This was a really great video. It's always good to see players sharing knowledge. I'll definitely checking out the other episodes you've made. This one alone was a great help.
awesome dude i've been wondering why most my comboes havnt been working despite knowing I was inputting the buttons properly, lol now I kno I was just rushing them thinking it works the faster you do it. thanks for the tips man!
@CoolBoyCorporate you are the man... Subscribed... keep the great MVC3 vids comming! And thanks once again, I'll be trying to perfect this in training mode :)
@CoolBoyCorporate A hit confirm is something you do to determine whether their guard was broken and whether to commit to a combo. It has nothing to do with why a combo works; in this case you're not confirming anything, it's simply your timing or some other factor which allows an extended OTG combo to work.
Just a quick tip to people struggling with the dash - I'm almost positive that if done properly, you can just do the heavy demon flip into dive kick as a substitute for a dash and a light dive kick.
@DemonDash this is true, but many others also consider a hit confirm when a risky move becomes safe because of your reaction time during your chain whether be blocking or attacking. If I know what most people can relate to then I would always choose those certain terms instead of others. Thanks for your feedback btw, I'll be noting this one down also for future videos
@klonene I will also note this down for the update to make sure i can clarify everything. Thanks for the note, but I believe if you do the dash then you can take advantage of doing two hits then special because of the range. Yea the double super can open people's options and Im glad that others know you are not restricted from the corner for that.
@XxNeMeS1SxX glad to know it helped. I'm still running through characters trying to see who has what potential because there's always room for improvement in your game or learning of specific chars.
@yourstillwithme yea its really telling your opponent that you know your stuff and more or less make them hesitate more. someone can safe tag from that distance too if you run out of meter since your using too so it had its pros and cons. Its nice to know that the option is there cuz it opens up more possibilities
@Apemopo The beam hyper comes out faster but akuma can be punished at the end of it. his scatter fireball hyper does more damage if your comboing into the wall but it comes out much slower. At the same time, the fireball hyper is safe if your opponent is blocking it.
You can just do a heavy demon flip with the dive kick to OTG if they are farther away. It seems a bit easier than dashing in, and allows you to be a bit more versatile with your air combo.
This was actually really really helpful since Akuma is my anchor and is also the strongest of my 3. Could you post a video explaining more in depth of how to do the combo you did at the 3 min. mark. How is is that you can still input S after the multi fireball super?
You don't necessarily have to dash mid-screen. It requires a stricter timing but you can also use the H version of the flip quick (for all characters). I do it all the time, but it took me a while to figure out the timing and pull it off consistently. Basically, start the input command before Akuma hits the ground, and finish it (db+attack) as he hits the ground. I find it easier than dashing and then do the quicker versions of the move.
@glennx77 thanks for the feedback man, right now I don't have one for Chris but I will be in the future. I wish I could put out things more frequent but I'm a lone warrior at the moment lol so slowly I will get through more of the cast.
@Uohz you can pull this off if you had perfect hit confirming time from the air. Unfortunately matches don't go as planned most of the time but with practice it can be realistic.
Hey cool man thanks for the tip about the hit stun deterioration but don't some characters have certain bnb air combos that need to be done fast or they will whiff?
@CoolBoyCorporate great men!! ;] im good at him but not as good at pro lvl =/ and sure ill be glad to tune up on him on ur channel soon thanx again and good luck at ur exams bro !!
Omfg! I been looking for his otg forever thank you! Two questions: 1. Is there an easier way to do the dragon punch? I use a controller and it's hard with the joystick, usually I just wiggle it back and forth like I'm trying to do a lot of hadukens 2. Is that dash you were using to go through hulk akumas normal dash?
@wmcdougald yea that was mentioned previously, I further tested it and it is easier to do in certain situations and I will be adding that to my update when I make the video. Thanks for your mention
Don't know if this has been said or not but after you use the fireball super in mid-air, you can shoot another hadouken ball and it will hit them when you super them again on the ground.
