Paris Marathon 2024 was a BLAST! But oh boy it's been a tough old journey getting to that start line. Here's the vlog of my race day experience - it was a gorgeous route with amazing support all around. Huge congrats to everyone else who took part!

I followed one or 2 of my friends on tracking and added you to the list of people I tracked. YOU RAN ONE OF THE BEST PACED MARATHONS I HAVE EVER SEEN! You really SHOULD share your 5km splits with subscribers. I fully expected your 5km splits to get slower as the race progressed, but hell no, you showed 98% of us how to close off a marathon during your last 7km. I have run more road marathons than I can remember , but NEVER have I achieved such close to perfect pacing as you did. Not even the ELITES run faster in the last 7km, check out their splits, I have already checked the mens and womens winners splits. Lovely to see your emotion at the end, genuine, honest emotion and you have every reason to be super PROUD of yourself. Onwards and upwards. Much admiration and some more, from Paris. Yes, my city but I was too lazy to go down to watch on Sunday but I am inspired to run this marathon for a 2nd time in 2025.

@@FloraBeverley positive splits, 98% of us. Even Splits 2% - 1.99% of us. Negative splits the Rest. You are one of the rest. My only regret watching your video is that I know I could never smile as much as you doing it, let alone speak or film it lol. You go gal!!
I started getting emotional before you even started! It’s so amazing to see you start to come out the other side of EBV. I know how hard it is to do what you love when the chronic fatigue has other plans. Running and post EBV fatigue don’t mix all that well. Years later I still have to be careful but I didn’t know back then that I had EBV or what the consequences were if I didn’t slow down and rest. Being gaslit by doctors certainly delayed the healing. The fact that you maintained your pace at that heart rate is a testament to your mental fortitude and all the hard work you’ve put in. Nourish your body and mind and rest for as long as you need. Remember, you CAN do hard things! I’m so proud of you!!! ❤

I have enormous admiration for you. I'm at the point in the video where you're tearing up and I'm getting choked up over here, I can completely understand what a big achievement this is especially given the year you've had. I still remember the IT band problems with Tokyo Marathon and have been following along ever since. Just, congratulations on this massive accomplishment and wishing you the best rest and recovery

Very fun seeing familiar places (I live at the outer edge of Bois de Vincennes and used to be in Bastille all the time, run along the Seine, etc), sad I couldn't do my usual run along the marathoners due to my knee ; next year for sure !
Those emotions at the end are powerful stuff! A big big bravo for the strong finish and PB! Brit here living in Paris, also ran the race (as my first marathon) and it was a mind-blowing experience. Keep up the good work both with the running and the vlogs :)

It brought back memories of my first (and only) marathon - the beautiful Capetown Peninsula Marathon in Jan 1989 which I ran at virtually the same pace and time as you did here clocking a PR at 21km to boot. You inspired my running during lockdown but due to illness and life(!) my fitness dropped considerably, but from summer of last year I made a lot changes and I’m hoping to take your positivity and determination to Manchester this Sunday for my first ever marathon! The only goals are to enjoy it and finish it in one piece!

I did the half marathon in Paris with my son on the 3rd of march. So nice to see some familiar sites. We went trough Bois de Vincennes also and the finish at Place de la Bastille. Well done!
I also ran the Paris marathon and seeing it all through your vlog makes me so emotional. What a great race and a great city!

Hi Flora, I just wanted to say that your experience helped me through my first 1/4 marathon in Rotterdam yesterday :-) (which has the best atmosphere ever btw)
I was very nervous because I’m not a runner naturally (sports in general are not my talent) but knowing that you could complete a marathon with high HR from the beginning cured my anxiety and helped me get through the race and not panic when it got hard.
It was my longest run everrr! I had such a wonderful experience and enjoyed every second of it without focusing on time and HR. Now Im planning to run a half and eventually a full marathon. 😊
So a massive THANK YOU for sharing your setbacks, fears and wins ❤ it inspires me to continue running even though it gets hard sometimes.

Well done on your marathon. I ran Paris in 2019 ( the weekend of the fire. 😬) and had an amazing time. The support on the course was amazing. It’s such a vibrant friendly city. Hope the recovery goes well. 😁

Thrilling Flora! I'm a French living in Somerset. I've been watching your videos for a while. Quelle surprise to see you running the Paris marathon. I ran it too but it was a miserable day for me as I was just coming out of a flu, coughing all the way long, ending in more than 5h. But hey, that was so beautiful run, I'm thinking of doing it again (but shhh that's my secret). Well done again, fantastic run!

Wow Flora you little star. When you mentioned your ITB issue I said out loud "not again" and not knowing how you got on I did think that this might be heart break for you but how wrong I was and very happy to be so. That end of race finish was pretty special, you looked so strong. Then the end of race tears? I am not crying you are ( no I was too ❤) know exactly the emotions you experienced after going sub 4 at Brighton in 2019 after a 5 month lay-off due to a torn achilles. You wonder if you ever get to run free again.
Sharing this to my clubs 'Strider marathon' chat group. 2 of our runners, Sarah and Steve, were there too and like you had a blast. This race is on my bucket list, so jell, maybe 2026 I'll do it.
