We decided to follow the advice laid out by John and Phyllis from their excellent blog Attainable Adventure Cruising - www.morganscloud.com/2010/09/12/anchor-swivels/ The summary is that we've eliminated a failure point (the break loads on swivels are pretty small compared to rest of the system) and have not encountered a problem either setting or hauling the anchor. We do have a line on the crown of the anchor to help get it straight when hauling. - Stu

But that Bruce was so shiny!! Did you keep the Bruce as a back up or stern anchor?
It was super shiny! I sold it on eBay a few months later, so it has found a new home. We have a fortress as a backup / kedge.
