    Your admiration of Richter is very understandable and nice, but your superlatives will not put this magnificent artist on the same pedestal by others, because we judge our best performers subjectively. None of us could be an ultimate judge. I heard Richter in Moscow in 1968, at the zenith of his pianistic career. All Beethoven sonatas.He was Stupendous!
    But he had a quite a strong competition with Emil Gilels in those days. Then came Grigory Sokolov, Ashkenazy and others. They all are pianists- extraordinaire, making their own interpretations and touching hearts of the public differently. We are lucky to have such wonderful “pool” of great artists we can enjoy.

    Second movement, Beethoven is pouring out his heart and soul, setting aside all his usual formality. Such pain, inexpressible heartbreak...a premonition of approaching unfathomable sadness.

      And what makes this performance special is that Richter is doing the same thing--pouring out his heart and soul. Music allowed Richter to express his own soul more effectively than anything else.

    Sviatoslav Richter, such a remarcable human being, the greatest pianist I have ever heard. His sound is unmimicable and his interpretations are the safe space that I always draw to as a refugee, when I feel vulnerable. My understanding of music grew immensely after I discovered him and my playing improved because of studiously listening to his recordings. I wish he were still alive. Thank you for the upload.

    Richter will never be compared to any other pianist, those who respect themselves will know that what I say is true. There has been no one with his sound and virtuosity at the same time. That has never been seen. Rubinstein said "when I heard Ricther tears came out of My eyes, it seemed like another instrument that I was listening to "were his words. Let's stop following the rankings and the media that are only based on information, this goes beyond that. This is listening carefully to their interpretations and you will know how great Richter is.

    • @atherleyboy
      @atherleyboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes. He is incomparable; the vision of his interpretations, his wonderful control of tone, the incredible virtuosity combined with simplicity and lack of affectation of his playing. No living pianists come near to him..

      You may be principally right and Your passion for this singular pianist and artist is to be well understood. But You can´t forget other ones, mainly e.g. Emil Gilels with his wonderful "belcanto" In his tone (comparable with that of Rubinstein). Besides that, the music of the composer Beethoven offers so many posssibilities and we can be glad, that not only pianist can realize them.
