      Thank you! And haha yeah I was wondering how to make the rock candy a little more exciting without painting them, and the idea popped into my mind literally 20 minutes before I shot this video! Thank god it worked out 😜

    Hi MK I'm loving your tutorials, very clear and precise. Would you mind telling me how to make your simple syrup and why you use it?

    • @CakesbyMK
      @CakesbyMK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Colette! Thank you so much for your lovely comments :) so glad you're finding the videos helpful! And great question, a few people have asked me this so I'm actually going to be releasing my next video on this in the next few days so keep an eye out for this! But basically it's used to keep your cake layers moist, and you can also add flavouring to the syrup to add extra flavour to your cake :)

    Beautiful fault line cake I have a question suppose my moms birthday is on 7th October and I will bake a cake for her with fondant and suger flower so can u tell me how many days before shall I bake and ice so that I don’t have stale cake

    • @CakesbyMK
      @CakesbyMK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Naysha :) So lovely to hear from a 10 year old baker! I would recommend making the cake a maximum of three days prior (so the 5th of October). Once they've come to room temperature, keep them tightly wrapped in cling film/glad wrap until you're ready to ice them as this will keep them nice and fresh. Only once you've iced the cake then put it in the fridge, as the icing acts a barrier to keep the cake layers moist (otherwise the fridge will dry your cake out). Hope that helps and good luck with your mums cake :)

    Once we add the syrup on the cake, should we wait for a while before adding the buttercream or can we add it immediately?

    • @CakesbyMK
      @CakesbyMK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! You can add it immediately as the simple syrup will soak in the cake very quickly :)

    Hi dear, what type of gold matelic paint u r using. Is it gel type coz u used straight from the bottle..

    • @CakesbyMK
      @CakesbyMK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! The type I used in the video is an edible gold paint which I believe is made out of lustre dust, so it's not a gel colour :) a good brand to use is Rainbow dust gold paint. Hope that helps! :)

      @CakesbyMK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Saadiyah! :D
      Hmmm... anything that's straight will work! A small thin chopping board, or a piece of straight card/cardboard. Anything that's straight but has some sturdiness to it! I'm going to be doing a video soon on how to decorate a cake with only common household items so keep an eye out for that it may help! :)

    • @CakesbyMK
      @CakesbyMK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! :) I got the rock candy from a local cake decorating store here in New Zealand, but I'm sure you can order them online. Yes they are completely edible! But they're basically just sugar so not sure how pleasant they are to eat :)

    Beautiful cake! Just came across your channel and I am in love! I was wondering how would I make the cream cheese SMBC? I love your ordinal SMBC recipe, would cream cheese be added at the end?

    • @CakesbyMK
      @CakesbyMK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! So glad to hear you're enjoying the videos :). I have been meaning to put my cream cheese SMBC recipe out but haven't got around to it yet! But basically what I do is I make a normal vanilla SMBC, then I make an ABC cream cheese buttercream, and then fold equal parts of each into each other. Hope that made sense and hope to put the recipe out soon :)
