Holy crap you weren’t kidding, that thing is loud! Bachmann has really stepped up their game in the train model industry. Merry Christmas to you, charleen, and the kids!

These newer Amtrak DCC units are the only exception I make to buy a Bachman product.

They were fast to get this engine out, and they did not disappoint, considering they were making this model parallel to when Siemens was making the engine IRL. I got one myself, and it is awesome!
#301 is the one made on a limited build-preorder, meaning they produced the amount that were preordered by individual modelers and dealers, that's the amount that were made, no more, no less. The phase 6 ones should be more mass produced on bachmann's normal build-stock basis.

Agreed, I don't think I've seen an instance when a model train company has pulled something off like this, not that that's a bad thing

Awesome review. Bachmann knows how to do Siemens locomotives well in model form.

The Charger family has disc brakes with the discs bolted directly to the wheels. Those are the "holes" you see in the side.

      Noted!
      Thanks for the clarification.

Nice video! Lots of cool information on the 301 and the chargers. The one you have in this video has very realistic looks and sounds.

There are rumors that Bachmann may release more road name variations of the ALC-42/SC-44 Charger series locomotives. Sunbright East & West is one of the future releases. I am looking forward to seeing more of these locomotives in the future.

Amazing video, Sterling. That locomotive is beautiful. I’m hoping I can get my hands on that thing soon. For Christmas, I got NKP 765, NS 1066, NS 8101, a BNSF ET44C4, & UP Geep. I’ll bring my 8101, 765, & 1065 up to Ed’s place again soon. It was very nice to meet you in Cohutta. Merry Christmas!

I want to buy one from Bachman in non sound.

You're out of luck on that one, these units only come with dcc and sound.

I have my 301 set up with an Adirondack consist that can be changed into a Pennsylvanian consist once my Kato Viewliner II baggage car gets in. But since the model railroad club I'm a member of is based on the Hudson Valley and environs, I think I'll stick with the Adirondack for this one.

I'll have to grab a viewliner II baggage when they come out if I can.
