  • Mads MIKKELSEN was born in Copenhagen on November 22, 1965.
Staring out as a gymnast, he danced professionally for almost 10 years before embarking on an acting career, training at Århus Theatre School in Århus.
Mads Mikkelsen keeps establishing a solid reputation since his start in Denmark (with films like " Pusher" or TV series "Unit 1" / "Rejseholdet") and reached international recognition with films like ""Casino Royale", The Hunt" (Jagten), "Another Round" (Druk), and TV series like "Hannibal" and "A Royal Affair".
In this video the Danish actor shares some of his process and insight on film making:
► the discipline of his background
    ► audition advices
    ► looking for duality
► what you carry back home
► what qualifies as a hard scene
    ► actor vs character
    ► preparing
► leading the audience into frustration to leave with questions in "The Hunt”
And if you haven't seen JAGTEN (The Hunt) by Thomas Virtenberg yet, find it, watch it not for the faint of heart but truthful, important and questioning! And on top of it, the acting is superb!
    AWARDS:
2020 - Best Actor - European Film Award for “noter Round” (Druk)
2014 - Best Actor - Cannes Film Festival for “The Hunt” (Jagten)
2002 - Best Actor - International Emmy for “Unit 1” (Rejseholdet)

There are many good points that he brought up in regards to preparing for a role vs method acting. So many actors have taken nosedives after having a character “take over” themselves.
In regards to The Hunt, it evoked so many emotions and pulled me in. I felt joy , sadness, repulsion, anger and fear. Oddly enough , I’m in the States, but I’ve never had much of a taste for American films . They are too polished and are “mostly” made for bringing money in. They are over censored, botched and lack empathy . The Hunt was beautifully put together, wonderfully directed and Mads did a fantastic job at putting such a believable character out there. Kudos to all that were involved.
I never once had the thought of Lucas getting a lawyer!
