Awakening is neither enlightenment nor liberation,
Awakening is a direct intuitive realization that 'we' are the silent luminous presence and not the ego or the body-me. Awakening is neither enlightenment nor liberation, is just awakening. Liberation happens only when the egoic self dissolves for ever totally.
If together with awakening doesn´t happen the total disolution of the egoic self ( which is what happens in almost all cases) then sadhana have to be continued with the same intensity as before.
What changes is our attitude. We are free from the anxiety and the impantience to discover the truth. There is deep release of the tension. But sadhana continous as before until all egoic stractures and the ego-sense disappear forever and we experience in all conditions and circumstanses without a break the peace and bliss eternal without a trace of suffering. This is liberaton this is self-realization, this is enlightenment.

This is interesting. I experienced the opposite. After a huge revelation and experience of my (all) true nature I had a huge melt down, like an opening of Pandora’s box and I experience the release of so much grief and suffering. I only survived it because I knew it wasn’t real but the experience of deep suffering and pain was. It took 3 yrs of CPTSD and another 2 for it to be gone completely. Even though I held onto nothing, it was like a raging river that had to pour out of me and eventually became and stream before it completely dried up. I’ve also heard often of others going through this too.

The liberated one - Vivekachudamani - Adisankaracharya
    428. He whose illumination is steady, who has constant bliss, and who has almost forgotten the phenomenal universe, is accepted as a man liberated in this very life.
    429. He who, even having his mind merged in Brahman, is nevertheless quite alert, but free at the same time from the characteristics of the waking state, and whose realisation is free from desires, is accepted as a man liberated-in-life.
    430. He whose cares about the phenomenal state have been appeased, who, though possessed of a body consisting of parts, is yet devoid of parts, and whose mind is free from anxiety, is accepted as a man liberated-in-life.
    431. The absence of the ideas of "I" and "mine" even in this existing body which follows as a shadow, is a characteristic of one liberated-in-life.
    432. Not dwelling on enjoyments of the past, taking no thought for the future and looking with indifference upon the present, are characteristics of one liberated-in-life.
    433. Looking everywhere with an eye of equality in this world, full of elements possessing merits and demerits, and distinct by nature from one another, is a characteristic of one liberated-in-life.
    434. When things pleasant or painful present themselves, to remain unruffled in mind in both cases, through the sameness of attitude, is a characteristic of one liberated-in-life.
    435. The absence of all ideas of interior or exterior in the case of a Sannyasin, owing to his mind being engrossed in tasting the bliss of Brahman, is a characteristic of one liberated-in-life.
    436. He who lives unconcerned, devoid of all ideas of "I" and "mine" with regard to the body, organs, etc., as well as to his duties, is known as a man liberated-in-life.
    437. He who has realised his Brahmanhood aided by the Scriptures, and is free from the bondage of transmigration, is known as a man liberated-in-life.
    438. He who never has the idea of "I" with regard to the body, organs, etc., nor that of "it" in respect of things other than these, is accepted as one liberated-in-life.
    439. He who through his illumination never differentiates the Jiva and Brahman, nor the universe and Brahman, is known as a man liberated-in-life.
    440. He who feels just the same when his body is either worshipped by the good or tormented by the wicked, is known as a man liberated-in-life.
    441. The Sannyasin in whom the sense-objects directed by others are engulfed like flowing rivers in the sea and produce no change, owing to his identity with the Existence Absolute, is indeed liberated.

I myself have awoken to Reality (although there is no "I" which has awoken), but I do not identify myself with or as anything in particular from any of the religious and mystical/spiritual traditions, such as "Atman/Brahman", "God", "Tao", etc.... as I do not give any name or form (including namelessness, formlessness and attributeless, etc...) to that Reality, which I have awoken to and realize as who I am, since such terms DO NOT reflect or indicate Reality.

Post awakening awareness allows everything, allows differences, no resistence... This is Dao.... The opposite is what ego does.... But by not allowing, it actually is the way for the ego to create/manifest.... For example, water moves freely by Dao. It is human to create dam to stop water to move natually in order to generate electical power.... Two edges of the same sword, by not allowing, our human being creates mental suffering.....

    • @NBT2469

And to add to that comes the saying "what we resist, persists".......who we really are, is neither the things that come up, nor the individual body/mind person, to whom such is occuring, as we are THAT, Which is beyond all such things. Namaste!

    SONG OF MAHAMUDRA
    Whenever I'm meditating on mahamudra
I rest without struggle in actual real being
    I rest relaxed in a free-from-wandering space
    I rest in a clarity-cradled-in-emptiness space
I rest in awareness and this is blissful space
I rest unruffled in non-conceptual space
In variety's space, I rest in equipoise
And resting like this is native mind itself
A wealth of certainty manifests endlessly
Without even trying, self-luminous mind is at work
Not stuck in expecting results, I'm doing OK
No dualism, no hopes and fears, Ho Hey!
Delusion as wisdom, now that's being cheerful and bright!
Delusion transformed into wisdom, now that's all right!

