absolutely. monicamary strigle, ny wealth-plannner has been advising on that. Gold, especially, has historically served as a hedge during market uncertainties. It's like a safe haven.

Gold and silver tend to act as a hedge when traditional markets are turbulent.
Buy assets when they are hated and sell when they are loved. People hating on silver past performance but the debt is hitting a big uphill and much silver used not recycled.

The problem with chart analysis on a manipulated product like silver is that you don't have real feedback on whats really happening. You have to "read between" the data and cross reference with a multitude of other data to get a truer understanding.
I still stack both silver and gold and always will.

@rlcarbo 😄 haha...my ratio is almost 100 to zero like Maloney. Luckily I've made millions of dollars by being invested in cryptocurrencies since April of 2013, soon after bitcoin achieved prices above an ounce of 999 Ag at that time. Enough was enough back then. Now I am 50 and pretty much retired.

A 10 year cup and handle? I'm no expert but I don't think timelines this long count. (Silver is looking decent right now though, especially consider no big pullback has come yet, the longer it hangs out here the better.)
How about the Gold Platinum Ratio. Platinum keeps getting cheaper and is barely over $900 an ounce. It used to cost way more than gold and I am told it is much more rare compared to gold.
I think plat may be a good buy because Russia is selling a lot rn to help them with their economy. when Russia stops selling so much plat the price should shoot up. plat is cheap rn but you have to remember gold and silver are more monetary than plat
The US/China silver price suggests that the appetite for paper silver is waning. Comex is dying.

I’m a cynic on silver pricing. Just too many disappointments - but I’m also a technical investor which helps to remove any emotional attachment to investing in PMs. Bottom line is crypto has taken some of the demand for PMs off the table. Gold has most of the focus so it has moved up. We’re going to need a run to safety if epic proportions for silver to move up sharply.

People who doubt gold ,silver and crypto , clearly are not paying close attention to the geo political and monetary events unfolding and evolving around the world, for if they did, they would be rapidly stacking and counting their lucky stars that they had the knowladge to keep them 3 steps infront of real time.
Crypto is an app for exchanging fiat. It’s worth its weight in gold and silver.

I'd like to believe that the metals, especially silver will rise substantially, but with the manipulation, most money going into Bitcoin, the stock market or real estate, patience wears thin.
I will trade the G/S ratio if or when it's favorable as silver can become a storage issue.
It might do quite well, but indeed Bitcoin will likely crush it.
Following you 10 years Mike. It's been hard at times but our time is near. Picked up some really cheap G&S stocks January and February.

I love you'r videos and thanks for sharing. I have been trading crypto and other assets for 7-8 years now. I have done my home work on TA nad charts. I no longer listen to anyone i do my won TA. I will only point one thing out, that TA are just lines on a chart and have to be combined with volume,fundementals and more. No TA or indicators can garanty a up or down trend. I agree if the US dollar colaps now and if BRICS create a new currency + more banks gong under we will see a huge move in both #Gold and #Silver. But listening to TH-cam channels that only hype up both metals i think that is wrong. And i will teach everyone here a lesson. Learn you'r own TA and start with support/resistance and work on to trend lines and breakouts. If you lear this you have learnd alot. Not forget that volume is the most important indicator driving all assets to new highs. Learn you'r own TA nad not listening to others. When you get there trading is so much more fun. Most want to get rich over night and not care about anything. Knowing you'r TA is like going in to a boxing match over prepared when you'r aponent haven't traind at all.
From my understanding of technical analysis, silver does not have a valid cup and handle pattern because the "handle" dropped far too low.
Yes of course, ina free market silver would explode, but this is not a free market…it’s highly controlled.

Yes it's control by fiat currency.
Hard to say. People were saying 10-15 years ago that the "control" is very close to ending. However, the ratio of paper silver to physical silver on the exchanges is simply huge, so every ounce of paper has the power to move many ounces of physical. I think the ratio is close to 30:1. So, even if say retail demand would go up by 50%, that's only a ~1.5% problem for the paper market.@@user-yn7ll3qz1p

Mike, I would have liked a more in-depth explanation as to how you trade (buy silver or gold) based on the silver gold ratio. For example, you said that the silver gold ratio caused you to buy silver and it worked out to be really good. What was good about it?
If someone else just simply bought silver, and it happened to be at the same time(s) you were buying silver, how would that person perceive that their purchases turned out to be good, given that they might not have been paying attention to gold silver ratios? Wouldn’t that person just compare their silver purchase to the silver price as to how well they did?

