CUSTOM ACTION FIGURES: The Question *NO MUSIC*

- I'm trying something a little different this week. Not only am I molding pieces for this Question figure, I am also not adding music outside the introduction. I've heard from a lot of you that these videos can be relaxing, and I wanted to see if cutting the music enhanced the experience or not.
That being the case, let me know in the comments if you prefer the videos with music or without music. Much like my figures in general, this is an experiment, so be sure to make your voice heard.
Now, on to the Question!

Never thought two DC figures and one anime figure would make for such a cohesive result. Good work, I must say!
Well, thank you so much! This was a fun one.
Lol that bug guy is escanor from the anime the seven deadly sins
Now I know what you remind me off, Mark Crilley, you are definitely the "Mark Crilley" of Custom painting figures. Simple yet effective videos. I usually go through all your videos in one go and check if I've missed out any.
Thanks so much!
Nice custom to make the question this character doesn't get much love. Great video dude
Thanks! This one had some great challenges.
Another banger!! Dude some of what you do is extraordinary, all of them are cool though!!!
I think half the fun is when I get to do something crazy.
Look at you getting to all these wish-list characters before McFarlane!
The Bob Ross of action figures!
Is that character from the watchmen? He came out great!
He's from DC, but he's actually the character Rorschach from Watchmen was based on. I want to do a Dr. Manhattan, but I'd want him au naturale, so I probably couldn't do him for the channel. 😆
The easiest Question figure I ever made was to take the McFarlane Platinum Edition Hush figure (already primer gray) and added an $8.00 Question 3-D printed head sculpt off eBay in the 7" scale. I disassembled the Hush figure (not really necessary), scrubbed the pieces with a firm toothbrush & cheap white toothpaste (micro-sanding made easy), cleaned everything with hot soapy water & a good rinse, and let all the pieces except for the head sculpt soak in dark navy Rit Synthetic Dye for 24 hours. I finished the head while my other parts were soaking in the dye. IMHO, this is the quickest & easiest way to make a Question figure.
I airbrush & paint by hand too. I still hit the figure with a thin topcoat of midnight blue. I painted all of the areas that needed it black (gloves, tie, & shoes). I used a medium blue paint wash on the already navy-dyed trenchcoat, then built up layers of royal blue by dry-brushing over that. I let everything cure for about 48 hrs, added a clear satin topcoat, and reassembled the figure. I could've eliminated most of those steps and just painted the figure, but I'm OCD. You can also make a Question figure wearing urban street armor under his trenchcoat by using a Red Hood figure (wearing a jacket/jacket arms) or either of the 2 different versions of the Death Metal Batman (black or brown trenchcoat). Add the Hush trenchcoat & arms over any of these figures in place of the coat they have on now. The only drawback with using Bat-figures is getting rid of the chest emblem & the other bat-shaped items. Then you can either sculpt the Question's head using Red Hood's helmeted head, or order a custom 3-D printed one.
I bet that Question turned out amazing!
much prefer without music :)
That seems to be the consensus. That's how I'll do it going forward. Thanks!
Plan to do injustice gods among us characters in the future?
I've thought about it, but none of the characters really inspired me. I tend to be lukewarm on dark versions of Superman, even when they're well done.
Dude!!! that was pretty cool. Lots of sculping this time and definitely an off the books figure to take on. Is always an inspiration to see your videos. Thank you for that. About the music I think is fine without it. Seems to be clearer and more natural.
I Can't Stand Music During Tutorials Or Other Types Of Videos Similar To This One
Thanks for the comment! I think this is how I'm going to do them from here on out.
I want to make a custom 1/12 michael myers figure and I have the 2018 retro cloth micheal myers head neca and the halloween ll retro cloth michael myers head neca. I need a figure that would fit with the head I'm looking at the Notaman figure but I don't know of the neck piece would work fine with the heads any suggestions
What line is the Notaman figure from?
So, I have a suggestion you can take or leave, but it’s just something I discovered worked really well for a custom I did. This can work for any future project of yours where you want to achieve a dingy or battle-worn look.
What I did was, sprayed the whole entire figure in black primer. Then, I progressively dry-brushed over with my desired base color (in my case, olive green). Finally, I painted any small details normally over that. The end result looked drop-dead phenomenal.
That's a great idea. I've thought about doing, but now I definitely will. Thanks again!
This figure NEVER skips quad day. THICC in the thighs.
😆
A for effort!! For myself I would of used an already made hat.
I haven't been able to find any. Where should I look? I want to do an Inspector Gadget and I need a hat for that one too.
Your work is always exceed my expectation this is brilliant!! I saw some people use Constantine or Hush body buck but this is quite solid as well great video 😃👍 About the music, I prefer without music. It makes me more concentrate the video but the music in intro I love it that feels like signature sound of your youtube channel 😄
Thanks so much! It seems like 'no music' beyond the intro is definitely preferred, so that's what I'm doing from now on.
Have you ever thought about making a Mr majestic? I’m working on one myself but love seeing how you make these characters
That's a good idea. I did a Grifter that I haven't posted yet and I tried to make him more of a classic 90's version. It didn't turn out as well as I wanted, but doing a Majestic or a Spartan would be a lot of fun since I love those characters.
i uses the same guy from 7 deadly sins to do my aquaman custom
Have you posted the video yet? I'd love to see what that looked like.
@superheumann yes its on my you tube page
