Morgan James is, technically, perhaps one of the finest singers today. She is ex-Juilliard, and has been in many Broadway shows. I am a big fan! Also, sidenote...Roni, use your words, luv. :D
She was awesome, lots of gravitas. And thank you, I try to use my words, even when they don't come out correctly. Or in the right order. Or at all.. 😊🙏😫
At the age of 17, James realized it was her dream to attend The Juilliard School in New York City, and after auditioning, she was eventually wait-listed and then rejected. However, after significant correspondence with the head of admissions, she convinced him to accept her as the class's seventh singer, one above the usual six. There, she studied opera, and eventually earned her Bachelor of Music in Voice in 2003. In college, James also took a master class headed by Broadway veteran Barbara Cook.
Take a look at her cover of "Maps" done with PMJ as well. Also take a look at her, Ariana Savalas and Haley Reinhart covering "All About The Bass" Really worth looking at.
MJ is great. I have known her tracks for 8 years. I've seen her first with the PMJ. There were three singers who sang "All about the bass", but she is my fav. To choose her, to see and listen to her shows your fine musical taste. MJ is an educated singer, not just a talent. It isn't enough to be very good at something.
I'm one of her fans, and I can't explain why. Just! She is very good at performance. ( You look like a French woman, your hair, your face, your glasses.) Even if you haven't said a word in French.@@ronireacts_to_all
Bonjour, dear! When I was younger (coz I'm young now, even though I'm 67 years young) I also wanted to learn the French language. But I never did. That language is very hard and difficult. Much harder than English is. I offer Pomplamoose to you. (They're a music group, somebody had mentioned their name in the comments.) The French language is very nice. Learn it, you're young enough. @@ronireacts_to_all
Sorry! May I ask for your help with translating this row? I don't know its meaning. Is this a proverb? "caught in the middle of a hundred and five" This row is in the song "Moonlight Shadow" by Mike Oldfield @@ronireacts_to_all
she did such a nice job and has a lot of good stuff (including those shoes)... her fun cover of Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer (first time I'd seen her not performing w PMJ - I def kinda got a crush watching that performance)... a mellow simple cover of Sir Elton John's Rocket Man. I like she does some intimate, less produced work as well.. .sitting in a kitchen or a living room with a few people. Peace and Love as Always. Thanks for another reaction that made me smile.
@@ronireacts_to_all Fooled Around and Fell in Love is the song in the living room I forgot to mention...there's others but that was another to save. Even if ja don't react, its nice to have something roll around in the room.
@@McLeod2022 If you like Morgan's "intimate" covers you need to check out her StageIt Shows. Her & Doug (husband/guitarist) sitting in their music room doing (themed) songs and joking around with their fans. Well worth the $. The next one is Holloween songs this Saturday.
Roni, I really enjoyed your enthusiastic reaction. Morgan James is a phenomenal performer. If you get a chance to follow-up with some additional MJ songs I would like to suggest: Oh Me, Oh My: Baby, I love You: and Maps. All are amazing performances.
If you want to go down the Morgan James with PMJ rabbit hole, Maps, Barbie Girl, Take Me to Church, It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World and All About that Bass with Casey Abrams, Haley Reinhardt, Morgan James, and Ariana Savalas. If you want just Morgan James, her Aretha Franklin covers are beyond words. Come Together. Human. Sledgehammer. There are many more on Morgan’s channel but those are my favorites. Not to mention when she had a jam session with Haley singing Dear Prudence with Morgan’s husband Doug Wamble on the guitar.
its always good to listen to Morgan James, and Hailey is highly worth a number of listens. But as I often recommend and will state again, there are so many talented performers in PMJ that I recommend that one browse their past videos.
Hey Roni, I know I'm not the only one who suzzeested... euh sujested... euh recomeended Dream on, PMJ's cover with Morgan but I want to thank you for this video. I knew (I assumed) you would like it. Gurl, you funny, lol.
Morgan James has done a bunch of covers with PMJ. Some of my other favs: Maps 170s soul Maroon 5 cover, and Take me to Church by Hoizer. I also recommend a mashup by a group called Pomplamoose that takes the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams" and The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army and makes something incredible out of them.
I watched that one.. maybe it got blocked? I don't know, but I definitely watched it. I wasn't super excited about it to be honest, BUT! I loved her performance with Jeff Goldblum! Wow! What a treat!
@@ronireacts_to_all As people have said Morgan is a Juillard Grad (BA in Classical (opera) Voice and has 4 Broadway Shows under her belt. She continues to take Voice Lessons when not on the road working. Morgan is all about the Lyrics and she uses her many vocal talents to convey their meaning & feelings. She also will not let her voice be manipulated (auto Tune, etc) in any way on recordings. She gives a Master Class performance of Voice and Breath Control in her Cover of Jeff Buckley's "Grace"! 😲 This you should react to.
Ok, you didn't like the cover of "Creep" with Haley Reinhart, do you like Morgan James' voice better? For me, both of these singers are great. But when it comes to Morgan James (from Postmodern Jukebox), I recommend: - All About That Bass - Postmodern Jukebox European Tour Version - Take Me To Church - Piano / Vocal Hozier Cover ft. Morgan James - Barbie Girl - Vintage Beach Boys - Style Aqua Cover ft. Morgan James - Who Wants to Live Forever - Queen ('West Side Story' Style Cover) ft. Morgan James see ya.
I wear glasses since I'm 3 years old, and in those 37 years of wearing glasses, I never found one that keep clean, glasses are MEANT to be dirty and that is a pain in the hum. For the dislike part, if you ask, I think I'll do it, but that would be mean of you, I always love your videos...
Ha! Glasses man... I like mine though. Just gotta make sure I clean them correctly. And for the dislike part - we'll see, can be a funny little experiment.
Wow. Just Wow. No, not the song. You! You look like you're in an incredible mood and that's amazing to see considering...well...you know. Then again, it's hard to tell with you Hollyweird Actress types...you could be Punking us all. 😉 But seriously, it puts a smile on my grumpy face to see you in such a great mood. But seeing as you asked, doing well too. Saw some graffiti on a freeway overpass that said "Another Day Above Ground" which I found inspiring...we don't always appreciate the beauty of such a simple thing. As for the song...I always enjoy those jazz bar / lounge type of singing (unless it's a young kid singing it). This was no different. I can picture a darkly lit dinner club with cigarette smoke filling the air...a nice drink like a smoothly mixed cocktail of love and loneliness. The only negative is I wasn't a fan of her body language....especially when she really got into it. That said, I realize if a singer is really "feeling" it, it's not anything they consciously control so I hate saying that. But I couldn't help but watch and think to myself....yup....that's why I don't dance.
D!!! Well, if I'm completely honest, I recorded this reaction *before* everything... BUT, I was actually in a much much better mood that day (the day of posting) because I managed to enjoy the little things, small breathes of fresh air in my life. I love the graffiti you saw. Hit's me in the right place right now. I'm grateful for so many things and this graffiti you saw just adds to the list of things to be grateful for. As for the dancing - lol I didn't even notice it. 🤍💙🙏🎶
@@ronireacts_to_all I get that. I was lucky to see Morgan James live in Napa. It was amazing. She was covering the white album. It was just her and her husband on stage.
