    Having the sheep higher so you don't have to bend over to work them is a real back saver. I really like that about this handling system.

    Any device that saves you wrestling with the sheep is a good thing. Once the sheep are used to a race, they will be a lot less stressed. Hope you can get more land. 😊👍

    That set up looks to be a good stepping stone, once you have bulk numbers going to your tapari with all the data collection is the go, can stay sharp on what all the sheep are doing and snowball improvements. Just load up with as much ground and sheep as you can. I’d even consider setting up a small finishing unit. Have you considered selling your own organic lamb or mutton? Your stock have a great story and with your social reach it would work. Take the orders, and take a big batch on a few times a year into get done.

    I reckon a set up like this is the go for you mate, the easier the work the more you can do (well that’s how you’ll end up😅) once you pick your race, you can easy do a bit of set up at your blocks for holding yards or paddocks. A fence from the end of your wing fence into the yards across to the road would give you a handy holding paddock or 2 right there.

    Before you buy try Tepari first. The sheep walk out instead of drop out.

    • @Salomaeful
      @Salomaeful 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Doesn't the Tepari require an air compressor to work? What about a generator?
      I like this bit of kit because it's simple and should be easier to maintain

    Nice squeeze chute setup, everything being done up higher, and as you say way easier on the body. Also liked how it stacked on its own trailer. What brand is that, I couldn't catch it? Irish made?
    If you're going to expand to 500 head then I'd think labor savings becomes a real concern.

    • @EweTubeIreland

      A Cotter Crate it's called. An Irish family business are making them which is a selling point for me too. 👌

      @JHruby 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@EweTubeIreland I think you need a slightly customized EewTube Hill Farmer version of the Cotter Crate. The top edge needs to be extended and curved or flared outwards so it does not hook the horns. The drop mechanism needs a dampener so when you hit the eject button, the chute opens slowly to allow the sheep to be supported by a slowly opening gate as they slide down like a children's slide rather than being dropped suddenly.

    Great video Organic farming is challenging interesting about the TePari didn’t know about the drop 😂 it is always connected to a race in the other vlogs Can’t see sheep appreciating a drop like that Good on you for easing her drop. Would think that over time or with a large herd having to do that, the Te Pari would be less useful Or your back might think so

    It’s a good piece of kit,,
    Invest would depend on time v cost
    You would have saved on time which is a cost
    Also in hardship saving is a cost and a value in helping the body
    You would have to see how many lambs plus time saving would v cost of kit

    I was chatting with a guy recently who has had this set-up for the past 4 or 5 years.
    He's finding it more and more difficult to get sheep into it, as they don't like being dropped down.

    • @EweTubeIreland

  • @JohntyNich
    @JohntyNich 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’d say invest for the future, time flies and before you know it you’ll be a few years down the line wondering wishing you’d done it earlier. If you are confident you will have help it does give you more flexibility on the system. I’m guessing pro’s are cheaper, no need for a generator or battery system, little to break. The battery IfarmWeFarm showed today could be a game changer for this sort of thing. Cons seem to be it’s not ideal for horns and potentially trapping fingers saving horns and needing more staff.
    Having wool in footbaths seems to really improve flow. Could it be used in the race? Don’t think they would ever flow like a TePari but it might help.
    I get the extra land but not sure pushing for more twins and then taking twins off the hill would be more profitable than having cross breeds off the hill flock crossed to a terminal and any twins but as few as possible.
