The British way of dropping a mine shaft in to dig a shallow hole place a flat steel ring and the concrete sleeve on top of it. Mine under the ring and let gravity do the work. Excavating sandy soil without proper shoring up is extremely dangerous. Add cement to the top of the ring and a concrete ring to the top, keep mining under the steel support at the bottom. At a set level introduce a pipe and pump to drain the ground water so you can excavate to a deeper level once the required depth obtained climb out and stop the pump a d remove the pipe.
This is a very nice project, I'm enjoying watching. Looking forward to the next part of this work.

Super dangerous when you get over your head and especially when ground water starts coming in. I figured she was going to dig inside of a ring and as it settles and you get deeper, stack on another ring.
That was my same thought as well, when they did the way that they did I kept thinking, not safe, not safe specially when he hit the ground water.
It’s left me wondering how they are going to get the rings in place. What they have rigged up will not hold the rings to lower them down.

Cool to see symmetric digging...alternating left and right handed stance...surprisingly difficult for those not ambidextrous.

Double/multibucket technique to eliminate waiting for bucket when down in hole.
Bucket line (if more people available) as heaviest thing being moved is people (who move the buckets), but that would likely make the digger the limiting factor.
Bucket drainage holes to avoid energy of lifting water out of hole.
Stand on plank when raising bucket rather than edge to reduce risk of side cave ins.
Not so much a thing everywhere, but heavy things overhead call for a hard hat. Hole wide enough to raise bucket on side and avoiding being over the digger...but still.
Very much individually dependant, but high leg:arm strength ratio is more ideal for digging and the opposite for bucket lifting.
You don't find that many hard-working, self-sufficient, people like this couple in the US. There are a few, but not many.
The problem where I live, the north east of England, we had the ice age and when the glaciers started to melt all of the rocks dropped into my garden. It would take me years to dig a few metres. Remember, Measure twice dig once! Thank you for your video.

In my youth I dug wells with pipe like these you put the pipe where you want the well get inside and dig the dirt out the pipe gos down with you and you place the next pipe on top and down you go

Perdonen mi ignorancia, pero pienso que era preferible poner el primer anillo de cemento en el sitio y empezar a cavar dentro y el anillo debería ir bajando solo, asi se evita posible derrumbes.

Es preferible fabricar los anillos uno arriba del otro en la medida que van penetrando la tierra. Se van hundido por su propio peso y en la medida que se va excavando en la base de la columna de anillos. Así lo hice yo en Venezuela

If your building off the grid why is there neighbors?
"off grid" means that you are not connected to the electrical grid. It usually also means that you are not receiving water from a public utility service so you would have your own well and hopefully a septic tank. The neighbors are probably off grid also. For all we know there isn't any type of grid available for many miles near her location!

If you are living "off grid", you wouldn't order sections of cast concrete pipe for a well casing, you would use local source flat rock to line your well! How fake can this show be?
Watch the beginning of the video and you will see that she is removing the metal forms that were used make these concrete rings on-site. They don't appear to be "precast items that were ordered".
