- Orange in Bloom/Sherborne Waltz played on G/D/F Anglo Concertina while sailing Thames Barge Pudge up the river Blackwater. the barge in the background is TSB Centaur. Filmed while crewing the barge back from Clacton to Maldon, managed to find a moment on a long tack to get the Concertina out and make this video. you can hear the rudder creaking quite loud since the camera was right next to it.

I am a Navy veteran. This video makes me very emotional. It reminds me of the open ocean, surrounded by nothing but water and stars on all sides. The fear and anguish I experienced.
I am grateful to God every day that I survived. I made it home. And that’s what this video sounds like to me. Standing on solid ground once again after weeks at sea.
Lovely tune, great playin'!! Thanks 🙂
Well played. One of my all time favourites! It can take all manner of improvisation; Everything works!! There is also a Sherborne Morris stance tune with virtually the same notes but played much more staccato. if you're in a session you've got to be clear about which one you are doing because they're not really compatible with each other 😉 Mr son-in-law George has been crewing on those Thames barges, for about 10 years incidentally. 🎵 load the boat for the last time, unfurl red-stained rigging and sail 🎵
Lovely tune & sound, plus the creaking of the ship 👍
Love your left hand work. Very hymn-like. Beautiful setting, too!
Beautiful playing, dude. 56 button though, that is one HEFTY instrument
So beautiful
Beautiful, thanks Sonny! I’m a button accordionplayer but got a (cheap) concertina last week.
It’s a nice compact instrument 😊
This is the perfect video, beautifully set and played. Fair winds and following seas friend
Keep hitting replay. Lovely music.
Perfeito..... adorei.... música, músico, cenário... tudo perfeito.
Lovely music ,lovely picture well done Sonny👏👏👏
Love this! I am going to be learning to play and I am so excited!
How many buttons does your concertina have, because it seems quite big. Amazing scenery and great song!
It has 56 buttons, 4 rows (F,D,G Accidentals) then some extra notes dotted around and a D drone! It was made as a Duet then converted to anglo by Collin Dipper.
@@sonnybrazilmusic159 Oh okay what exactly is the diffrence between a duet and a anglo concertina? Because i thought duet was like an anglo with more buttons.
A Duet concertina has the same note on push and pull but lower notes on the left hand and higher notes on the right, as opposed to the english system which is same note on push and pull but the scale alternates from left to right. Anglo is different note on push and pull
@@sonnybrazilmusic159 I just bough a Anglo, I want to get into playing one of these, hearing anglo is different push pull would you say its harder for a beginner?
What one is easier for a beginner?
Why would you want anglo vs others?
What is the name of that concertina? and is that a 40 button?
How did you end up on this ship?! : D Nice playing :>
Ótimo vídeo ! em qual loja vc comprou e qual é o modelo
That's a fine looking, fine sounding box. Tell me about it?
Just have to ask, what sort of ship am I seeing here? And does it have a TH-cam channel?
That's a Thames Barge, probably on the River Colne, Essex.