The sense of Iness after awakening and liberation
When after awakening egoic patterns arise in us is imposible not to sense them as ourselves, I mean to continue sense as before: I feel this, I experience this, I think this etc ; that we as ego we are the agent of feelings , perceptions, thoughts etc.
That it is to say that together with the mental or emotional wave arise in us also the sense of Iness. This happens because every egoic expresion is part of the Iness; for example the Iness and anger are not two different energies two different factors. The Iness itself asumes the form of anger; thus when anger arises is imposible not to feel I am angry. Is just imposible. Ιt would be like saying that there is sunlight without sun and seawaves without sea.
We know that this is not our identity and may not lose ourselves in them but this doesn´t mean that we are free from the sense of Iness, that we are free from the sense of the agent of these patterns.
Even if we find ourselves in the most detached dispassionate observation of an egoic tendency it is imposible not to experience the sense of Iness even if it is very subtle.
As long as the ego continues even very thin and debil we are not free from this sense although doesn´t cause suffering any more.
Adisankaracharya in his book Vivekachudamani says:
    442. For one who has realised the Truth of Brahman, there is no more attachment to the sense-objects as before: If there is, that man has not realised his identity with Brahman, but is one whose senses are outgoing in their tendency.
    342. Even wise men cannot suddenly destroy egoism after it has once become strong, barring those who are perfectly calm through the Nirvikalpa Samadhi. Desires are verily the effect of innumerable births
    299. So long as one has any relation to this wicked ego, there should not be the least talk about Liberation, which is unique.
    301. That which has been created by the Buddhi extremely deluded by Nescience, and which is perceived in this body as "I am such and such" - when that egoism is totally destroyed, one attains an unobstructed identity with Brahman.
    309. Even though completely rooted out, this terrible egoism, if revolved in the mind even for a moment, returns to life and creates hundreds of mischiefs, like a cloud ushered in by the wind during the rainy season.
    310. Overpowering this enemy, egoism, not a moment’s respite should be given to it by thinking on the sense-objects. That is verily the cause of its coming back to life, like water to a citron tree that has almost dried up.
    436. He who lives unconcerned, devoid of all ideas of "I" and "mine" with regard to the body, organs, etc., as well as to his duties, is known as a man liberated-in-life.

    • @NBT2469
      @NBT2469 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hence, the importance of post-awakening practices, like what Ramana Maharshi, Sroi Nisargadatta Maharaj and Robert Adams, as well as many Zen Masters, do after their initial awakening to Reality. Not many teachers nowadays mentions post-awakening practices, unfortunately!

Glad I found this video. I realised right away that I would need to dedicate myself to reducing the momentum behind my conditioned thoughts. 5 years on and there is still conflict, particularly as my childhood was full of trauma.
I can live in peace for some time but with the right trigger, my secondary self reverts to a childlike state during episodes of disassociation. At this time I’m just watching this ghost of a scared child try to explain its confusion to the people around me.
Also, I have experienced episodes of psychosis over a period of a week that got increasingly more challenging until I fell back in to the illusion again and was convinced I was being controlled and condemned by a merciless god.
    It was very humbling.

    Hi,
I know what some of my residues are, I think. This is very interesting; I would love to get rid of those residues.
As for the statement that, for the sage there are no distractions as no war on distractions has yet been declared I don’t think it is totally true in the sense that for normal people who are engaged in society, life situations change and all of us necessarily have to deal with those changes and adapt to them whether we like them or not.
I am sure Ramana Maharshi, for instance, was an amazing spiritual teacher. However, as far as I am aware, he never had a partner in life, he never had a child or children of his own to be responsible for and maybe he not even related to his own parents. He was a highly awakened individual surrounded and assisted by people who played a variety of supporting roles in his community but he did not expose himself to the normal living as someone who is truly engaged in society does. To my knowledge, not even intimate relationships he ever had (correct me if I am wrong as I have not read many books).
The point is, often times ‘spiritual’ individuals or whatever the correct name is could be avoiding the mundane experiences of the ordinary living precisely to run away from having to deal with such “distractions”. The experiences we want to avoid in life is a choice just as much as the ones that we want to embrace. However, one thing is to experience a conflicting situation with one’s own body, mind and heart and another is to observe others going through the pain or conflict at a distance and point out where their small self is because their movie story has too much distraction in it and is preventing them from seeing the screen. Again, I realize that he had extraordinary, life changing realizations, insights but that is not what I am referring to.
Anyway, I just want to tell you that I really admire people like yourself who are not afraid of engaging in society by being a part of it and yet, you are extraordinarily aware, extremely knowledgeable and sharp in your researches Your insights are spot on and you are an amazingly articulate communicator.✔
Thank you once again and have a wonderful night.

ps. I am afraid that you may not like that I say that but I love you and I can't help it because to my standards you are the top of the top, the creme-de-la-creme in the spiritual arena. Thank you for being you.
