    like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

    Before I will break holes in my walls, SONOS must agree for a minimum of 20 years of support to this products.

    I wish Sonos would create an Amp: Mini that removes the Sub port, HDMI input and is only intended for surround speakers.
    They could sell something like this for $299 (half the price of the Amp).

    For using the in-wall as rear surrounds where the back of the sofa is against the wall, would the in-walls sound significantly worse as surrounds as compared to Era 100s that could be wall-mounted on the same wall?

    I am setting up a small home theater. I thinking of using the following: Sonos Arc, and two sonance in ceiling. So I will need those items and amp, right? I would also like to use a Sub. What are the connections of all of this? I will run speaker wire from the ceiling to the amp. Does the soundbar or sub need to connect to the amp as well? I was thinking of just fixing the amp behind the tv.

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Taylor. Yes that's correct, you'll need the Sonos Amp to power the Sonance in-ceilings as rears to the Arc. The Sonos Arc is what will connect to the TV via HDMI-ARC, the Amp will power the ceiling speakers via speaker cable to each ceiling speaker and does not need to be connected to the Arc as it can be set up as surrounds to the Arc wirelessly. The Sub will also connect wirelessly to the zone. All 3 components will also need mains power. I hope that helps!

      Hi Iain, you'd need to replace the Ones with the ceiling speakers as they can only be used as surrounds to the Arc. They may let you extend the system beyond 5.1.2 in the future over a software update but as it stands now, you'll need to choose between the Ones and the ceiling speakers. Hope that helps!

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark, TruePlay would only be available on the Connect:Amp if you use Sonos' own in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. You cannot use different brands of speakers on the Connect:Amp and use TruePlay. Hope that helps.

    With a 4.1 setup, do I need two amplifiers?

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brett, yes to create a 4.1 set up with Sonos, you would need 2 Sonos Amps as the Amp can only perform one function at a time, either to power front left and right or as surrounds. You'd finish the system off with a Sub to create a full 4.1. Hope that helps!

    In a media room would it make sense to have the Arc under the TV and the in wall for the left and right channels?

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, thanks for watching. Unfortunately, the Arc cannot act as a centre channel but it may be something Sonos look into doing in the future if there is enough demand. Currently, what would happen is you'd group the TV Audio from the Arc to the in-wall speakers but it wouldn't sound great. Therefore you'd either need to use all in-wall speakers (instead of the Arc) and the Amp will output a phantom centre channel or use the Arc to replace the in-wall speakers. I hope that helps!

    What would you use for your centre channel or don’t you need one?

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Phillip, the Amp actually produces a phantom centre channel when you use the Amp as the front left and right with your TV. We found it to be very impressive and you don't feel like the sound is coming from the 2 speakers either side but throws the sound to either side when it needs to like for example if a car moves from left to right. Of course, it wouldn't compare to having a dedicated HiFi system with centre channel etc but it makes the best of what a wireless system can do. I hope that helps!

    Could I add these to a Arc/surround (1SL’s) and sub? Or is this a totally different way of operating with ATMOS etc

    • @smarthomesounds
      @smarthomesounds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alistair, you'd be able to group the audio from the architectural TV speakers as a separate zone with the Arc, Sub and One SLs but it wouldn't be an official set up from Sonos and probably wouldn't be worth the investment. The maximum you can achieve is 5.1.2 Atmos by using the Arc, Sub and rear speakers which can be One SLs or in-ceiling / in-wall speakers. If you have the full Arc system at the moment, currently the only way you could improve the set up is by adding a second Sub but it's certainly not for everyone. I hope that helps!

    • @Dreacon34
      @Dreacon34 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mitchellsx you connect up to 3 pairs not up to 6 speakers. the difference is that the amp only has stereo connection and not a connector for each speaker. so there would be the problem that sonos cant physicaly seperate the audio on the speaker wires and that would be required. so basically sonos needs to publish a new dolby atmos amp which would be great actually.
