I still own a nokia 105. It's great to live without a smartphone guys. The world around you is much bigger than 3 or 4 swipeable inches! The only moment when it is irritating is when i'm at work and everybody looks at their phone during lunch. I created a game for myself in these times wich i like to call 'throw stuff at peoples heads untill they are completely irritated.'
I've ordered one and will sell my android because i want to disconnect from the matrix (pun intended), the world is addicted to smart phones and no1 has realised yet but look at the zombies walking into you in the city. its scary how happy we are to waste our lives rubbing a piece of glass so im curious if you can actually live without a smart phone in 2019 :/ RIP
It's extremely difficult to find like minded people for me. I've sold my galaxy S9 and got one of these. I have a tablet if i want to watch some youtube or listen to some music but apart from that I've fully disconnected from social media etc.
@@victorchernev5162 Nokia X2-00 was my last feature phone. It was difficult to live with in the smartphone era. I used to flex the 5megapixel camera, dedicated camera and media buttons.
I think it's awesome to see manufacturers coming out with these new low-spec feature phones with KaiOS. I'm certain we'll see a resurgence of these types of devices under a few conditions. Google Voice Assistant so you don't have to rely on T9 so much. Proper GPS. And a solid high-def camera. Add that and you have a true winner. Given the fact that even Google has put $22 million to back the development of KaiOS is proving that these types of phones will become a contender again. I'm looking forward to the CAT B35 :-)
Have you tried using the hot.spot for it? Is it good, does the phone gets hot in a couple of hours using it as a mobile hot.spot, is there any maximum number of people that can connect in the hot.spot? Planning to buy one for my travels outside my country.
All I want is an 8310 remake with it looking indentical to the original only with a decent snapper, pinsharp colour screen, WiFi and some proper apps like Spotify, WhatsApp and TH-cam.
This is a great phone. It covers the middle ground between smartphone and regular phone. It is also very stylish and easily customizable. BUT: If they used a somewhat better camera (like 8MP) and implemented some very basic smart features such as copying a link or being able to send a voice message, nothing too complicated, then the phone would sell like crazy.
I was actually looking at this as an upgrade to my current Nokia 216 (as Virgin are completely withdrawing support for 2g network phones in 2 weeks.) This was really helpful, and Im now looking forward to reliving the 90's with the Matrix banana.
I was born in 2000 so I'm not really old enough to remember the original version of this phone. But it still gives me that nostalgic feeling and I really want this new version! I love the features and specs this phone has! 4G, 512MB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 CPU, Google Assistant, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, sliding keypad cover, app store, IP52 protection, 480P video recording (Most feature phones only record in 240P so this is a step up) and loads more! This is all pretty high-end stuff for a feature phone and I really want this phone for it's novelty nostalgia and it's features which to be honest, I would be OK to live with (Apart from the camera). I currently have a BlackBerry Keyone because I like it's specs and the touch sensitive Keyboard. No it's not as good as the Samsung Galaxy S9 but it's perfectly fine for me and I love the keyboard and camera quality which is the main reason I got it. However recently, I've found I'm starting to get a little bit bored of it now and I'm having some issues with it getting very hot and the headphone jack now only plays through the left channel and I just get a lot of hiss through the right channel. I know I can get a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter but I don't really want to do that. I just want to downgrade to the Nokia 8110 4G because I want to simplify things and focus more on what's going on around me than keeping my eyes on my BlackBerry Keyone all the time. I'll still get the features I want but I'll be more focused on the real world (And I just love the design of the Nokia 8110 4G and it will go really well with all of the retro stuff I have at home). I will probably keep my BlackBerry Keyone just for the camera as I can't really live with the camera quality on the Nokia 8110 4G.
I mean, I was born when the Nokia 1100 was released in 2003 but I defently gonna buy the Nokia 8110 just because. It seams so satisfying to have it with you as a phone. My first phone did I got in 2011 and it was a “Sony Ericsson Experia “ from 2010 and it hade a touchscreen but it was a very small phone and screen obviously. It also had a physical keyboard hidden behind the screen so that was kinda cool.
i read a comment from a guy who could't write a msg. Dude...i'm going to laugh a lot with the people around me. This phone is a compact disc (not even a cassette tape because there are adaptions for todays needs) in an mp3 world...Love it !!!
Mine came with Thai lettering on the keys as well as English. I was surprised, had no idea it would come like that, so I wasn't thrilled about that. It looks great but it isn't supported by Verizon which is my provider. There are a lot of providers that aren't supported on this phone so if you're thinking of buying it, make sure that your provider supports this phone first.
Got the iPhone, getting the Note 9 soon and I’m *definitely* buying this! 😂 I had the original and it’s a decent enough throwback. Thanks for the video. Just subscribed.
Anyone else not enjoying their banana phone as much as they had hoped? It doesn't seem finished yet, unlike older Nokias there is no shortcuts to anything using the Navi key, no adding words to the T9 dictionary, adding reminders to the calendar is more complicated like a modern android phone, no way to completely back out to the idle screen with 1 key press, not as fast as old S30+ with that animation going on. The keypad also seems a bit too small. I put my SIM back in my old Nokia for now and see if a firmware update can fix it.
Knuckles the Echidna dame workings as the 3210 4g. Total crap with no shortcuts, no adding words to t9 , shame as these 2 problems are what was great about old Nokia’s. Why did they spoil new Nokia’s !!!!???
Knuckles the Echidna the short cut key is the main issue no backup with one press of a button, this phone is a total disaster I have the black model and it's so easy to scratch I'd say definitely avoid this phone apart from the slide design I'd avoid it until the firmware update to see if it fix's anything
Holy shit WAP had been totally erased from my memory. The only thing holding me back from going full candy bar phone is the camera. I would quite happily wait till after work to use my iPad for everything else.
There are more people out there that would love nothing more than to disconnect from the constant stream of notifications than you think. This one is even too connected for my taste. No social media, text call with superb sound quality like BB used to have, camera like a Pixel 3a, good music player and navigation, month long battery life, a rugged and waterproof yet elegant exterior and I say shut up and take my money! Phones should be tools. Nothing more. Not some addiction inducing thing.
Hey Chris, have you tried driving with it? Does Google maps provide accurate, turn by turn instructions? I am very intrigued about getting off the smart phone addiction and insistent upgrade cycle, but just love google maps.