Good thought. On the other hand, tiny market, big manipulation, essential strategic metal, more likely to be too cheap and it has to break out somewhere. I thought I saw whole families, so it could be the weekend, and they take turns holding place in line? I will say this: as a former theatre manager, it might be past time to let the back of the line know they are going to sell out. Or, just raise the price to dampen demand.
Silver seems an unlikely market to manipulate higher.

keith neumeyer says that he can get silver out of the ground for $16 / Oz Times that x 8 for the gold to silver mining ratio you have $128 silver mining costs vs $1300 average cost to mine an Oz gold. I thought this was extremely interesting and goes a long way to explaining the crazy ratio 85 to 1. If silver ever get scarce can you see something that costs $16 be worth $200? Just maybe silver is exactly fairly priced compared to gold. The problem i have seen for decades is that there seems to be unlimited supply of silver. We have supposedly had a mining deficit for decades yet it never fails to supply all the industrial / momentary demand. What gives? what am i missing?
You are missing inflation, especially energy inflation. Markets anticipate inflation and don't wait for it to happen and inflation is based on the devaluation/printing of currencies.

@@minaminx Yes it is. The cost of mining is based on energy prices. The main cost of mining is the amount of energy used to extract the silver. Mining is very energy intensive. As the cost of energy increases, so does the cost to extract silver from the earth.
The question is if silver rally starts soon, and we are think that a large scale recession is coming, how low can silver go in the recession? Would you think about selling in the rally and buy in the recession?
most of the Chinese in these massive lineups cannot afford much gold. The average person in China is not rich at all. It does paint a great picture for the silver and gold rush though. People should have around 20k in silver and gold right now, vaulted. It will be worth far, far more than that when the market tanks. Bitcoin and other good crypto investments will pay handsomely too.
2007 market crash may have been a biggie but didn't leave working populations destitute like 1929 episode or high unemployment in early 1990ies. No stock market crash then in UK. It will be an unexpected event that will make everything unravel.

We are at maximum complexity saturation. I can not get more complex than it is now. Complexity has outpaced technology. AI and HFT/CTA are not going to sustain this paradigm very much longer.
I would say the cup is much more massive from 1980 till 2011 and the handle from 2011 till now😀

I think it's safe to say, that when the dealers all run out of silver, and the price doesn't go up, that it's rigged by paper shorting. But hold on to your hat.

interesting, if silver is $16 dollars / ounce to mine and gold $1300 / ounce that equates to 81 to 1 gold to silver ratio which is just about where we are. There was me thinking we should be at an 8 to 1 ratio with silver at £281 / oz.
I believe that when silver price rises to a point where stackers are willing to sell their stack, not all silver will be sellable. I believe that “cheap” Bullion will become impossible to sell. There will be too many people trying to sell all at once. There will be an overwhelming amount of silver that will be put back into the market, and refiners will stop buying. I would bet that only Government issued bullion will be sellable when the price approaches 3 figures. Beware.
Why? Based on what? Silver is silver. During a price run up, I believe that government minted silver will be a small disappointment compared to generic silver bars and coins, as the most you’ll be paid will be based on spot regardless of the product. You’d profit less due to the up front premium you paid on government minted products.

when I first bought gold it was around $1100 an ounce, more than Bitcoin at the time. I would have been far, far better off buying Bitcoin.

Just think of the TONNAGE of silver held by silverbugs. Silver is inexpensive, so silverbugs stock up. Then think about how abundant silver actually is. Yes, I know your silver dealer says silver is scarce, but silver is literally everywhere. All mines no matter their focus, collect silver because it is just sitting there. Therefore silver is overabundant. So the price of silver will never goto the moon. The price of silver wont even hit $50 in our lifetimes. If you want a moonshot, then try crypto. I wouldnt recommend crypto, but people should know what is actually capable of a moonshot, and what isnt.

Chy-na economy is fine it's the Chinese stock market that is getting hammered by the US withdrawing investment as punishment for China De-dollarization and refusing to buy US bonds.
Don't confuse stock market with the actual economy.

silver is the worst investment of the last decade. in fact, it's always been that way. the only two times it reached close to 50, it quickly crashed down right after. it has never had a sustained strong price. gold, however, has and will continue to.

Understand this well. Same. Your xrp holdings 'should' rise after the upcoming bull-run start in April. Between then and closer to winter consider selling at some point. Use that realized gain to pay bills. Try not to sell your metals. Good luck!
I've been in this market for 15 years, listened to experts, and I'm about 40% down. Made a few good trades, but overall I'm down. The biggest mistake I made was not buying more dividend stocks. I could have built a better base, and used the spare casfhlow (if not needed) to buy metal. My goal was to make more money faster with PM stocks and re-invest in dividends. Things are lining up pretty good however for the metals now, and if you look at history, it does not have to take long for these things to turn around and move substantially. However, remember that metals are only a store of wealth, not vehicles to make money/get rich. Metal stocks can do that, but are tricky. Good luck (to both of us!).

Y our "rules about buying silver vs. gold is too OCD. I buy metals for wealth preservation. I don't try to be too cute about it. I buy what I want to buy. No ratio tells me or "allows" me to do what I do. That being said...Gold IS money.
