because I feel like if keith and Shiro are brothers then that means shiro's part Galra which mean that keith might be able to psychically connect with Shiro's real body and wake him out of his sleep and track his location and save him. I also think that keith will somehow fall in love with lance in the same episode.
I loved the lion switch. It bought out different things from the characters, especially keith, lance, and alura. And the point is for us to really feel how sad they are about Shiro being gone.
But hey guys do you really think OUR Shiro was the clone one and this Kuron is the real Shiro because I am not so convinced yet. When Our Shiro escaped and the Galra people saw him they were like shocked and the other aliens were like "the Champion is back!" So in a way, the real Shiro must have disappeared from the hands of the Galra. I remembered Haggar saying "You could've been our strongest weapon!" or something so he really must've escaped. Our Shiro might really be the real Shiro and Kuron might really be the clone. And on a crazier note, maybe they're both clones and the real Shiro actually died that's why the Galra has been trying to clone him and Shiro might've been the best clone that's why they were so angry when he initially escaped.

I LOVED the lion switching! I grew up on the 80s Voltron so when I started the new one I was so confused. Nobody was in their right lions. It made so much sense when they did the switch, especially since their mismatched armor was FINALLY explained.

Actually, from what I read in another interview article, and from what I understand from it, it sounds like the Lion Switch is sticking for the rest of the series and the first couple seasons were an elaborate explanation about why the armour doesn't match the lion colours.

I had a theory that possibly the last episode of season 3 where they talk about the story of Althor (Is that how u spell it?) and Zarcon might be foreshadowing what could happen between Kuron and Keith. because it says that Zarcon and Althor were very close like Shiro and Keith, but if 'Shiro' is actually Kuron he might start destroying the team from an emotional point of view.

I think there is another possibility. What if the Shirogane that we know is the clone and the real Shiro has been with Matt the whole time?
Remember, Shirogane didn't remember anything from his time as a captive of the Galra. Perhaps he's always been a clone and when he unlocked the black lion's true powers the Black Lion saw that and rejected him as a creation of the galra?
Obviously this is a stretch and I hope i'm wrong. I would much rather it be that this Shiro that we see in season 3 is actually a clone and the real Shiro will return at some point later :)

I noticed that when shiro or "shiro" had just gotten back he said that he "has a weird headache" or something like yeah ill be fine, i just need to get rid of this weird headache so my theory is, that maybe it isnt a clone, but the galra people did something to him or his brain? Or u know it could be from the cloning but there has to be a reason for that i just feel it

Why do people habe a Problem with the lion switches it was great, allura finally became a real character and lance & Keith got character development
Emma because the originals can never be replaced. And each one was building a bond with the lions and the fact that it's stripped right when they were developing into a deeper bond sucks. Allura is the one who has the best control with the castle anyways
I agree that the musical lions game was great for character development and exploration, but I hope it's a temporary thing. After finishing season 4 I went back and watched the latter bits of season 2, and the team cohesion is just a lot stronger. But it is great to see allura get her hands dirty, and the new dynamic keeps things fresh

Also, in newer episodes, "Shiro" is trying to convince team Voltron to go along with Lotor's plan, and snaps when Lance tries to calm him down. He brings lotor to where he wanted to go by himself, not telling a word to the team, and when he is alone with Lance he tells him that "he doesn't feel like himself".
There's definetly something along the lines of a clone, now the real question is wether that clone is this Shiro, or the one we've already come to know.

Padraic loingsigh i think there is no possible way to change back to another lion. Lance change so the blue Lion doesnt find him worthy anymore. Found Allura who from the start has developed a lot.
If they plan to get shiro to be the black Lion again. I think either Lance or Keith will not be in voltron. Since we never saw how Red react to Keith now.

I just finished watching all of VLD yesterday, and seeing Shiro's return just gave me so many bad vibes. I refuse to accept new Shiro as the one we've known the past two seasons, and I am absolutely behind this clone theory. It makes sense and honestly I hope that's what it is. There's no good reason I'll accept for the Black Lion to just suddenly reject him after such a strong bond, and he just feels so... fake when he returns lol. I just hope I get my real Shiro back soon ;-;