I just switched to a flip phone, and T9 texting comes back to you pretty fast if you were "born with it" lol. Also, this phone is $121 in Canada. We're getting hosed on the price compared to EU and UK :(
It's a shame the version of the 8110 used in the Matrix was the only one with the spring loaded keypad cover. Also, I never really got why Nokia went along with that move but my guess is either a Warner Brothers exec thought it'd look cool or the Wachowskis thought it would look cool.
I might get this phone because of rampant crimes inside our failling public transportation in my country (Philippines) so I can leave my Note9 at home and away from pickpockets and robbers when I have to take public transport. I have to use pricey ride-sharing services so that my Note9 is safe.

Im 25 years old and I hate smartphones, I use n95 8gb as my daily drivers since it came out, right now its pretty useless when browsing web (opera mobile, and original browser no longer opens pages, and opera mini suck) and watching youtube is impossible nearlly... I wanted to buy 3310 but that phone seemed futureless, I can play games and listen to music on my n95 still... This kaiOS phone looks like just the right phone for me... hope it gets more apps support, dont have facebook and social media acc but I hope some games and other apps will come out for it soon
You meant B35? Maybe I should, but cats arent reliable as they say they are, I work in the forest and had cat B25 and it broke only half a year, battery closer broke and water got inside... everything was well made on the phone except that part...
bought CAT B35, have a few issues with it, unlike nokia 8110 4G it doesnt seem to have shortcuts to wifi or settings (or I cant find it) wich sucks since you allways need to go to menu, menu seems slugish, browser tends to crash or mouse gets lost, no tabs. It can crash on some downloaded apps too. also you cant hold button to get numbers like on old phones and thats slows down your writing... it lacks apps, there are only twitter and weather and few games... while browsing there seems to be no way to make it full screen... all of those seems to be software issues that can be fixed, im waiting for updates as the phone seems to be the right phone for me hopefully after many updates
I just bought one. I hope they make an audiobook app, it's hard to listen to podcasts and books with music app. Menus are somewhat mixed up, it would be better if they used the old SonyEricsson logic. But it has potential.
@glitchingsteamroller Audio is decent, but the phone is still lacking proper software for listening to music. It's a shame, since it feels like a half-baked product, and it could have been so much more...

I got the 8110 for about a month now. As my second phone (for work number) It’s a nice gimmick but for everyday use not that great. The call log keeps crashing the phone. Bluetooth in my car (2016 Volkswagen) keeps asking for permission and i have to turn on visibility every time in order to get it connected.
Also I have Galaxies Iphones Xiaomi Huawei...Many others brands.Nokia Windows 523 is Weak but Ayasha is quite good first Android Nokia better than others.

To alter the volume within TH-cam, just press up or down on the Navi key. No need to go to settings.

KaiOS seems to have some pretty good features considering. The likes of remote wiping etc definitely impressive!
The best part of the matrix phone was push button to open and answer calls. Why not incorporate that into the revamped model

It works with google cloud services, so you can synchronize like any smartphone... one of the reasons form me to buy it :)

Music options? Do you have to load up some mp3s onto a SD card and will it run said files?
Please remember to do your latest software update on Nokia 8110 and reset your phone so it works.

I just bought one. I hope they make an audiobook app, it's hard to listen to podcasts and books with music app. Menus are somewhat mixed up, it would be better if they used the old SonyEricsson logic. But it has potential.

@glitchingsteamroller Audio is decent, but the phone is still lacking proper software for listening to music. It's a shame, since it feels like a half-baked product, and it could have been so much more...

Hi all, I've just purchased the famous 'banana phone' - the Nokia 8110 4G. I can't for the life of me find a proper, permanent screen protector; it all seems to be plastic peel-off ones. Can anyone point me in the direction of a proper, non-disposable screen guard that will fit it?

You could try cutting a permanent plastic screen protector from a smartphone.
I got the 8110 for about a month now. As my second phone (for work number) It’s a nice gimmick but for everyday use not that great. The call log keeps crashing the phone. Bluetooth in my car (2016 Volkswagen) keeps asking for permission and i have to turn on visibility every time in order to get it connected.
