Love Capture One and speed edits. Also, when it comes to culling, you didn’t mention the ability to send selected images to the “Selects” folder to actually move the images you want to edit to a new folder.
John! Next video should cover exporting. I like to export two types of shots. One slightly edited (mostly automated process with C1) and one with style applied. Two reasons why I do this. One is the ability for the client to use their own ... dare I say... filters or edits. Or maybe I chose B&W for artistic use but the client wanted that shot in full color. It will also include some images that didn't make the cut. Meaning, similar to others or issues with distrating backgrounds or objects in background. Images that have closed eyes wouldn't be included I this set. Clients are always asking for raws which I do not deliver. Painters don't give out their paint brushes and oils, I don't either. The second is the Artistic version. My art is in this second exported set. This is the work that made the cut and was highly edited. These selections are the ones I hope get into an album.
There's a couple of different places you have to focus on. The first one is your export settings and making sure they're good. But other than that sometimes Facebook compresses photos which is the main reason it happens. That's something out of our control.
I still use Photo Mechanic to cull. I've used Aftershoot but im still not comfortable allowing AI to choose my photos for me lol. How does culling in Capture One stack against Photo Mechanic?
How’s the learning curve, coming over from LR? I’ve always wanted to try this software but have yet to make the jump. I’ve heard that the RAW converter was better than Adobe’s as well….
C1 for the iPad just got relased this morning. 🥳 iPhone version is coming next. They have for years offered Capture Pilot on the iPhone (and iPad) that allows you to view, rate, and tag photos during a tethered shoot. It also can be used to remote control your camera. Mostly it's used for clients, make-up artists, wardrobe stylists to monitor the progress of the shoot. 😀
@@jbivphotography Here is a good video to watch as David did a live stream of the features. Not everything from the desktop version is in the iPad yet. Which is fine for what I plan to use it for. I want to be able to import all my photos to the iPad and find about a dozen of the best shots. Do a quick edit with them using Natural Feels (yes you can import your Style). Then transfer them to an older iPad just to create a slideshow for the guest to view. All the other files will be uploaded to the cloud which downloads them to my desktop ready to be edited the next day or so. This all depends on the speed of 5G service. Maybe I might try that mobile Starlink internet. Anywho, here's the link. th-cam.com/video/xQYOUfJCfXs/w-d-xo.html

Excellent!
do you ever use both this and LR for editing a session? Or one at a time? which software do you mainly use?
I don’t. I usually just use Lightroom since I’m most familiar with it

Please do!

It's surprisingly pretty fast. I would say you could almost do everything you need to in Capture One.
John, do you still shoot C1 today? or using LR?
I mainly just LR. But I play around in C1 a bit. Plan on using it some more.

Does it come under Lightroom or it’s a different software sir!
This is a different software. It's basically a direct competitor to Lightroom.
@@jbivphotography thanks for your such a quick response
Woah this was quick from the pool on IG! Oh not on the iPad just yet.

I'm excited to check out the iPad version and see how it does. Probably won't have a video on it for awhile.
