Karan Johar asks Sadhguru about why there is a distinction between Religion and Spirituality. Is there a real clear cut difference between the two or are both terms nearly interchangeable?
The most thought provoking definition I heard has been this: "Spirituality UNITES while Relion, DIVIDES." I can't say I disagree with the above statement...
Spirituality defines truth and finding the truth between what is real and what is created by man. Spiritual is everything that comes from within yourself and no one. Comes from your soul your heart your mind and body. It’s not what people tell you. We all have others that guide us on the path that we need to be on. It’s up to you to find out the truth if that path is right or wrong.
Spirituality is more personal. Religion is more collective. Spirituality is more free, Religion restricts. Spirituality questions while Religion is absolute
Spirituality is accepting life as it is . If bad times comes accept it and if good times comes accept it . Acceptance is spirituality. Tolerance is spirituality living comfortably in the surrounding is spirituality. In religion people try to change other and force their belief on to others spirituality is accepting people as they are and accepting one's own life as it is . Hence in religion there are fixed methods of worship certain rules and regulations. A person of one religion prays differently than a person of different religion customs are also different and varies from one religion to another. There are no rules in spirituality. Neither there are any customs nor method of prayers. Spirituality is know your self whatever method is suited a person can follow.
I have a nature-based outlook on spirituality. It is being aware of yourself and everything around you, trusting and believing in the circle of life. Nature is chaotic but also orderly at the same time. Things happen because they happen; there's always a root cause and an effect. Having this mindset can make the prospect of chaos theory, aka the butterfly effect, attractive as well, haha, the whole idea that a butterfly flapping its wings to cause a natural disaster halfway around the world. I think writing this, I've identified where I feel most comfortable in life; This is on the side of a mountain observing nature, the earth, space, and time. Everything has a beginning and an end. The Phoenix will grow old and die and then is born out of the ashes to relive the process with a new mind every time.
Religions are the spritual experiences of most compassionate persons on earth ever lived. Religions are the experiences mould into words with aim so that ordinary ones and seekers can find a way. Religion were never problem.. You are not awakened is not also a problem.. Things are at right time and at right place.. You will find a way..if you have started to seek.
The Corruption of Understanding Christianity has corrupted Understanding. Fathers are not creators. It takes both father and Mother to create a child and the mother has more to do with the creation than does the father. The child is attached to the mother for nine months receiving nutriments for the creation. Religion has refused to give respect to the female until the modern time. And Gods are not creators. There are a great many Gods that have been worshiped. Gods are just Imaginary mythical personages of worship; Gods are not Creators. There is one and only Great Creator. And the Great Creator is not an imaginary mythical personage somewhere in space. The basic principle of Christianity is unjust, it is fraud. To kill one man for the crime of all humanity is truly fraud. It is also human sacrifice. It is Leading down from the Jewish animal sacrifice. It is all very primitive and ignorant. Christianity goes to other nations and successfully deceives many of them in the worshiping of their Imaginary Mythical Gods. Then, they go to war for the nation that they worship and kills their own member of their own churches. That Christian Nation performed the Greatest Massacre of human history. The Two Nuclear bombs dropped on Japan. We Who are Honest Claims no Authority. Yes, we who are honest are just honest with our understanding. The absolutes are not within the human intelligence. However, Honesty is the basic of wisdom. Christianity’s basic principles promotes dishonesty. You are to accept what you are told. You need no proof or understanding. Truly fraud: one man executed for the crimes of all Humanity. It is from the primitive sacrificing of animals to their many Mythical Gods. It is True Science and the unseeable spiritual activity that has proven the existence of the Great Creator. It is not religion that has proven anything. As religion is based on Fantasy. The Great Creator is not a being as most religions claim: ‘as one of those imaginary mythical gods some were in space.’ And Evolution does not mean that there is no Great Creator. Evolution is perhaps and likely, just one of the outstanding process of the Great Creator. The spiritual realms are the most important part of True Science. The Great Creator, Matter, Energy, Knowledge, Space, and Time has always existed, No beginning and no end. And cannot be created or destroyed. The Great Creator Saturates and Surrounds all Existence. Matter, Energy, Knowledge, Space, and Time are just different viewpoints and concepts of the Great Creator. They all are just components of the Great Creator from different perspectives. Religion has been the failed and futile attempt to search for the Great Creator and to the understanding of creation. And creation is only the rearrangement of Matter. We just call that rearrangement, creation. Matter is not created from nothing; Matter has always existed. And there is an abundance of matter in the endlessness of space. And knowledge and understanding are not created in the human brain. The brain was only designed and created to receive Knowledge. Truth is all that truly exists. Other than Truth there is just the understood concept of an absence. Even lies, whether intended to deceive or not, are Fantasy. Lies remain in the Fantasy realms, in the nonexistent realm. And as for those who think that the creation of the universe and life was created without intelligence, are in the world of fantasy. The principle of loving and caring for. all others as we would like to be loved and cared for is True Science. And it is the bases of justice It is not religion. It has nothing to do with the fantasy of the worshiping of the Gods. This is just words to the honest and wise: honesty and understanding is the only true belief. Without honesty and understanding we do not know what to believe. To accept other’s opinion of the truth without proving it to yourself; it is being deceived it is not believing. We must understand to believe. And religion is the succession of history to which God exist and meet the early people before and wrote the documents about it. I am a Spiritual Christian. But, I don’t believe that the Bible is the inherent, all inspired word of God. I do believe that the Bible has wonderful Historical spirit filled insight, into our God and the life and Death of Jesus. I really wish that All religions would stop with exclusivity. Christians , must spread the gospel! Muslims deem you Muslim from birth and all others are infidels ! Judaism has the same thoughts of we are the chosen one! So, each claims to love God. Yet, if one decides not to conform to the particular “religion”, they are stigmatized, and sometimes even killed!

Here’s the problem with religion. No one can agree with what their religion wants from them. They don’t know what their God wants from them. No one can agree with the same God being taught to them & people will even alter what God is to fit their philosophy. And anyone to claim to know is lying. We don’t know.