Great(: is that kick in the air that you get the character to ground bounce off of just a normal or is it a kick that you have to do during the demon flip? Oh and Have you looked into Nat types and tried to fix the connection issue?
@hazeddon 99% sure it has to be beam because you need something to travel faster that will hold your opponent too. If you do the barrage one then eventually your opponent will end up falling cuz the fireball spread is from full screen
@HeyimdirtyCleanMe you have to press M during the demon flip to activate his flame kick. And they say its about your port settings on your 360 network settings. Something to do with the connection type and your router
@F0Xhound009 there are certain characters that need more speed during their bnb but every character who gets launched for the first time in the air tend to have a lot of window time for hit confirming.
@Doober717 - light jump hurricane kick - use your hadoken to make them jump and you can teleport to get behind them or close and then use your overhead - even if nothing works, as long as your using hadoken to finish the block chain, your opponent is losing chip he will not want to see continue Realistically ppl run from akuma so getting combos can be quite difficult. people underestimate his heavy purple fist, you can play keep away and throw that out and be safe at times. instant knockdown
@yttuty hey, I put the definition and what people reference OTG for in my description but I will clarify it here. Basically OTG means off the ground where when you smack your opponent to the ground from the air or some special move, the OTG move is the one that bounces them off the ground and lets you continue your combo. For akuma, its his purple flame kick.
You dont need to dash on the smaller characters if you hitstun to decently late in the air, then heavy flip into the flamekick. Works from anywhere. Have been doing it for some time now. but that double super from anywhere on the screen helped me :D thx! =)
@bubbabojanglez actually I am using the 360 controller for this one. Are you timing it right? if you do the combo slow enough in the air then you don't need to dash in order to get the otg to work. You can just use the heavy version. Its a tough one, his otg is one of the hardest out there but eventually I am sure you will manage.
@CoolBoyCorporate when you do the demon flip into the flame kick for OTG, do you use the light one or the medium one? Seems like it is the light one since the dash in would make you close enough to use light.
@CiscoKIDxKOx Are you talking about the deadpool video I did or this one lol? itll help me more when it comes to specifying the video. But i do think I know what your talking about. Are you talking about when you do the katana and not donig the wall bounce?, if so it works more when you do a luanch combo then bring them down and then try the katana rama otg. thanks for the feedback btw
first off great vid! but i have two questions: 1. when i did a a katana rama with deadpool what do i press to keep the combo going, I would do the katana rama and the person would lift(i would input a attack) and he would just fall. 2. When you do a combo and lift them in the air how do you drop them to the ground without doing a team ariel combo?
@unceunce never use light hits in your air combos. I don't know which strings you are using but if you use, Medium Punch then Heavy Punch then Special slowly, you should be able to OTG then always use Special to begin with since it is good practice. Then after you get better with it, try using Crouching Medium Punch or Crouching Heavy Kick
@bubbabojanglez in umvc3 apparently not but who knows. I hope it still is. I mean they taking some of his health and reducing the active frames for the otg dive kick
@silbakor Thanks man, glad to know it helped out. Ill prob be making a new one for ultimate since the re launch is going to be done differently with the changes to akuma.
@561shadow your welcome man. yea it took me a while to realize this cuz im like, this is getting annoying so lemme do it real slow. Reminded me of old mvc1 combos to re launch so I took that style from there. Your welcome once again
i use dash by pressing R2 on the ps3 controller or the RT on the 360. Then after you do that, press down, and repeat the process. R2 then downward on the direction pad or analog.
@bkzsoulja I am buffering it as I fall so the button that I am pressing when I land is just square then triangle. Its all about the timing of your combo because in the air take as long as you can so you have more window space to do your combo. When I do the combo now, even if I don't buffer the move, if its done fast enough I can still get the otg. So take more time in your combo and learn how to buffer the move and you will get it out more often
@Kuya1991 I will note this down as one of the topics when I make an update to the video. Basically though, the multiple fireball hyper continues to hit your opponent while you fully recover. Its the same concept similar to the combo after it, the fireballs are still going while your ready to hit again. Test it out in the corner on sentinel first then move down to smaller size characters
@THEBURNINGPUNCHX Wesker's another character Im slowly learning. I used to play with him originally but chose a diff team to focus on but now I'm going to use him sometime soon
Im curious, the last combo where you did the air to the ground one, can you use the barrage hyper instead of the beam hyper? Or does it have to be the beam?
