    So I have both cards and here's what I think:
    Platinum > Aspire only if you can use at least $695 of the credits that you usually spend on it anyways. Depends also if your home airport actually has these centurion or any lounge access. For example, Newark airport has nada and it sucks so I actually end up flying out of JFK to use these lounges. Also do you usually travel alone or with a huge family? If your traveling alone or with a partner then lounge access is easy to justify. But if you have a family of 4+ and they don't have lounge access, then it might be more difficult unless you're okay paying a fee for each person. Being in NY though, its easier to justify the platinum because I can go to the only Centurion Lounge restaurant in 1 Vanderbilt (Anthony fly here and try it out: Not cheap at all but worth the experience) and NY also has one of the bigger airports (JFK). *From Anthony's old video*: I also keep the platinum for any emergencies outside of the US: medical, legal, financial or anything bad, it gives me a little peace of mind that AMEX actually can help in someway.
    Why the Aspire?: I decided to get the Aspire without the welcome offer (was in popup jail) because I travel to Asia a ton and let me tell you, being a Hilton diamond member over there is 1000% much better than the US. They treat you like a true VIP and upgrade you to the best suites available + random things like free wine/spirits (instead of a free bottled water at check in). Let alone give you late check out of up to 4PM, sometimes 5PM depending on your location. Also hotel's in my area (NYC) are so pricey, usually >$500/night which makes the free certificate pretty much cover the annual fee of the aspire. A little plus for the clear credit is that I use the platinum clear for me and the aspire clear for my gf.
    Little tip for newer diamond members: Call the Hilton Diamond Desk and ask them to put in a request for a room upgrade upon check in. I use this a lot because for the life of me, I get so nervous when I ask 😅😂. I've been upgraded every time both in the US and Asia. Haven't tried Europe yet.
    In conclusion, I actually value these 2 cards pretty evenly just because of my spending and life habits. End of the day, I get more value out of both the cards annual fees by at least $300+.
    Love the videos as always Anthony!

      I have both as well for a family of 3. I’ve already gotten so much value out of these cards. The only credit I’m not using is Peleton! Lounge access has been great considering what we would pay for food and drink at an airport cafe. It justifies spending $30 for my child’s access as I would have spent for a Carl’s Jr. chicken nugget meal for my child and gives us a comfortable place to relax. As for the Aspire card I’ve used Diamond member status and have amassed 4 Free Night Certificates (Hilton Honors, Surpass, Aspire and earning one after spending 30k on the Surpass card. These were accumulated during their Welcome Bonus Points plus Free Night Certificate promotion that ended 7/19/23). We’re taking an aspirational travel trip to Anguilla staying at LXR, Zemi Beach House all on points and utilizing the 5th night free promotion. I’ve gotten so much value from these cards!

      Damnnn Victor I loved reading this! You really thought this through but the most fascinating part I’ve found, was you said that internationally commas were you found 1000% bitter experience being a diamond member. That pretty much confirms what I’ve thought and heard over the years, and a very very good data point to follow from your experience!
      That’s pretty awesome that you get upgraded fairly often too.

    I switched from Platinum to Aspire and Surpass Combo. Got sick of chasing benefit and clipping coupons on Platinum that I wouldn’t have used otherwise. You can get a chunk of the streaming credit back with Blue Preferred. Funny thing is that I would always be converting AMEX points to Hilton Honors points, so just so much easier to go for the combo and 350K in points and benefits of both cards.

    I have had diamond status organically now since 2021 and you’re right that it’s not much. I did get a suite upgrade recently and think it helps, but you will likely need to ask still. I think where your logic relies on is whether you can use the FNC effectively and whether you really value lounge access. Using the FNC for a hotel with a cash price of $381 is leaving money on the table as you could be using that for a stay at a $1,000+/night Conrad or Waldorf, but of course that’s only valuable if you really would stay there. The platinum makes more sense for most people, although the Aspire may show a higher net annual fee as you could milk it for a $1,000 night and if you can use the credits

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agreed and kudos to organic Diamond Wright!
      Yes I think that’s very true, really depends on where you’ll realistically be able to use that FNC.
      Personally I know I can squeeze out at least that $350-$400 hotel stay but maybe not everyone, and I’m also missing out on $1k+ so there’s always that as you said.

    Love the comparison here Anthony! I'd definitely like to add both of these Cards as part of my end-game strategy at some point despite the high annual fees. However, if I had to pick only one, I think I'd go with the Amex Plat just for the higher flexibility and being able to utilize Amex's travel partners, the best lounge access, etc. Of course though, you want to make sure the Credits & Benefits make sense organically, so if you are someone who frequently stays at Hilton Hotels for business, then understand why for some people the Aspire could make more sense. Great video as always!

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @Zenichiro
    @Zenichiro 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    On the $30K spend, you would also get a minimum of 3x HH points, or 90K along with the FNC. If you value the FNC at $500 and a point at half a cent, that would get you $500 + $450 = $950 in value as compared to $600. There is the catch that you have to use that value at a Hilton and enjoy staying at their luxury brands, though. YMMV.

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agreed on that!! I guess if you really only wanted to spend $30k on one card, Aspire all the way for sure!
      I would hope someone would get like 8 cards for that spend and get way better returns but I’m with you on that math beating the Platinum.
      Thanks Zenichiro!

    Currently own the Amex Gold. I travel 3 weeks a month and mostly stay in Hiltons. I’ll hit my SUB total in about a month so then my plan was to sign up for an Amex Platinum.
    The question is do I grab a Surpass or Aspire now to maximize Hilton points until I hit the SUB total for Gold then get the Platinum.

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I believe that welcome offer still lasts until mid January for the Hilton cards, so I would probably wait a couple of weeks, hit your welcome offer now on the gold, and then before the offer expires, apply for the Hilton cards.
      Also, it hasn’t happened yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they change the lifetime language, so that if you get the Aspire first, you will not be eligible for the Surpass welcome offer etc.
      Thanks Rick! Let me know what you decide to do!

    Lounges are great if you can actually use them. I have a TERRIBLE priority pass with practically no food at my home airport. Seems like majority of the time I fly through other airports with no lounges, lounges too far away in other terminals, or I just don't have time based on layover times. So a bit overrated but great the few times I could use them over the last year. I don't have the Aspire yet but if I can get past pop up jail I will have it eventually.
