For a couple of decades I "lived to eat". As a child Pop was quite available in my dad's & his partners post WWII tv & appliance, electronic repair in shop/or at home, AND auto FARM mechanic business of 20+ years. So there was great COMFORT DAD sentiment for me toward Dr Pepper. All that made me like it was sugar and it was made with prunes, good for me. Even canned spinach liked due to Popeye. 34:24 For a dime dropped in the old chest type pop machine of the late 1950's/early 60's, one could buy pop slide out system out of a machine delivered in a 12 oz bottle. It was a treat at least once a week and now it is in bigger containers of 2 quart plastic bottles, glass, and aluminum cans. It can be a daily 44oz treat much more often.
About 2 years ago I started an abrupt change. I decided after my regular weight of 225 pounds as a 5'6" woman people wouldn't have guessed I weighed that much as I was told by a health check professional at school that I was well proportioned. After I lost my first 20 pounds due to a week of home bound covid, I got motivated to 34:24 l get my nutrition from one meal a day when I got hungry. I lived by myself as my 2 children are on their own as adults in one northern state and the other a populous region of my state. I usually get hungry the same time of day and eat the meal between 4pm- 6pm It got easier and easier to "eat to live" instead of "live to eat". I would drive to a grocery store (in my 50 mpg Toyota) that had variety of American and oriental food & bakery. I would buy a pint of broccoli and beef- no rice, for $5.99 that had onions, carrots, various veggies in my favorite choice behind the glass. Day old crispy croissants were my treat. I bought hot dogs as a treat for the stray cats who came to stay, but I didn't buy much processed food for my self. I am now down to 165-70 pounds. When I vIsit my kids I will have what they cook or serve, I free them of the breakfast and lunch commitment unless they squeak too much. It is ok to be varied, permit your self a treat or variance due to wish or circumstance but, if it works for you like it does for me - your gut will have so much relief you won't want to go back to old habits. I eat enough to eaze family fear that I will starve.
I have regular Doctor visits since my blood pressure & meds is managed much better now. I get metabolism blood test to monitor possible liver BP med side effects. Results have been normal. So has Mr BP readings. I take a daily vitamin/ mineral tablet for women over 50. It is a very easy way to get the unnecessary weight off but don't rush. Don't be rigid, but don't allow your self too much ease, so that you start "living to eat-(over eating)". Run your plan often called periodic fasting to your doc before you start. Also when you take medicine try to drink a whole glass or 8-10 oz bottle of water in 15- 20 minutes to keep your pills moving down your food tube to your stomach. It usually takes 8 minutes for a bolus of food to reach your stomach.
You don't want what ever pills you take to rest in your Esophagus due to the eroding of the walls of your esophagus depending on pill ingredients.
I worked as an Occupational Therapist and a patient I knew had erosion of his esophagus at the level of his heart area which caused him difficulty much later in his life. Good luck getting in unbrain washed from long term processed food advertising designed for "shelf life" and not the human bio system "life of self" care.