@CodyTheDog then it means your are not pressing back at the end of down at the second step. Make sure you really go Down - Back - Down. because if you dont, you will always get the tornado kick. Try going as slow as possible then pick up the pace. Then after that works play a cpu and try to make it work because its harder to hit a moving target. Then when you get it down there, try facing another person and if it works, then you got it man
A few questions 1) When I watch pro Akumas ex: Justin Wong, he throws a random Hadoken after the in the air hyper and then catches the on the ground super. 2) How do you do the flame dive kick OTG?
@CoolBoyCorporate OK thanks alot! But one question, how do you get that OTG off so fast? I try doing it as I'm falling down, and I've tried as soon as I land, but it hits them as soon as the opponent gets up. When do u start doing this motion?
Good video man!! Can anybody tell me if otgs are the same buttons for all characters? I’m still trying to learn this game and don’t kno how to hit them back off the ground when they bounce. Also I play on a hori fight stick
@DemonDash hit confirming was related to the hits in the air, you may have just been listening to that and comparing it every combo in the video. I was only focusing on specific points during the hits, not everything.
Ok, pertaining to the PS3 version, can someone tell me the control move to do Akuma's OTG kick? I try Down + Triangle but it does not work? Not sure so any help would be appreciated, thanks.
@jehcrazyjehcmy Well what I do is I go fully forward down forward. I barely use it but I believe you can press down forward twice and you will get the dragon punch. But I will test this when i go on again to make sure. your second question kinda confusing, can you repeat the question?
@BdBeDdiE This is a tough one because it is similar to saying what are good supporters for phoenix. Ofcourse i relate him to her because they are both usually used last. However when I use akuma first or second, ryu's hadoken, or a beam + haggar or good block chaining/anti advance gaurd assists like ame cold start are great. I love using ryus hadoken and match it with 2 akuma hadokens
This was a really great video. It's always good to see players sharing knowledge. I'll definitely checking out the other episodes you've made. This one alone was a great help.
really good video man! I just started learning this character and could never get his OTG's, but you explained it really well
awesome dude i've been wondering why most my comboes havnt been working despite knowing I was inputting the buttons properly, lol now I kno I was just rushing them thinking it works the faster you do it. thanks for the tips man!
Thanks, I just picked up Akuma for my team, this'll be something I'll have to practice and integrate into my playing.
that was a pretty awesome vid. everything was explained really well and i never knew about that double hyper =)
@CoolBoyCorporate you are the man... Subscribed... keep the great MVC3 vids comming! And thanks once again, I'll be trying to perfect this in training mode :)
Thank you, akuma has won me so many close fights. With this vid and a little practice I should be almost guaranteed to ko every time with akuma
good stuff sir. lovin' the work you are putting in.

@ZERO0220690 your welcome, and trust me the combo becomes routine after a while and you will be seeing it become more successful online and offline.
@CoolBoyCorporate great men!! ;] im good at him but not as good at pro lvl =/ and sure ill be glad to tune up on him on ur channel soon thanx again and good luck at ur exams bro !!

Excelent video.. good explanation.
@wmcdougald yea that was mentioned previously, I further tested it and it is easier to do in certain situations and I will be adding that to my update when I make the video. Thanks for your mention
@CoolBoyCorporate thanks for the tutorial, been having trouble with this OTG.
Don't know if this has been said or not but after you use the fireball super in mid-air, you can shoot another hadouken ball and it will hit them when you super them again on the ground.
@SStrunks yes I do the light version. It is the quickest one and I am buffering it while dashing.

@Zombie2501 thanks man. I'm also hoping to see someone on a stream or a major tourny pull of the last combo I did in this video.

@sohnmai you are correct but its up to you if your willing to risk the window time you have. Its possible offline, but online lol I wouldn't recommend
@F0Xhound009 there are certain characters that need more speed during their bnb but every character who gets launched for the first time in the air tend to have a lot of window time for hit confirming.
@Doober717
- light jump hurricane kick

thanx alot men this is my last character on my team i only need to know how to do the diving flame kick and thats it ;] thanx alot this video

@BdBeDdiE also, usings a low hitting assist like deadpool or x-23 makes good rush because he has a safe approach with his tornado kick
so what is the buttons to do these otg moves?
@bkzsoulja I am buffering it as I fall so the button that I am pressing when I land is just square then triangle. thanks for reminding me to take my time.
Thanks, this'll be helpful.
@cortlon91 you want to do back down back then any punch button then medium punch which is triangle on the ps3
@Hershey07 lol yea, alot of people get excited when their in a combo and commonly get it done quick. Its a habit that always tempts us.
@Karnage420111 can you specify alittle more. Do you mean after an air hyper?
@frodo8888 yes I will and thanks for the idea actually, I will note it down and create this when I have the time
how do i smash them to the ground without going into a team combo?
@THEBURNINGPUNCHX Wesker's another character Im slowly learning. I used to play with him originally but chose a diff team to focus on but now I'm going to use him sometime soon
Im curious, the last combo where you did the air to the ground one, can you use the barrage hyper instead of the beam hyper? Or does it have to be the beam?
How do you flame kick with akuma
what are the differences between his fire ball beam and lots of fireballs hypers? can anyone tell me?
@CodyTheDog then it means your are not pressing back at the end of down at the second step. Make sure you really go Down - Back - Down. because if you dont, you will always get the tornado kick. A few questions
1) When I watch pro Akumas ex: Justin Wong, he throws a random Hadoken after the in the air hyper and then catches the on the ground super.
@IQKZZZ hey man, back - down - back - any punch depending on the range you want - medium punch
@IQKZZZ your welcome man, and I appreciate it
Good video man!! Can anybody tell me if otgs are the same buttons for all characters? I’m still trying to learn this game and don’t kno how to hit them back off the ground when they bounce. Also I play on a hori fight stick
so after the otg move you need to do a lower attack huh? because I finnaly got the otg but special doesn't hit.
Hey how do you actually do the OTG dive kick?
@DemonDash hit confirming was related to the hits in the air, you may have just been listening to that and comparing it every combo in the video. I was only focusing on specific points during the hits, not everything.
@BlueEye096 dragon punch but use the S button, X for ps3 or A for 360. forward - down - forward or back - down - back
For Some Reason Whenever i combo And i hit X to throw them on the floor and do the dive kick it sets me up for a team air combo how do you stop that?
How do you do the otg move?
@bkzsoulja you need to do Back - Down - Back then any punch button then triangle
@bkzsoulja also keep my updated with your progress so I can continue to help
What's the button for doing the otg I don't no how thx
@ZERO0220690 lol Im glad to hear. Are you beating them down with ease now?
Ok, pertaining to the PS3 version, can someone tell me the control move to do Akuma's OTG kick? I try Down + Triangle but it does not work? Not sure so any help would be appreciated, thanks.
@Maxaga your welcome man
@AflackDuck11 glad to know it helped man.
Best Akuma ever
yea, even in umvc3, he can do even more damage. Akuma has that effect, makes people scared to throw something out there incase they get punished hard
man do u have a chris tutorial? it would help a lot thx a lot
BTW ur vids rock!
@CoolBoyCorporate the 5th hit, hulk is thrown to the ground. when i do it my partner comes out and attacks him.
@jehcrazyjehcmy how do you do akumas teleport? Also do you game with your subs?
@CoolBoyCorporate please do explain i cant figure this out. why doesnt it otg?
hey cbc how do you dash really quick like how you did at 2:05 - 2:07?? pls reply
